  1. EAA chapters perform the "Big Brother" function in the States... Pockets of these sort exist in Australia. But again it is not widespread and it means nothing if Ra-Aus has befuddled the paper trail.
  2. I completely agree MM... Problem is our membership ballooned with people who were presented with the "New GA" Style of flying... Seems not too many people happy to "self certify" or to put it another way... take the damn risk upon themselves... and many are unaware that this was exactly what made the sport affordable.
  3. I do believe there are hotspots of very qualified LAME's around who do know their stuff and have their fingers on the pulse... We can't tar the whole system with the same brush. Problem as I see it is that they aren't widespread around the whole of the Ra-Aus fleet... And of course as we are seeing a lot of the paperwork at Ra-Aus is a mess.
  4. Everyone who is at Ra-Aus Central at Canberra at the moment. Isn't this in essence the problem. My take on what I see is this...Their records don't record any of this accurately... regardless of whether new regos are going through a lot will run into a brick wall.
  5. I reckon it wouldn't make too much difference in calm conditions when you can land at 20 knots.
  6. I want Santa to bring me a Lazair for Xmas. Please. Nice photo.
  7. I have no issue with the Fees but believe both GA and Ra registers should NOT be public information.
  8. I think you misunderstand what I am saying Steve... I am saying that the CASA requirement has not been met... keeping quite on this is not going to change the fact... I am not saying that the maintainers, regardless of their LAME status or otherwise are at fault. I am saying that the processes at Ra-Aus head office are at fault. I do not believe that ANY issue currently facing Ra-Aus indicate a safety issue... rather a compliance one.
  9. Rubbish. That may be what the rules say. I can assure you they are being floated... If Ra-Aus had of audited they would know. If what you quote is what CASA requires then we really are much deeper in the poo than even I thought. Basically a BIG chunk of the fleet is non-compliant.
  10. I think what TP is saying is that a lot (most?? I wonder what the figures are..) of the L2s maintaining the Ra-Aus fleet are not LAMEs.
  11. I have got a whole folder full of similar BS from my Rep going back since he joined the Board...JUST THINK IF HE HAD OF TAKEN THE TIME TO GET OFF HIS AXXE AND GO AND CHECK RATHER THAN TELL US WE ARE ALL RUMOUR MONGERS AND TO "RESPECT MY AUTHORITY"....
  12. I am too disgusted to actually put what I am thinking here... Let just say that this confirms they are all out with the Fairies...
  13. I agree. Spot on Pete. Let the new organization administer Commercial Ops.
  14. And many are not in the least aviation qualified... NOT ALL... Plenty of good amateur LAME's out there. But lets face facts... that is what they are right?
  15. Yeah... I am not even bright enough to differentiate between Ops and Tech... YET I STILL GOT IT!!! What gives Ra-Aus?
  16. " Ra-Aus has a BIG operations problem. An Ops Manager, an assistant and a few delegates around the country is not going to provide effective Operations functions for 3500 aircraft and 10 000 members... I reckon this is part of the reason our ex operations people have been so keen to depart for CASA lately... They know it... CASA knows it... Its just a matter of time until they act IMO. I would have thought Operations Management would have been the first priority for our organization and at the top of the Pyramid as far as functions CASA requires." Gotta laugh... Just found my post from way back in January of this year on this site on another thread related to the ongoing issues... Believe me I am not a mind reader... " It is just a matter of time until they (CASA) react" .... 10 months or so to be exact. If I could see it from the little involvement I have in North Queensland... Surely any of the current Board Members who have been in for more than 2 months could see it. What gives? Still reckon this Board can fix it???? You would have to have rocks in your head to let them continue until the Executive decides it is time to blow more smoke up everyone's axxe in February.
  17. Because a small group of rumour mongers and agitators jumped up and down vigorously over the last several years to make the Board provide it in your magazine.
  18. As to what we can do about it? I don't know... I imagine there are members up here who still support him as well. I don't think asking him to resign will work or makes much sense until we know definitively if he IS in fact still our member... I imagine part of the reason for his initial resignation was his feeling that he had lost the support of his members... and then it appears the board talked him out of it.
  19. Crikey TP... You got the craps or what? You know it was Ozzie's voice that first alerted me to the depth of the problem at Ra-Aus when he hit the stonewall when trying to re-rego his Lazair with its original numbers. That was what set me to sniffing about and when I realized that there may be some fishy business going on at Fyswick... Just because someone doesn't run for the board or take on more responsibility is not a reason to attack their right as a $180 something dollars right to have a say and question... I know myself personally would be happy to run as a Board Rep... BUT... I do not believe that I would offer value as a Rep so I won't put my hand up... This is not about individuals it is about our organization and every member being supported to have their say.. a LOT of what Ozzie says is spot on... of course it would be considering he has been flying Ultralights pretty much since they were invented. Seriously TP... as a mate... and we have met... take a few breaths... I have noticed a few critical posts over the last few days... We need your level headed brain not your grumpy grandpa one... lol
  20. I am guessing that the "Makeup" of grounded aircraft will include many where the owners are unaware... as in their next rego will NOT go through. Most of these aircraft are perfectly airworthy... the problem as I see it is LSA (don't go there at all until CASA sorts their end out)... and 25 aircraft or similar which are now on the 19 register and similar.... and 10 rego aircraft without accurate TDPs.(remember them!!! Was a BIG call out a few years ago to get them sorted that doesn't appear to have been sorted)... It is probably bigger than this but based upon what I have seen with my own eyes this is the problem... Many of our members are perhaps unaware that their aircraft is potentially going to be grounded soon... and the chances are that without some serious regulatory/leeway type situation I don't think it will have a good ending if DRASTIC action is not taken.
  21. I am pretty certain the members in North Qld are pretty awake right now...
  22. I no longer have one Ian... The latest rumour is that he resigned.
  23. I paid my $180 bucks for 12 months of someone else doing it. And even then I (as Ozzie I am sure) tried unsuccessfully to make contact with my member the best way I knew how only to be stonewalled. Not helpful at all.
  24. My rep answered it by implying that it was all rumours and that we had it all wrong to basically every enquiry of this sort. And that we should stop listening to rumours. Funnily enough pretty much all those "rumours" as I see it have come to fruition...
  25. I would have thought that accepting the Secretary's scraps would have been tantamount to admitting defeat before it has even begun? Why was the Emergency meeting not called within one month as per the constitution.... and the cost of a mail out is not a reason!!!
