  1. Emerald is the worst I have experienced. They won't even give you the gate code, which is changed regularly, without attending the office somewhere and signing an agreement. Small airport, nothing to do one would assume, and HIGH RISK area!!!!!!! Birdsville wanted to see ASIC to get fuel also. A lot of terrorism occurs at Birdsville. Need one to get the gate code to get airside at Townsville to the GA area. I agree it achieves nothing but if you don't want to be limited in where you can legally go it is , at least currently, necessary. Some claim they don't have one and don't need it, but check where they fly, if you don't go anywhere then that would be correct. As a mine worker pointed out when being checked for explosives at Townsville, why check me on the way out to the mine where we have tons of the stuff, and no checks when coming home? Rice to China!
  2. Read the instrument, as you have, and act on it. If you listen to some here, you would be frightened to get out of bed, let alone fly a SE aeroplane anywhere.
  3. That's not what the instrument says - but I won't argue the details - doesn't stop me using class C.
  4. What's the limitation on Shunshine Coast, or is that just someone's opinion.
  5. How would postal change that?
  6. Changing proxy voting would make little difference to an outcome - if a person does not agree with what is being pushed then they will not support it whether it be by proxy, postal or electronic. It's the idea/s that has to be sold rather then method of voting (I am not against postal voting if it was legal either).
  7. Limiting proxy votes? The person I gave my proxy to at the last meeting didn't register it (that won't happen again) so without postal votes someone needs to be able to receive proxies , who will register them regardless of personal opinion, or a member's right to vote is limited - OR have someone at head office appointed to receive unlimited proxies.
  8. Airport Operators requirement - I can only guess because of wind shear at times - it is not extreme but can be a handful at times, particularly for someone with little island type landings.
  9. Pearo Just be mindful if you are planning Shute Harbour in the Witsundays (nice place) with a new licence, they require prior permission and 100hrs command time. I am sure you would check the ERSA anyway.
  10. Alan Do you currently actually fly or just talk about it. You have previously stated that you are not a member of RAA and thus don't have a certificate - your overt promotion of Rotax is "interesting" to say the lease for someone who doesn't use them or any other RAA registered aircraft for that matter?
  11. You're not alone there - read something and think you have your head around it, only to find something elsewhere giving a different outcome, prime example is the quote by djpacro above. I obviously need to read the whole of the new part 61 and not just parts I think are relevant. I guess I'll just shut up as I am not interested in an RPL anyway.
  12. Not listed as an endorsement in part 61? Division 61.G.2—Recreational pilot licence endorsements 61.485 Kinds of recreational pilot licence endorsements The following are recreational pilot licence endorsements: (a) a controlled aerodrome endorsement; (b) a controlled airspace endorsement; © a flight radio endorsement; (d) a recreational navigation endorsement.
  13. Poteroo, not that it makes any difference to your post, only a memory test really, but I seem to have 77kg (male) burnt into my memory? Maybe it went up a couple of kgs in the late 70s, or "my" memory is slipping -
  14. We operated a couple of them over a period of 20 years. Found them to be cheap enough for initial twin training/pvt hire but also useable for IFR twin CHTR. Long range if your load is light enough to be able to fill the 4 tanks, somewhat limited with 6 POB.
  15. read such good natured banter between members hey..... Most involved in aviation, share a common interest and fellowship and go out of their way to assist fellow aviators when needed. Always the odd exception unfortunately e.g. There is one locally becoming persona non grata at an increasing number of locations, but that's life.
  16. As predicted this thread has ended up like the last one, so I'll leave you to play your childish games without me. I will await something NEW or informative to come out.
  17. By who - more BS
  18. Gee Mark, I dispute the "we all know " bit But leaving that aside you are suggesting over 200 in 12 mths, getting pretty inventive there I suspect - must be an exceptional large percentage in South Qld. then.
  19. Site rules???? Must be an exempt person
  20. Oscar My advice, just ignor the so called "committee of 6". They contribute nothing of value and just repeat the same rubbish over and over killing any possibility of informed and intelligent discussion on any thread containing the word Jabiru. Quite often new and interesting information gets posted but is smothered amongst the repeated repeated repeated private agenda of the same few.
  21. Really there is only one "correct" answer : One is legal and the other is not, you can argue whatever options you like but it doesn't change the correct answer.
  22. Think carrage of "Dangerous Goods".
  23. Yen, I can only hope I am still flying in another 18 years. My comment was not that the medical issue was a non event, but more about the the major issue with GA to RAA conversions. Potreroo's statement well may be correct across the board, I just thought I would mention that it doesn't appear to be the case locally. I may well be a candidate at any time, having just passed the 60 point - hears hoping I continue good health as you have.
  24. And this thread runs down the drain like the last one. I woundered how long it would take but I will leave it now before I get moderated again, only some can continue with crap it seems.
  25. No Not in mine, $10,000 not $10 if you want to take it.
