  1. Hopefully see some of you at Narromine .. AusFly 2018 – All Aviators Under One Sky!
  2. More revision and currency is good. And absolutely nothing wrong with going around - EVER. I fly most weeks. If for some reason I don't fly for a few weeks I notice the difference. So don't feel bad about it, just accept you need to get up to speed again and then I'm sure you'll blitz your flight test.
  3. I've just bought one. No they don't take the place legally instead of an EPIRB. But think will be really useful. The SPOT's work when there is no cellular coverage so a major plus.
  4. Totally correct as usual DJ. Don't think you'd get 175 knots either!
  5. Welcome aboard! Umm don't think you'll get 175 knits cruise or TAS in an RV9?
  6. Hmm I'm biased but perhaps look for an RV, the one we went in is an RV-9A, the quickbuild RV-12's seem to go together fairly fast and can be RAAus registered.
  7. Yep, we had a great time. We'll definitely go again. Cheers, D'
  8. Wow NT5224 Well Done!! You and your wife seriously did good! Thank you for sharing this with us. We can all always learn.
  9. Obstacle fixation is a term I'm familiar with. When you think I must avoid xyz, and find yourself steering towards xyz ...
  10. I use multifocal 30 day contacts. Let' m re fine print, and let' me see distance clearly as well. Much better peripheral vision that I had with glasses.
  11. Bought my RV-6A in Jandakot some years back. No shade and by the time we got the plane back to Moorabbin I felt like a pickled lobster. First thing I did when we got back was order a Koger Sunshade. My partner's RV-9A started flying in May this year and by the time we finished the test flying the sunshade was on it's way ....
  12. You weren't whinging. I think the reason moorabbin students are going elsewhere for circuits are the lengthy start up delays. And that was before the current lighting maintenance Ian crane issues seeing some YMMB runways closed.
  13. Just saw this on the RAA website under Accident and Defect Summaries: 5/12/2017 Ballina Airport QLD Eurofox 3K Rotax 912 ULS A pilot conducted flight, YBAF to YBNA, which is security controlled with RPT operations, without va... A pilot conducted flight, YBAF to YBNA, which is security controlled with RPT operations, without valid ASIC card.
  14. We were specifically told no second person for test flying when we gained the CofA in May. The CofA was specific as to who the test pilots were, and that only one person on board during the testing phase.
  15. For many of us 7 aircraft in the circuit is considered busy. Particularly as that is 7 aircraft for one runway .. kind of equates to 21 in the circuit with 3 runways. And yes no issues with parallel ones and people straying but it's still busy. So please ...
  16. Last night at the AvSafety Seminar the AirServices rep showed a slide showing an average of only 2 aircraft per day going through the lane between 2000' and 2500' during the month the stats were based on. I found this amazing. Later on I realised I hadn't taken note of which month. If it was winter I guess there would be reduced traffic at that height. But think that over a 12 month period the statistics might show more than 2 per day ...
  17. Local member for Bald Eagle does methinks.
  18. Ditto .. gave you a big headstart methinks :)
  19. Yep, that was me. Realised as I flew past West Sale that it was probably you in the Tecnam. Lovely flight home, whilst he had a long drive home ...
  20. Umm off topic but .. Alf were you in Bairnsdale on Sunday?
  21. I'll second the AvPlan recommendation. The new GAF implementation looks great.
  22. Geoff, I think you're spot on.
