  1. oh well ... moving right along ....
  2. We had a great time. Caught up with old friends. Made new ones. Food and coffee in the Gliding Club and Aero Club was great and great value. Ditto for the Fish n Chip guy selling from the tent between the Clubs and the Main Marquee. Didn't try any of the others but didn't hear any complaints. Our aircraft was parked in the allocated SAAA display area behind their hangar. Unfortunately also behind a big fence that separated it from the main airshow. Fence went up on Wednesday morning with some aircraft inside it that needed to get out. Some outside that needed to get in. And we were told it would be up till Wednesday. We were planning on leaving on Sunday so a bit confused ... Fortunately fence was taken down on Sunday. Meant we left a bit later than planned but it all worked out okay. Fence effectively isolated the SAAA hangar from the airshow which seemed a bit sad. But part of the overall 'security' or something. Generator next to Seminar Marquee all but drowned out the speakers which was a bit sad. Also the raised floor of the seminar tent was a real trip hazard. Saw/heard several people fall as they entered. Still I'm sure this is all part of the learning curve for the organisers.
  3. HI Alf, not YBNS but flying in to YLTV today in the RV-9A :)
  4. Are the responders holding up blankets to stop aerial photos of the pilot? If so, how sad that they need to do this and that there isn't a tad more respect and restraint out there.
  5. I'll never understand how this site works. djpacro's post got a caution from Geoff_H. Why? Or was it a slip of the digit on a smart phone?
  6. Really? I did my AFR, GA bi-annual I think, recently. And the same as all the previous ones no one asked to see my AVID or ASIC.
  7. and my next question is .. is the following correct?
  8. The project quoted is at Project MS 11/18 - Review of Advisory Circulars & Development of CAAP relating to limited category and experimental aircraft | Civil Aviation Safety Authority and closed 15th January 2013 ..... Look forward to hearing whether there is any substance to this.
  9. We booked accommodation awhile ago. Looking forward to it.
  10. Pretty sure the builder can only sign off on an aircraft he/she owns. Once it's sold the authority (15/16) is no longer valid.
  11. Welcome Aboard!
  12. Hi there, Love my plane. Love to fly. I have always found people really helpful when putting planes in and out of hangars. I wouldn't let this stop you finishing your license. Perhaps you could take friends flying on the basis that they help you get the plane put, and put it away again? Cheers, D'
  13. Not a typo if you read the ATSB report linked above by djpacro. The sentence I posted in italics is a cut and paste from the report. Hence the comment I made. And yes my understanding of a normal spin recovery aligns with yours.
  14. The PIC reported that at this time he performed his normal recovery procedure from this manoeuvre: maintained a neutral aileron control position, applied forward pressure on the control stick to pitch the aircraft nose down, rudders neutral and applied power. I'm challenged again. The instructor was PIC. And the initial actions taken be him were as above. Methinks this might have been one of the hazards of being a passenger. Or am I reading this wrong.
  15. The last email I received from SAAA clearly stated funds had been pledged and that it was on. Have you heard something different??? And yes we are planning on attending.
  16. I no longer breed dogs, and definitely wouldn't have an unwanted Vizsla. My last one died about 5 years ago. She reached a good age and had been a fantastic family member. I would love another Viz but my current lifestyle wouldn't be fair on the dog. I'm a woman, not small or slight, but used to commute to work in the RV and at times got some very strange looks getting out of the aircraft in a dress. :)
  17. And as an aside, Sue I often get asked if I'm Flying Vizsla since I had Vizsla's for many years. And my last one was well known at the airports I went to. Yours looks gorgeous. Big pat from me. :)
  18. Welcome aboard!
  19. AvPlan being told they were excluded is hardly what caused this mess, more about the fact that they were excluded. Still it's now history so lets move on. And as stated previously I think it's a pity OzRunways pulled out. They didn't need to. And as naming sponsor they would be afforded the publicity that goes with that. AvPlan going along and paying the requested fee as a normal stand/display holder etc would not have impacted and would allow people to compare products etc. This would have avoided all the negative publicity and angst. Hopefully a compromise has been/is being reached and all will go ahead as planned.
  20. Why always so negative? First I've seen of $60,000 being needed is your post. Doubt if that was the amount of the OzRunways exclusive sponsorship deal. And AOPA also put out a call to their members to contribute to the SAAA fund raising drive and raised $8,000, I think in the first night.

  22. Hi there, I'm assuming (and you don't need to answer or provide any further information) that this relates to the pre-existing condition and insurance/workcover or similar. I hope it all gets sorted, and that you suffer no costs related to any exacerbation from helping at the crash site. Sad world if people have to analyse all these things before stepping up to help. Take care of yourself.
  23. Still down here. I've tried both the phone and the PC. But it's okay. I've looked out the window and decided to stay on the ground today.
  24. I've just tried Essendon and east Sale. Same result? European ones all seem to work though. Just realised NAIPS is still down. If that's where they get the info that might explain it. AvPlan is showing TAFs and METARs though.
  25. aeroweather tells me no data available for Moorabbin. Is there a trick I'm missing?
