  1. Well it's about the same amount of crap as some others in this thread have been espousing. It's what you call sarcasm but obviously for some it's just to them like standing at the end of the runway at Mascot whilst the jets go over their heads.
  2. Speaking on camera shots Nev maybe that's the go. Instead of black boxes for us they make it mandatory to have forward facing go-pro's hard wired into the system giving a full account of each flight. We could even fit interlock systems for those that are a little suspect so far as their drinking habits are concerned. The list is endless but I suppose then we would have to up the weight categories to be able to legally carry all the extra hardware.
  3. I have found that the most reliable system for use where we are is 2 IXL jam tins (empty of course) and number 10 string. It is only restricted by distance but has another use also, it can act as an arrestor hook for when they deliver the magazine by airmail
  4. Figure of speech Nev. What I meant to say is that it is a real GOD Godless society not one of these used car type salesman from the Middle East.
  5. Don you really forgot to name the most important ingredient of progress cash, money, dinero and bucks, being whatever it is by any name you call it. That is what mostly drives progress unfortunately to the detriment of some very good ideas that have endured time. Everything has it's place in our very existence, some more so than others. What will be do when there is no more oil paints and canvas with no more great artists, with artwork being undertaken by IT people using a digital pen. I would rather eat real beef than synthetic meat and the list goes on and the argument gets wider and bigger. We can't stand in the way of progress, yes I agree with that totally but I don't agree because a few want something different that, lets say the little luxuries that we now experience should be ripped from our very existence and replaced totally with something a lot of us don't want. Why should the majority of us have the minorities wishes forced on us. It's a Godless world gone mad. Case in point, who wants halal food, I don't and I would think that some 20 million plus Australians don't want it either and yet that is forced on us by a minority.
  6. It's a pity Andy that most of those (government and individuals) who tried to stop the executions in Indonesia didn't have your slant on the situation. That is, what is inevitable will happen and can't be changed. So therefore, it follows doesn't it, that those with the reigns who have a mind set whether good or bad won't be diverted from their course or purpose. I suppose that's why we have elections in politics so if the majority view is against the mind set of the ones holding the reigns, the ones holding the reigns at the time can be toppled.
  7. I'm not suggesting anything just making an observation. What one looks forward to is not always that which one gets and I have absolutely no intention putting any motion before the Board. I don't really care how much the membership fee is or what the magazine costs I only care in matters of fairness and the retention of something tangible. It's so nice to see that you feel that our association magazine is in the same category as toilet reading material because I think that most of the members feel that it is usually a good read not mater where you choose to read it. Obviously you haven't got the maturity to appreciate the difference between the real thing and a placebo which exactly is what a digital book or publication is. I really feel sorry for our next generation not being able to savour the feel of real paper in their hands. I suppose you will advocate for the introduction at some time digital toilet paper, that will be most interesting I must say.
  8. Andy, then has the problem been laches in implementing the Board's decision as some 6 months plus has passed since the motion was tabled?
  9. I didn't side-step anything Andy I just packed up my toys and left because I felt that the discussion had got to a point where it, regardless of what you and I said, was not really going anywhere. I have seen enough conflict over the years that was in respect of serious and life threatening issues and therefore, I don't feel that squabbling over a very low grade issue is appropriate on this forum. My sincere apologises to those of you I have offended but my question or point still remains unanswered. I will leave this topic with a parting comment/ observation/ question to wit:- how is it that the latest magazine has in it an article on the results of a board decision in respect of the magazine when the magazine as I understand it was proof read and printed prior to the recent General Meeting? The magazine also contains the survey taken with respect to a survey as to who prefers hardcopy as opposed to digital. We are not talking cost here we are talking methodology or format of the delivery of our magazine.
  10. Well I never! I'm certainly not going to lower myself to gutter tactics and name calling, that belongs only in the school yard or question time in the ACT. It certainly is very unbecoming of a board member. I will not pursue this matter any further particularly on that level of a very inappropriate rant. I will leave you with the words 'proper governance' and thereafter rest my case.
  11. If people can't see the forest for the trees it's not up to me to guide them through the maze. I have pointed out anomalies and it's up to those who want to prove or disprove my observations to review the available material. That is the latest magazine and a few of the magazines prior to the latest as they tell the whole story. It's all a matter of timing as to what's actually happened and the decision having been made before due process had been followed. The cart before the horse, so to speak. I have made valid comments and I will be damned if will apologise to anyone. Freedom of speech is still alive in this country.
  12. And all this maybe is off topic but OMG how many times has the off topic situation occurred on these forums. Case in point, the death of a very good friend of mine and all people could do was talk about was ELT's etc. That discussion was totally irrelevant to the original topic, it should have come under a safety thread not the death of a mate with everyone offering their 2 bob's worth on how it happened and how it could have been avoided or whatever by an ELT or some such like device.
  13. One needs to contemplate all the facts. The powers to be had prior to the relevant meeting already made their minds up to the taking the hard copy version of the magazine out of the equation unless paid for separately to that of the membership fee. They just hadn't decided on a figure as at the time of the relevant meeting. The decision had been made but no cost had been allocated or agreed on. Evidence, to wit, the latest magazine says it all. You can draw your own conclusions after reviewing the printed story. I'm not a fan of deceptive practices.
  14. Well you have read my question incorrectly, it would appear that if we want the printed copy ie; magazine then we HAVE to pay for it. Yes you have a choice but it doesn't really count when one has to pay for what they have been getting for decades, the price being included in the membership. What will happen is that the hard copy distribution will go down and because of this, the per copy price will creep up due to a lower circulation in that format. When one is given a chalk and cheese choice it's quite obvious which way most will choose to go, that is hardly good deal. In fact it may even border on being a deceptive practice under the Trade Practices legislation. A con in other words. It speaks for itself!
  15. Another handy use with a box of matches is incinerating paper wasps around the house. You can get a good 10 foot flame.
  16. Am I reading it correctly that we have to pay for the magazine now $90 per annum?
  17. Does anyone know if there was another accident about the same time in the same area because the reporting at first said a six seater and possibly 6 dead? Or was it just another reporting stuff up?
  18. What's correct because we have competing statements still, one that it was an ultralight (showing a picture of a Chopper) and another still saying that it was a six seater? And the beacon worked in this incident. I'm sure that it won't be long before someone on these forums will be able to tell us all about it.
  19. "Ultra vires" is that like Swine Flu or Bird Flu because it sounds quite serious?
  20. I know that it's off topic but I thought that you would all like to know that Rob's funeral was last Monday.
  21. I don't know but somewhere in the forum someone said that a mate at the local had advised him of something about an RAA member being bored so I just assumed that anonymity breeds suspicion and came up with 1 and 1 to make eleven and there you have it.
  22. I will give everyone a hint, go and enrol at University and spend the next 4-6yrs getting a Masters or Phd in law then spend 30 years plus practising law and you may be in a position of knowing a majority of the answers to your queries. One doesn't go to the Butcher to get his hair cut, that of course is not the case if you go to Stephan!
  23. I have no idea where you get your information from but you must know some damn dear lawyers. Also what or who is MB's?
