  1. Freakin brilliant. I just love rockets!
  2. I agree with you 100% but I also say that there is something in where the engine is operated and also there may be some reference to the mounting configuration in the Jabiru aircraft. I know for a fact that when 912's were initially installed in a few Jabirus by some to get away from the woes of the 1600's there were severe cooling issues. Also it would be interesting to know how many 1600's still remain in service as they were a problem in the initial stages but in the end turned out ok except for a power increase needed to level peg with the 912's power output.. Both motors have their applications and it would be a shame if Jabiru can't fix the real problems some are experiencing as I would much rather see an Australian motor leading the way as opposed to an import. Anyway we can only live in hope. Rick-p
  3. No 'No the groan was just a general groan basically because I hear what everyone is saying but something is just not adding up. I would like to be able to put together a graph on these incidents as the majority appear to be happening down south and in Jabirus, not too many other aircraft in which they are installed. In the 10 they have had in the Philippines, all aircraft other than Jabirus, not one failure, to the best of my knowledge. In and around my area of all the Jabiru owners I know not of one failure. I know that Yen's has stopped in circuit, I think that it was on final, but that as I understand it was due to the idle only or maybe a fuel problem. If one wants to get half smart about it how many deaths have resulted from a Jabiru 2200 engine failure in a Jabiru and even in any other aircraft fitted with them. Do the same comparison with Rotax maybe the result will be a suprise, I don't know the answer but it may be interesting. Maybe Jabiru drivers are more conscious that the engine will stop one day so they are better prepared than the rotax driver who the majority of think that they are bullet proof motors when they are not, considering my own experiences one 912 and 3 2 strokes or was it 4. Please don't shoot me I'm only the messenger !
  4. Just call me an old romantic but that was a great clip, thanks!
  5. Mate I would imagine you are so right particularly the de-briefing, probably clean underwear all round, I would say!
  6. Just a thought, I wonder what pressure is involved, enough to strip flesh from bone if you got in the stream of water? Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree but just think about it, the end of a garden hose will lift off the ground a couple of feet if turned on fully, but there is little weight in that. A 4" fire hose will knock you around if turned on fully and from experience, can lift you a little into the air but how high are these guys going. Under the water isn't a problem except, when, because your not wearing goggles, the retina in the eyes are displaced. It would be like any of those gimmicky fads that have taken place over the last 6 decades or so but a dam site dearer than a Hoola Hoop. Great as an amusement park attraction or a tourist attraction at a resort but I would have thought other than the rich and famous it would be absolutely useless to us Pleb's, no different to tits on a bull! It just dawned on me there is a scientific trick to this, to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The actual hose, setting aside the need for it to act as the medium to transfer the water up to the equipment the guy is wearing, is the means whereby he stays aloft as the water is causing it to become rigid lifting the person in the air. OMG where's Fact Hunter when you need him. Sorry about my rant for the day, I will have to stop picking up durries thrown out of choppers (site video clips)!
  7. From the look of the damage I would say that he in fact won lotto coming out of that with a cut to his head and an injured leg, of course if the incident reporting was correct. Get well soon and keep flying that's all I can say.
  8. All I can say is he should be grounded because that joint he was smoking was rolled in a very haphazzard manner!
  9. Believe it or not. They never believed that man would one day walk on the moon but that's now ancient history, isn't it! The most astounding developments in science have occured well after science fiction writers have pened their ideas in their novels. We wouldn't be flying if it weren't for visionaries.
  10. Kyle, I would have to agree with you that Nflightcam is the go particularly the backup you receive fom the company, if needed, that is advice etc on the use of it. The quality is great and on the Lambarda, Jab motor at 2250 revs economical cruise 95knts , you don't even see the prop basically at all not even a little blur if the light is at the right angle. It is a Contour but tricked up for aviation use. Regards Rick-p
  11. Mardy can you post a picture of the area where it is leaking because it is unusual for the rear mount plate as such to leak. Sometimes the ditributors will weep past the seals and up the shaft. The oil feed tube installed in the back plate when refitted must be orientated with the slot pointed upwards. But once again without a picture it's a little difficult to know exactly where you are saying the engine is leaking. I assume that Jabiru replaced the seal for you? Regards, Rick-p
  12. I like my setup, in ordr to talk on the radio other than the intercom you have to switch over to the radio, then operate PTT and then all transmissions leave the aircraft once finished go back to purely the intercom function. It leaves no doubt as to what is the situation because the intercom is 90% 0ff and the radio is 100% on or 100% off with intercom 100% on of course you can hear incoming radio calls. Anyway in the Lambarda because it is a Jabiru motor installed with an Italian GT prop (super quite) you can quite clearly hear everything the other POB says without the need to use headsets if you so desired and still here your radio through a loud speaker. Just love the combination. Rick-p
  13. That really is an amazing piece of history. Great clip!
  14. Very impressive bit of airwork in a DC4 particularly the fly past on a couple of engines only!
  15. Looks like it was a fun weekend must go one day!
  16. It is a nice strip, I visited it last by car, my brother has a property a few kay's down the road. It will be good for the area if the development proposed does proceed. It would be a good place for those living in Sydney who wanted to have a lifestyle block for a weekend getaway. The people in the area a very friendly and there is a lot to see if you like to trek.
