RV-6 prop strike on Tecnam, then refuels and takes off!
Gravity replied to a topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
This is probably more the truth. Humans can at times do things that are completely irrational at the time. This guy would have been in shock & not thinking straight at all. Who knows he might have personal problems as well and this incident only compounded his poor decision/s. He has already showed he has no regard for rules & regulations, there are people like that who really don't think anything can happen to them. Lucky no one was injured/killed, this will forever be on his mind, hopefully he has the sense to stay out of the air! -

That's pretty much what I would have thought, you would think by what some say you need to be a NASA rocket scientist to fly one! -

Am curious as to why the Foxbat isn't just another plane, anyone who owns one care to elaborate why they are different? -
Actually filming is very helpful providing they don't interfere with any subsequent rescue efforts. Plenty of EMS training missions benefit from those that have the presence of mind to record the actual events as they happen. Also remember humans are very voyeuristic creatures, we like to watch, an auto accident on any freeway shows this by the backed up traffic on the other side!!

I don't blame anyone for not jumping in to save someone, nobody knows how an unexpected accident effects people. I spent 10 yrs in EMS and trust me it's nothing like the wannabe hero's here say!!!

Actually VFR is far safer "if" the rules are adhered to, sadly they are mostly not hence the accident reports are full of them! -
Nothing wrong with that, humans actually have a short attention span & varity is the spice of life:off topic:

Push to close Toowoomba Airport YTWB

Easy fix for loans not to be developed, stick a dog bone in the ground somewhere with part of it sticking out, yell sacred site & it's all over!! -
Push to close Toowoomba Airport YTWB

Most understand that GA is a very small part of business interests Australia wide so we don't really figure in the big picture especially with councils. That along with CASA one day in the future GA will be a luxury only affordable by the very wealthy, enjoy it whilst you can! -
Basically we are talking about politicians here. Their first week of Polly training school they learn how to lie cheat and rort, most pass with honours!!

sea-plane crash hawkesbury river nsw
Gravity replied to Birdseye's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
This sad event may very well go down as unsolved. Plenty of highly experienced pilots flying well maintained machines have left us all way too early. If the final report finds no mech fault then we shall just have to accept that the answer lies with the deceased driver. RIP to all involved. -

I was chatting to a guy recently who deals with the CTLS he mentioned that Rotax's now had around 80% of the 100HP range of engines, seems impressive. -

Interesting little motor, four stroke makes sense for reliability, next Rotax's will make a Sooby-Doo ultralight ski plane -
Good post there 'farri' real life stories get the most attention! When I was involved in the EMS world years ago farmers had a few ways of killing themselves but top of the list was quad bikes! Very dangerous contraptions! Tractor roll overs, firearms, electrocution, heart attacks, another that is prevalent in farmers I won't mention but most would know and even falling off large hay stacks, seen it all but not one in my time from flying although one guy was seriously injured from trying to start some home made flying machine!

I've got plenty of air cooled two stroke motors and they seem to be fairly reliable but then again my life ain't hanging off my whipper snipper or leaf blower! Good job we have choice these days! -:) -
Whoops sorry it's " Flyboys" staring James Franco, it's watchable but a low budget movie I'd say.
-
Did you see the move Flyboy?
-
O Oh it was pretty good back then to a wide eyed young boy who had stars in his eyes-:)
-
Thanks for providing that link -:) I enjoyed the movie but not as much as I had hoped. I guess having an aviation background can work against you where as when the Battle of Britain movie came out I was just a boy who loved planes but knew little -:)
