Hey Kev! I`d be concerned about those bent wing struts.....022_wink.gif.2137519eeebfc3acb3315da062b6b1c1.gif...Cheers.

Hey Frank, I do believe that I would be puckering quite a bit if they really were bent like that in flight.

I did some fantastic solo flying late this afternoon, then put the Drifter away, went home and started watering some of our plants...I just happened to look up and see this beautiful moon coming up: Couldn`t resist it! I just had to get back up there and take some photos. This is one of them.

Franco,

Ps, For anyone wondering, I was above my own property and there was still plenty of day light.

Make sure you carry a BIC lighter to illuminate the ASI on finals as per the ops manual (it works) - Just in case your forget you flying glasses.

Have a dam good night - mate.

Frank - I take the fifth - and besides I don't remember anything, it must of been all the drugs back then or was it alcohol or maybe both. It was pure fun way back when - I was told.

yeh - and I am driving these over rated, closed in coffee machines, that have bloody radios, gauges, gps displays and bloody retract stuff AND carbon fibre bits that run out of elevator authority, RAA dressed up as mini GA at the moment - not pure flying like you have in your machine, and also that is the best place to fly up north. (hate you again frank)

but I will be up to stay - and then the air war can start again! (hope you have improved from last time) - I am coming for you frank - Smile.

Hey Samuel, in regards to the jumper out of the drifter, maybe he shouldn't put that seatbelt on, after he takes it off looks where it is flapin around in the breeze.

You are just right about it. Maybe, to remember to buckle the seatbelt while at altitude, that way if we have an emergency while taking off he will be restrained. Good thinking, thank you for your insight, we are learning.

The rear seatbelt could end up in the prop if I recall correctly. That would make a bad day. Nev

Hi Nev, thank God our seat belt is not long enough to get to the prop but it is a very valid point for other airplanes as well. Seat belt into the prop will be for sure a very dangerous situation. Thank you for the tip.

  • 2 weeks later...

This morning I went Croc spotting, ( not from the Drifter) up the Mulgrave river, with my next door neighbour: This one was the biggest of them.

This is Bill Hoffman and his son, Naum, from Seattle USA... This morning I had the pleasure of taking them both flying for their first flight in an Ultralight...Bill is a pilot and was very impressed with the Drifter...I told them about this forum and gave Bill the link to it, also some information he can use back home...Later, I took them up the Mulgrave river, to see some of our locals, unfortunately, the locals were shy today, but we did get to see one of the bigger guys and Bill spotted it before I did...Among other things, we also spotted a Goanna, Bill was thrilled about the Goanna, as he had one when he was young.

Hey Frank,

Nice pics mate, I've been seeing plenty of lizards up here at the moment, it seems the every creek no matter how small has a croc in it. I was lucky enough to go for a fly along the beach around the Vernon Islands the other day and I couldn't resist a quick stop and walk along the beach. It was on of the best day's flying that I have had up here for a long time. Saw a some of thread fin Salmon busting some bait fish close to shore so I think a return trip with the fishing gear may be in order. All the best mate, Kev.

G`Day Kev, I`d love to be able to help you thin out those, Thread Fin Salmon! 020_yes.gif.58d361886eb042a872e78a875908e414.gif...On the subject of Crocodiles: They certainly are increasing in size and numbers and they will continue to increase until and unless they are thinned out.

How`s this one for size?...Knowing what I know, I`d say this is probably the one that got Warren Hughs.

.I posted this on my facebook page.

"Just letting everyone know, there is a very big Crocodile in the lagoon at Palmers Point, where Warren Hughes was fatally attacked last March. This afternoon, Lukas Steinkemper and myself came across this Crocodile slide... About 4 weeks ago I was flying over that area and I saw a Croc that I estimated to be over 5 meters long, that slide is probably from that Croc...I`ve added a Google photo of the area...Anyone going to that area needs to take great care. The slide is from the ocean into the lagoon."
