1. All the engine manauls are on Jab's website. That stuff is common and all there. I don't see a POH for an SK though.
2. I just picked up my copy of Pac flyer and found this shot on the cover! Way to go Philthy and Matt.
3. Remember that this is a US supplier. Any beacons bought overseas must be recoded with the Australian country code. This cost must be taken into account, along with the shipping and currency conversion.
4. OK - a new month. It's spring, so we expect a lot of entries because there'll be a lot of flying. Don't forget to have a high res version available for publication, and to make sure you send that to Angela when you win. Get yourself a-snappin' and a-postin' so you can be a-winnin' and a-readin'.
5. Here they are:
6. Even better. Mount it underneath as an oil loss detector. If the screen goes black, you're losing oil.
7. One like this is probably the go Pud. High res (800 x 480) 7" screen, road nav comes with it, bluetooth, already unlocked and running Windows CE, and lots of stuff for $280 delivered (to me). Add OziExplorerCE for $40 and some maps for about $50 - about $400 posted to you after I set it up. You'll probably want the PC version of OziExplorer for planning and creating routes and waypoints - add $130. Because this one is already unlocked, you can probably do it yourself, although I'm happy to do it for you - that would give me a chance to see how these new ones are. Let me know.
8. Nice one. He and his buddies were waiting behind me for fuel Monday morning. That was a little intimidating. Bloody big planes. They were burning more fuel waiting for me than I was going to use getting back to Goulburn.
9. If the BAK is signed off in my log book, they will accept that. Yes to Nav and PPL exams. The boss said yes, so we'll know for sure soon.
10. I just rang Brindabella airlines about a conversion (I figure I might as well do it so I know what I'm talking about for a change). They sound very easy to deal with. My hours count. There are just a few requirements to go through which they say won't take too many hours to achieve. I'll just get permission from the boss, and give it a whirl.
11. I just noticed you said you'd be there Nev. Fantastic. Looking forward to seeing you again. Anyone else coming who hasn't said so yet? It would be great to see as many forumites there as possible. More faces to names. I have it on good authority that the weather will be fantastic. Also, there will be peace on earth.
12. No Chris, the 2200. My VNE is less than 130 - I couldn't use a 3300.
13. That sounds like a flat CMOS battery or bad hardware. Try getting on to Mio support.
14. Cool Mr H. Under File -> Configuration -> General Setting, on the "Other" tab, have you got "Auto Set Time" checked? Also, in the Mio under windows settings (not in Ozi) make sure the time is right and set to the right time zone. That's all I can think of.
15. He knew that RAA pilots would be held to a higher standard (because of rampant prejudice and the belief that RAA pilots are poorly trained), and that we would have a better chance of CASA approval if the syllabus was thorough and beyond reproach. It's only a different standard of training. We all fly to the same rules. What is the $600 you mention. Are you saying that if I pay for 3 hours under the hood I can have a PPL? Most RAA to PPL conversions I know of start at $3000. If it were $600 I would have done it already, despite me not really needing CTA. For the odd occasion where being allowed in CTA would be handy, the CTA endorsement on my RAA certificate would be ideal. Ludditism and prejudice are not good enough reasons to shoot it down. I really doubt that the sky would fall if it went through.
16. Lee Ungermann told me that the RAA syllabus for CTA is more thorough than the PPL syllabus. He has a CPL, and he wrote the RAA syllabus, so that's fairly definitive.
17. Haven't had any takers Pud. I'll get one for you though. Would you prefer a 4.3" like mine, or a 5", or a 7" screen? I find the 4.3" plenty big enough. If you have the space, the 7" might be good for you. Do you need Bluetooth support? What maps would you like?
18. Aww that's so cute Adrian. Father and son flying planes and helis together - heartwarming. Is that pooh on his jumper?
19. Found it. 52°49'58.76"N 1°20'46.35"W Great view of it too.
20. August is nearly done. Get your entries in to have a chance at this month's subscription to Pacific Flyer. Bloody weather is keeping me away from Tumut, so I'll add a few of my own from Temora.
21. The Cheetah is half fabric (usually) and 4 cylinder powered. The Sierra is designed as all-metal and for the 6 cylinder Jab ,and has a much higher VNE. It is beefed up accordingly. The box section tubing is stronger than the round tube in mine. I can't remember the specs, but they're both aluminium.
22. Looking great. Can't wait to see another birth in the family. Just curious, have you made the rudder bigger for tail-dragging configuration? I've never run out of rudder, and I feel there's plenty, but a few people have looked at it and said "is that big enough?". Given that Middo's mishap was mainly due to not enough rudder on a tail-dragger Jabiru, I was wondering what you were doing. Keep up the good work. It's going to be a lot of aeroplane. Ross
23. Although, if you don't want to wait - the answer is yes. They work fine. Thruster87 got one going recently. Read this thread. 800 x 480 resolution? Pffft. My phone has that.
24. [email protected] should reach Angela. Although I sent one there and she didn't get it. Maybe a more direct email address for photos Angela? Note - Angela doesn't log in here all that often.
25. Check this. Looks like the Country Gardens is close enough. Better ring them now though.
