  1. I knew what you were saying as I also fly RAA as well as GA.
  2. You can refuse But be prepared to walk home. Not a good idea especially when all it takes is to carry a couple of up to date doccuments. A lot less of a hassel than going down the other path.
  3. All I carry is my Licence, medical, flight manual (which should be in aircraft) maintenance relase. thats not a great deal of "crap" at all.
  4. This is what I carry & havent had a problem when I was checked. RAMP_CHECK[1].pdf RAMP_CHECK[1].pdf RAMP_CHECK[1].pdf
  5. Prekote is a liquid you use with scotch brite you then wash the part down with water dry then prime. If the aircraft is painted in HS it is only 2 coats, If it is painted in COB then it is 3
  6. Insurance is the problem I know my aero Club dont advertise an airshow we list it as an open day.
  7. Im painting an RV 12 at the moment I do this for a living. I use a product called Prekote this preps the surface you dont need to etch primer if you use Prekote. The catch is you have 24 hours to prime once you have used the prekote. So you only prep what you can prime within that time. Even though I do this for a living Im very happy to help anyone out with free advice. All the above parts have been prekoted & ready for primer. Its not hard just time consuming Preperation.
  8. Built my Xair Hanuman under 50.
  9. Motz I wouldnt write to Joanna Gash I would go she her in person with all doccumentation & fellow aero club members.

  11. I was at Bathurst last weekend at YBTH Saturday 39 degree heat Sunday 37. There were plenty of Jabiru aircraft doing circuits & flying around all day. Horses for courses some people like them some dont.
  12. This subject really gets a lot of different opinion's on who can & can't do what.Maybe this should be a workshop topic to be covered at NATFLY. In my position I know what I have to do & follow with the maintenance of my Experimental VH reg aircraft. All I need to know is if I purchase from the factory a new aircraft registered RAA can I as the owner do the maintenance on that aircraft, Im not talking about any modifications just maintenance in accordandance with the manufactures maintenance manual.
  13. CFI no Im not a L2. So if I wanted to do the maintenance on a new factory built aircraft "Would I have to hold a L2"?.
  14. Your on the ball there Yenn schedule 5 is a great guide line to follow & a good idea for all who do their own maintenance.
  15. M You are right the MPC has nothing to do with hands on work its all about the REG's, but in completing this course it gives you the right to do the maintenance on that aircraft you built & issue the MR. Yes I am quite capable of doing a full annual which I have done on prevouis aircraft I have owned. Im glad i posted this question cause it has highlighted some misconceptions that need to be put into spec.
  16. I built my aircraft & its reg VH I did the Maintenance course through the SAAA to allow me to sign off & issue the new MR. If I purchase a factory built aircraft new from factory Reg RAA Can I still do the maintenance myself & issue the new MR. I ask this question only because I have had different answers & different intereptation of what can & can't be done. Cheers Tony

    Sonex in wa ?

Hi Brett there is a web site that has been set up by Sonex builders in Australia the site address is sonexaus.wikispace.com.au they have a list of all builders in Oz & its a great site for info on the sonex. My next project that I want to build once I get permission of the old ball & chain. Hope this helps. Cheers
  18. Hi Bruce Merry Christmas all the best for the new year. I have 3 weeks to go then the cast is off & the physio starts hope to be back in the air by February.
  19. Makes you wonder if anyone would apply considering the state RAA board is in at the moment. Maybe they should advertise as a walk in walk out position???
  20. I didnt say you had to be involved with the SAAA .Nor is anyone complaining about the freedom we have. The whole purpose of this is so dont kill yourself & some other inocent party. Not sure if you have finished building your RV as yet but if you do get an AP from CASA to issue your C of A it will cost you more through them than it will through the SAAA. Back to my original comment this is why the RAA should have structures like this not to add more regulations but to give assistance to builders.
  21. The RAA should be doing what the SAAA is doing in regard to inspection. The SAAA also have TC technical Councilors within each Chapter the builder of an aircraft can get good sound advice on their build. Part of your C of A is you need a minumin of 3 TC reports. Gives you good peice of mind that your aircraft is built sound. Cheers
  22. Just looking at your picture first thought would to run a grader blade to level off as much as possible in doing that I would put a slight fall on both sides for water run off. See what grass grows back you might have to sow some grass seed in places, but from your picture it looks like you have a good growth happening in your soil. Cheers
