  1. Consider a medical student. At what point should they be permitted to conduct a vasectomy?
  2. Might be filthy but they produce nothing like our levels of pollution Per head of population. If Asia increased its per capita pollution to our levels the result to the world would be catastrophic.
  3. Most people understand the difference between selective logging and clearfelling, however the timber industry and politicians seem to think that clearfelling is actually selective logging.
  4. Actually, it is the National Party, with its gun to the Liberals' head, that is the blight on government, business and community in Australia (and its states)
  5. A better comparison would be RAA Certificate compared with the Recreational Pilot Licence. (Plus some endos). A bare bones licence doesn't get you instrument or night flying privileges.
  6. what are the fees and in what aircraft?
  7. You just missed your chance Hargraves. You could have used the AGM to bring on a vote about that which you have concern. There will be another General Meeting early next year for you to urge the members on.
  8. It would also suggest that the council is confused and the requirement for an ASIC was never lifted nor the Certified status revoked. Council confused ticks all the boxes.
  9. Thanks JEM, perhaps we should point John Barnden towards ERSA so that he can work out what the left hand has been up to (right hand)
  10. YWOL is already security controlled and currently requires an ASIC. Details of the security status of airports can be found in ERSA. For YWOL see note 2. under remarks. Presumably, some owners are using the ASIC as a security tool for their assets regardless of RPT activity
  11. My comment was about the average member of RAA. Almost every member of the board was/is unknown to to the vast majority of members. I know of Frank, I have read his contributions over the years with interest but generally, as I said, I am more familiar with a bar of soap, despite any good work that Frank and the others have done (and the bad is probably well hidden)
  12. Same old, same old. Unless you were in Tasmania or maybe NT there was a good chance that you were more familiar with a bar of soap than your were with any of the candidates or board members. Can you work out what the individuals on the board have done since corporatisation. Could we work out what they were doing before?
  13. That is the point Bill. The high cost of access to CTR is a disincentive for quite a few. Consider flying around Nowra, or Coffs Harbour or Gold Coast and Brisbane. The need to have a CASA Licence and a class 2 medical drives the price of flying Rec Australian in these areas to intolerable heights. So much for low cost flying.
  14. "FCL"? And for the rest - will respect BUT!
  15. Yes you can, if you also hold a CASA Licence with CTA privileges. Birddog should talk to his CFI who bears some responsibility in training him about operations in the middle of Mil Space (I presume Nowra)
  16. "Treated as Class C" is indicative of the level of equipment required on the aircraft eg at least a VHF radio and transponder. There are also personal requirement on the PIC to enter other than E or G space, usually a CASA Licence with a CTR Endorsement.
  17. [MAP] I don't see a problem in facilitating voting by all who are entitled to vote. Given the delays inside Australia Post it is not unreasonable for RAA, within the rules, to extend the time of closing of the ballot to ensure that all those who might miss out because of delays don't. In times past a time 7 days after postage was indicative of receipt - I read here that some people are still waiting for ballot papers.. my preference is to enfranchise people, not disenfranchise them. [/MAP]
  18. If you get thrown out it will be because of unorthodox spelling, rotten grammar and atrocious punctuation - we are still trying to work out if you have brought anything or anyone into disrespute!!
  19. Obviously Roger Henning has never applied for an ASIC.
  20. You could always make a suggestion as to the electoral method you might like. Personally I favour the multiple preferential which provides for the two or three directors not hated by the majority. I suspect that the method to be used to count the votes in this election is first past the post which only delivers directors supported by power blocks and may deliver directors not favoured by the majority. Send your suggestions to the Michaels and Don. AEC has a model for this. The problem with incorporation under any Act involves a default position of putting bad law into company (or association) rules.
  21. Or by buying a sausage you shouldn't expect a steak. The only way to get a steak is to buy a steak
  22. Not really. Some of these people are entirely self educated or learned it from mates why copy an inept politician when you can screw over the world on your own.
  23. Correct, but most RAA planes and low end GA use Kollsman type altimeters. Not sure about GA but I am sure/ certain that a lot of RAA planes could do with a recalibration of even the simplest type as suggested by the Kollsman link. It isn't rocket science!!!
  24. Maybe your non aviation friends have been reading the Daily Telegraph/ Courier Mail or listening to Ray Hadley/Alan Jones. There are some dud mechanics out there whose work has given Jaribu a bad name. Maybe RAA/CASA should also indicate the owner and L2/LAME in their reports.
