  3. Yes, there is a note in ERSA about it. I was wondering if there'd ever been an incident but I can't find reference to any. It seems that all the wake turbulence incidents at YSSY have involved aircraft taking off or landing there. [Click to expand]
  4. Yes, according to this ATSB diagram it looks like you'd just sneak under the worst of it.   6. Ha, ha ... sorry about the jargon. I blame it on a bout of headline writer's syndrome. Nevertheless, regarding that, ummm, LOC: this chap had over 10,000 hours. Only recently, on here, we looked at another one, almost the same; he lost it in the last seconds of what otherwise would have been an everyday outlanding. It tells me that it could happen to me. It warns me that I MUST heed Crisis Checklist item #1: Don't Panic And, oh, yeah, #2: Fly the Plane. And maybe #3: Pulling back doesn't make the ground go away.
  7. That may be a better solution (any links, suggestions?) but I still like this pump for easily moving fuel around minus a 12V source. I'd be concerned fuelling up from ships power that I'd deplete the battery.
  8. So far, I've found that this EF-01A transfer pump ($80 from easyflow) works well and has simplified the fuelling process. But I still prefer lifting 10L jerry's rather than 20L ones up onto the turtle deck. (this small battery powered pump is not designed to push fuel from ground level up to wing tank height) Anyway the chap at Easyflow is good to talk to and to do business with.   10. Gerhard, I believe the problem you had with your 912 on your Gyro is the one described in this video, Is that right?
  11. Wow, that looks like an amazing flight, Gerhard ... it must have been damned cold up there in a (breezy) Skyranger. But it looks like a nice clear (winters) day for it. Can you tell us something about how you planned the flight. And about your engine? Why did you choose a Skyranger? What other aircraft have you flown/owned? Anyway, welcome to the forum.
  12. Yeah, 'chutable moments for any given plane or pilot are pretty rare - and pretty particular as to detail - so any generalised yeah or nay pronouncement on the issue doesn't count for much. So it does come down to how good it makes you feel - even in the back of your mind - on every flight. Of course, if such a moment does turn up, the feel good factor is going to be off-the-scale in retrospect. (Likewise, on the other hand, the "Doh!" factor ;- )
