  1. Keith, I take some exception to your comments. The president should not make decisions on his own. We may be flying legally but what was done seems to be illegal. I don't care where a board member lives, they are responsible for their actions. I want this organisation to succeed, but I want it done within the legal framework and be transparent. Just as I don't know if the board all knew or if here was an effort to inform them; I don't know what made this imperative now rather than last week. Chris
  2. Sorry i just realised they no longer sell over the net and their store is in Germany. Ebay has some though. For example http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RC-USB-Interface-Robbe-Futaba-FC-28-FMS-Simulator-NEU-/350586087061?pt=RC_Modellbau&hash=item51a08f2695&_uhb=1 You would need to find your controller version though. Chris
  3. Not sure this would work with MSFS but read through it. It kind of works like the buddy system. http://www.mftech.de/usb-interface_en.htm I know there were some Heli RC that included their own flight Sim program and connected via USB.
  4. I noticed http://www.raa.asn.au/2013/06/ra-aus-members-only. today does anyone know any further information?
  5. In addition the binding nature of the Australian Airspace Act 2007 on CASA means that they are responsible for meeting the vision of the act I.E. "PART 2 – INTRODUCTION 2.1 Purpose of the Australian Airspace Policy Statement This Australian Airspace Policy Statement......... It provides guidance to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), as airspace regulator, on the administration of airspace as a national resource. As provided for by Section 11A of the Civil Aviation Act (1988), CASA must exercise its powers and perform its functions in a manner consistent with this Policy Statement. .... 2.2 The Australian Government’s Vision Aviation is integral to Australia’s economy and its links to the rest of the world. .... Aviation relies on safe and efficient airspace administration and regulation. The Australian Government is committed to a world-leading system of aviation for Australia, including arrangements for airspace administration that will: ensure that Australian airspace is administered and used safely; ensure that Australian airspace is used efficiently and that, where possible, there is equitable access to our airspace for all users of that airspace; meet Australia’s obligations as a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO); be recognised as world’s best practice; and best meet Australia’s needs. " I'll get off my soap box.........soon.
  6. And yet on http://www.faa.gov/about/mission/activities/ it still states: "Summary of Activities We're responsible for the safety of civil aviation. The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 created the agency under the name Federal Aviation Agency. We adopted our present name in 1967 when we became a part of the Department of Transportation. Our major roles include: Regulating civil aviation to promote safety Encouraging and developing civil aeronautics, including new aviation technology Developing and operating a system of air traffic control and navigation for both civil and military aircraft Researching and developing the National Airspace System and civil aeronautics Developing and carrying out programs to control aircraft noise and other environmental effects of civil aviation Regulating U.S. commercial space transportation. I agree there should be a safety organisation but there also should be legislation that fostering the industry is also required.
  7. I wonder how a X-Tail airshp would be safer. me thinks they said an X-Plane model of the airship.
  8. And yet Senator Fawcett gets no mention. With his experience in aviation I would think he was speaking with more authority.
  9. Sorry for the delay. i could not find it in my information. Darren Barnfield was mentioned as Williams Down under guy at http://www.flycorvair.com/hangar0208.html. there is an email address there but 2008 was a long time ago.
  10. Interested but you are about 2 years too early for me. If I had the funds right now i would be interested. The CFC still exists (Thats Chris Financial Crisis). Keep us updated on how you go with cores and prices. there was an Australian who represented WW for a while but all went quiet.
  11. You would not be the first to make a composite gear. See the attached WEB page http://www.diehlaero.com/landing.htm
  12. try a lanyard on it Oh that would be the cable.
  13. As a counter to those that do not like the talking; I must be different, the best lessons were the one where they were talking, every now and then I would be instructed to do something or advised to fix something. it was relaxing and I did not get startled when they spoke. I have to say it was easier when I was young and skills were learnt and absorbed quicker, but i still like the relaxed style of instruction.
  14. As I thought, and FT said above. it was an item of issue at the GM, Our treasurer could not see how we were missing 6-8 weeks of revenue this way. To stop any argument I do think they have done the fair thing, but it should have been voted on by the whole board and any issues that emanated from it picked up. Chris
  15. Hi Ozzie, it was my understanding that they gave the 12 months from the time of reg renewal not reg due date. Can anyone confirm that? Chris
  16. My take on the meeting was the executive do not understand that we wanted to know; 1st What went wrong; 2nd Why it went wrong; 3rd What has been/ will be done to fix the issue. After this they did not seem to get the idea that we do not expect them to do the tasks (Saying we all worked hard) but rather we want them to employ the right people, set their role description then audit and rectify any issues as they arrive. It was clear that the registration issues were long standing and were not just one employees fault. Clearly our treasurer is not a CPA. Nor has any accounting professional set up the accounts. If as testified, the surplus is to cover an unknown liability from operations, then the balance sheet should recognise this. The misunderstanding that the 12month registration starting from the approval date will affect revenue by the 6 odd weeks delay was disappointing. The motions put were appropriate for a membership who want improvements from our board and the statement that the exec are the servants of the board who in turn were servants to the membership was a salient point. My final hope was that the board and the exec talk today as a team not as a them and us. That they understand the need to keep the membership informed. But the final point is they have til Natfly to show a change of direction. Chris
  17. So is Neville paid by CASA as a Standards Branch Head as he was in 2004, or by RA-Aus as a consultant. I would have thought someone of his past work history would be there to advise of an appropriate system and process so that the issues do not happen again and will continue to meet CASA requirements. The News seem to say that he will be a single sign off for some future time.
  18. http://www.raa.asn.au/documents/market/photos/3032.jpg in http://www.raa.asn.au/market/ This does not get you there as it is 21k and only does 115K. Check the Performance detail here but remember they are talking MPH in there performance. http://www.krnet.org/kr-info.html. There is a wealth of information at http://www.krnet.org about the good and bad of this plane.
  19. Easy the egg nobody said it was a chickens egg though.
  20. Try the Murphy Moose. Its a kit plane, can be set up for 6 and if you get the radial it looks the part of a beaver. http://www.pattersonaerosales.com/Aircraft/Moose/MooseDesc.html
  21. Seems like an old incident about 2004. From the owners site it was a high speed taxi mishap, not much more said than that. Chris
  22. Ian, Checked it out with a HTC Sensation. the forums worked well.
  23. Thanks Ian, I will do can I do that this evening, I need to leave my desk so what time would suit you. Chris
  24. Hi Ian, did that, the Splash screen showed, but did not go into the desktop. Is there an exe I can find. I'm not sure the files exist anymore, if I can find the folder location I could try to launch manually. Sorry CE is not my normal OS but I was pretty good with XP and Server 2003.
  25. Hi Ian, I have a small issue and I should know how to fix it. I left my car with my daughter for the last 6 months and she did not charge the GPS. Now I have recharged and it only boots into Windows CE desktop and I cant find the Replacement desktop or the files to boot into the Car GPS or OziExplorer. No real rush but I'd like to fix it. I don't have the device at work but any hints would be good. regards Chris
