  1. Happy Christmas Greg!! xx
  2. Ferrite clamps Hi Grant, If you go to Dick Smiths you will be able to get the ferrite clamps, they are cheap to buy so get a hand full and start playing,If you fit them as far back on the antenna wire as you can it will help also on the power leads into the strobe box is another fix that has worked, basically it all depends on the interference that you are getting as to the way you have to place the clamps. All the best. Brian
  3. From Brian and myself, we wish all a Merry Christmas and a great 2009. We will probably be heading off to Bundy for some R and R over the Chrissy break! -Linda
  4. Hey Ross! Glad to hear that you are ok. We thought you were madly working away at trying to get the 160 up in the air. On the part of suggestions and such, Brian said you are most welcome to give a call (better and cheaper at night!) or him call you, for any help, advice etc. I do know, that if he EVER built another one, there are so many things he would have done differently. There were many times when he become extremely frustrated with it....It took him 3 months to get the rudder set right! :faint:I was on the end of few late night profanities when he had to re-drill and set the hinges several times! . Keep up the good work! -Linda
  5. Hey Ross! Brian and myself were just wondering how are things going with the 160? See you haven't posted since the beginining of the month. Love to hear how you are going at it matey. Keep up the good work -Linda
  6. Hi Maj, On the side of the microair radio there is 2 adjustments that can be made, 1 is for mike gain and the other adjustment I can't remember but it is in the installation book, also by pushing the mode switch on the front you can adjust the vox input so as to adjust it from open mike to a closed mike situation where you have to talk very loud to open the vox intercom. We operate through the radio intercom and find that it works great. Brian
  7. Oh poor cow. Someone give the cow Slater and Gordons phone number please. -Linda
  8. Hi Frosty, We use an apple ipod with our microair radio, and the signal is not as loud as the signal from the headphones supplied with the ipod but is loud enough to listen too through the headsets in the plane, does it make any difference if you disconnect one set of headphones,(does the signal get louder) maybe a different brand of headset might not require as much power to receive a signal. Good luck Brian
  9. Thanks for that Rocko  We are having the exact same problem. It occurs with lift off and it vibrates the whole of the dashboard. We even changed the tyre on it thinking that it may have been caused from a flatspot on the wheel because it had been sitting for so long. -Linda
  10. Used ferrite clamps around the system and it reduced a lot of the interference. Thanks
  11. Funniest thing you have said all year P. :hittinghead: -Linda
  12. There are no problems with the Jabiru layout for controls, it is just an aircraft with character. I LOVE MY JABIRU  Brian
  13. Thanks for posting those great pictures Kaz! She must have been an awesome sight watching her coming over the top. And only a couple of hundred feet too, just over the viewing area. Linda 19-5026
  14. Thanks for the replies, I will be getting the Mrx system and will let you know how it goes. Happy flying Brian
  15. Thanks Geoff and philipnz, to philip can you tell me what swayed you to go for the Xrx over the Mrx tcas, it is advertised at nearly 3 times the price and I was wondering if it had 3 times the value. Brian
  16. Ian Will have hangar space in about one month at Bacchus Marsh. Brian
  17. Ross They are called Ferrite clamshell and they come in 3 different sizes, the smaller ones are 6.5 mm about the size of a pencil inside diameter and the part No is R5120 at Dick Smiths, you will find the next sizes with a similar part No. Basically they are about 25mm long and split in half and you just fit them over the wires or antenna cables and they have a clip that holds them together. I had to get some of the next size up from the 6.5 as I had to fit them over the wire loom at the rear of the radio as well as the antenna wires, I also fitted them over the strobe cable to the light which also helped. Keep posting pictures Ross as it is great to watch your progress, you are getting close now. Brian
  18. Thanks Mark, Brian
  19. Does anyone have a traffic alert system in their aircraft and do they really work? We are thinking about purchasing a Zaon MRX portable alert system to just have that extra piece of mind for the one that you don't see. Any help would be appreciated. Brian
  20. Ross, If you go to Dick Smiths you can get some ferrite coils that seem to stop a lot of radio interference. Brian
  21. Hi Cralis! We just recently finished building a J160, it took us 3 years to do it. I finally went up with my husband (you have to fly 25 hours out after build) and after a few nervous moments at first, the Jabiru is a really safe little plane. And from flying to and from Echuca, I enjoyed it immensely. A little suggestion, go onto the Jabiru website and have a look at the testing highlights. You might be surprised! Linda 19-5026
  22. Hi Geoff, Our 160 seems to use fuel from the port tank first and then the starboard, at first I was a bit concerned but I did a few close circuits when I had about 10 litres in the port tank and about 50 litres in the starboard tank as a test, when I returned I still had about 10 litres in the port tank and the starboard tank had reduced its level. I have run my fuel lines very similar to how you have done yours and I can't see any viable reason for using more fuel from one side more than the other, all I do is make sure my total fuel for my trip is enough and just keep an eye on both levels, and as long as I can see fuel in both tanks I do not worry about it too much. I have also parked my plane on uneven ground, and by doing this I can move fuel from one tank to the other just by gravity, it works both ways so I am confident that the way that the fuel feeds to the header tank is ok. All the best Brian
  23. What date is the field day please, we keep saying that we will go as it always sounds like a good day out. Brian
  24. Fantastic Keith, There is just one thing better than your first solo, on second thoughts nothing is better than your first solo flight, well done and great flying. Brian
  25. Sypkens, I have the same problem, but I just make sure I am covered on the actual aircraft insurance policy. This probably only helps if you own your own aircraft. Brian
