  1. Yes we do have one, and it is great. Exactly what Ian says, that it is not a substitute for eyeball 1 and 2, it does alert you when you can't see anything...and it does make you sit up and look. Ours is set at 5 nm and when you are moving at 100knts an hour, it gives you time to take action if required. Highly recommend it. -Linda
  2. How about a Gazelle, they are cheap, slow and you can fly them with the doors off for a great view. Brian
  3. What time tomorrow rog
  4. If you want to help the brakes from fading, you could try fitting the callipers to the rear of the wheel so as the disc can get some clean air and cools the disc better, we have our brakes fitted in this way and have never had any problems with braking performance. Brian
  5. TVSA @ Bacchus Marsh is a GA flying school, The people there are friendly enough, we fly out of Bacchus Marsh all the time it is our home airfield, if you are wanting to learn to fly recreational out this way you could try Penfield at Sunbury, Lethbridge or Inbound aviation at Ballarat. they are the closest to here it just depends on what type of aircraft you want to learn with. Cheers Brian
  6. Interesting to watch that..... We had to get my fathers car last year at the Bundaberg flyin to help start a couple of them. We haven't had that problem yet. -Linda
  7. Thanks for the good times Decca, you will be missed. Brian and Linda
  8. If you didn't like vodaphone coverage then definitely don't go with 3 mobile phone, I used to have one and I could have done better with two jam tins and a bit of string between them. Brian
  9. Jack, The K Liners are a brand of valve guide insert, you can get them from other makers but the K Liner brand seem to do the trick. Brian
  10. I just let it sit on top of the threads and if it is on the bottom of the stick it has to be within the level required for the engine once the dipstick is screwed back in, (check it, it works) Brian
  11. Hi Jack, I will check and find out which exact ones I used. I will get back to you. It was a suggestion from my Engine Reconditioner that does my machining, (they do alot of perfomance engines), and after a discussion with him I was happy to try it. Brian
  12. We fitted K Liners to our 2200 engine about 30 hrs ago and all seems good at the moment, I will remove a head in another 70 hrs or so to check whether it has been a good thing to do or not, but at the moment we are very happy. Brian
  13. We had purchased our traffic alert system about 12 months ago and have used it nearly every time we fly and definitely every time we go on an extended flight. It does not give you every aircraft that is around you as it is a passive system and it requires interrogation from radar systems checking other aircraft transponders around you, but it has proven itself time after time to alert us to other aircraft that are hard to see and given us that extra peace of mind that if we cannot see another aircraft and it is txp equipt we should be able to have warning if it is within 10nm of us and at what height relative to where we are. The biggest problem with the Zaon MRX is the short battery life that it gives but in the box comes an external power lead and that helps for the long flights over about 8 hrs. The Zaon Mrx is a great bit of kit, it is small in size so it does not take up a lot of extra space in the dash panel and after having a traffic alert system I feel we would miss it if we did not have it anymore. Brian :)
  14. Ultralights, We will be at Temora for the flyin. Would be happy to show you what camping equipment and other bits and pieces we will have in the 160, and how we travel with it. Our tent is about 5kg Sleeping bags are about 2-3kg and the rest is clothes. When we flew up to Narromine last year, the 160 handled the gear really well. -Linda
  15. Hi Chris, Penfield is close to Melbourne, Bacchus Marsh only does GA, or a bit further to the west is Ballarat, either the aeroclub or Inbound Aviation, closer to Geelong is Lethbridge. Plenty of choices out here. Brian
  16. Sorry guys no pics this time but we will be returning in a week or two and get some pics then
  17. We rang Micheal Apps from Polo Flat and got a very warm welcome and come and see us, we left Bacchus Marsh at about 6.30 am and had the most smoothest flight you could wish for with a slight tailwind, flying over the snowy mountains was spectacular to see with plenty of landable areas on the northern end if needed. When we had landed at Polo Flat and met Micheal, he was great, he could not help us enough with his hospitality and information about the Cooma area. Our flying time from Bacchus Marsh was 2.5 hrs to Polo Flat and 3 hrs return, if any one is in need for a flying fix and somewhere to stay then Polo Flat Cooma area is a great place to go. Brian
  18. Thats pretty good service Peter to fuel Ross at Deni from Echuca :hittinghead: Brian
  19. Thanks Ross (Linda says hi) and Steve, I will give them a call and make sure we can land, the strip seems long enough . Many thanks Brian
  20. I am planning to take a mate to Polo flat , Cooma on Monday 25th jan and would like any local pilots from that area to give me the heads up on any local things to look out for, such as active flying schools and bird hazards, being in the hills does it suffer from rotor turbulance? Many thanks Brian
  21. She has done a "bloke"...ask Ian. Ian, Looking forward to those Hot Cross Bunnies again!!!! Mmmmmmmmmmmm  -Linda
  22. Our 160 does 600 ftpm 90 knots at 2900. Ground running 2800, with a 60x44 prop. -Linda
  23. Ian, Awesome, soon as you get some in give me a yell. Thanks -Linda
  24. Kev, Yes I am aware of the configuration of the 170, very much so. Just to clarify this, the question that I asked was why Ben wants to go for a heavier, longer winged plane, and only helping by suggesting maybe trying the 120 as an alternative. I have 2 very good friends who both have a 170, 200 and a 230 and I do know all about the pros and cons with all 3 of these. -Linda.
  25. Ian, Is that "Composiclean wax" in a spray can form like Plexus? I paid $35 for Plexus at Yarrawonga earlier this year....I have been told you can actually buy Plexus at Motorcycle and gear outlets. -Linda
