1. Thanks Biggles and slarti we will be going to poloflat sometime in August, thanks for your help. Brian
2. Hey Tomo, you've got the drifter screwed up in that pic, must play havoc working out your fuel burn for navs, lol Brian
3. If Slarti can put in a pic of his so can we. The 160 home at Bacchus Marsh. -Linda
4. Thanks for that guys. Ross, unsure yet. It will be Brian and a friend who wants to go to Cooma. -Linda
5. Also try this guy. You can send him a picture of the plane and he does a replica of it in the colours etc. eBay Australia Shop - eModelAirplanes Store and Factory: Private Civilian Planes, Military Aircrafts, Hobby Planes I have seen his work and it's pretty good. -Linda
6. Hey all. Just want to ask a couple of nav questions for those of you who have flown in and out of Cooma. What is the best way to approach this airport? We are coming from the West and are wondering due to the HUGE amount of Tiger country around here, the easiest and safest way in and out. Is going around Canberra a better way and approach it from the North any easier? Or is there a little pocket of somewhere to go through? Thanks heaps. -Linda
7. It all comes down to if you want to be seen or see other aircraft that mark 1 eyeballs might miss, there is no problem with having no radio etc, but to be safer you can have one, How much is your life worth to you and your loved ones, the more safer we can make ourselves and the air in which we all fly in is really up to the individual. Brian
8. The plane has been sold to a mate of his. Brian
9. How do you do that? I am computer challenged, can't work out why the letters are all mixed up on the keyboard let alone make pictures  Brian
10. We camped for the first time at Narromine so we didn't have to worry about food except for the usual travel lollies, we have a 3 person jackaroo hike tent 3kgs, Vango self inflating mattress 650 grms [1 each] and some -2 degrees sleeping bags 2.5 kg each [ no compromise for a warm nights sleep ], all up about 10 kg for sleeping plus clothes 5/6 kg between us. We would like to learn more about the cooking side of flying camping and what gear is available, maybe what recipes people cook when away. Brian
11. We paid nearly $2 p/ltr at Dubbo in November 2008 so we thought that the fuel price was ok, Fuel is the cheap part when compared to the fellowship and great facilities that are on offer at somewhere like Narromine. If the event does have to move how about trying to get it to some of the airfields that are likely to close due to lack of use and are being looked at as more profitable to subdivide by the local councils that don't see the benefits of having such facilities and the tourism dollar that we as aviationists can support their local economy with. You only have to see the work that the local lions and rotary and whoever else had a club at Narromine was selling food or something, that will flow on to the local people even after such a big event like ours. It's a great job done by all the community to give us all some fun and somewhere to go. Brian
12. Just came back from Arkaroola, there were 6 planes went in and they came and picked us all up in their minibus, there was no charge for us to get picked up and the people were fantastic at the station, fuel was available at about $2 p/litre which was cheaper than William Creek. Fantastic place to stay and we will be returning soon. If you think that $55 is a bit steep to get picked up it is a whole lot better than walking out there for the 6 kms, we would have paid it gladly. Brian
13. Maybe the state and Federal governments could hire airshows as drought breakers, Avalon rain, Narromine rain, and now the Echuca airshow, rain, seems to be a pattern forming somehow  Brian
14. We had a motor trimmer mould some dense foam in the seat bucket and he then covered it in material and we also had pump up lumbar supports fitted to the seat backs for those long flights. Made them comfy. Brian
15. Nice pic of the storm cloud and rain Terry, I think our tent was under that one Brian
16. Bill, if it is at the join you may have to loosen the engine pipes at the heads and give the assembly a wiggle to allow the pipes to join together properly, make sure that there is tension on the joining spring to hold it all together and retension the pipes to the heads again. Brian
17. And Ian lent us a hammer to bang our tent pegs into the concrete ground Geez that dirt was hard when you came off the mattress at night Thanks Ian for helping us out. Brian
18. Ken, yes we did get some fuel at Narromine, and it was a bit dear compared to other places, but we try and support local where we can as it might just keep them going for when we need them later. If we had of realised that you were on the forums we would have stopped for a quick chat as we like to meet as many people here as we can. Maybe we could get recreational flying stickers to put on our planes so that we could all recognise we all belong to the same club? Hope to catch up with you sometime in the near future and share a story or two. Brian & Linda
19. Hi Bill, without looking at it , it sounds as it will need rewelding if it is at the join on the muffler and the pipe, there was some pipes that were mig welded and they gave problems with cracking at the weld join, the exhausts that were tig welded did not give as much trouble. Hope this helps. Brian
20. Hi Bill A couple of questions: Is it at the muffler, or where the pipes join? Sort of need a little bit more info here. Regards Brian
21. Hey Ken! You should have come over for a chat! We were going to go onto Echuca for the stop, but Brian sort of couldn't hold on that long. It was lucky we did leave when we did, we could hear on the chat channel that the cloud was getting worse as the morning went on. -Linda
22. Hey Ross! Just to let you know we got home to Victoria in one piece. Hope your flight home was uneventful. We encounted alot of cloud on the northern side of West Wyalong to Narrandera and we had to stay below 2000 AGL, and then we had smooth sailing back to home. It was great meeting you, and hope to catch up with you again at Echuca. Best wishes Linda and Brian Dunkley.
23. We made it home back to Bacchus Marsh. Left Narromine at 7 am with a quick stop at Yarrawonga for a loo break, and made it in at 11.30. We had 3 other planes with us and all made it back safely aswell. We hit low cloud around West Wyalong, and that bought us down to 2000 AGL. Encounted 2 layers of cloud from there and tried to sit inbetween and once it cleared around Narrandera, we were able to go back up to cruise height. Back into Victoria it was smooth all the way back, with no hint of bad weather. For our first Natfly it was fantastic, it was great to meet some of the forum members, hang around the Rec flying tent, gorge on cold cross buns, and had a Pedicure from Corrine....(Linda!!!). A HUGE thank you to all those involved in organizing and helping out at Natfly, we really had a great time. Hope to be back next year! -Linda
24. Just letting freinds of Kevin know of his passing recently, he started flying trikes at Point Cook and then went flying Jabiru's at inbound aviation in Ballarat. He was always out for a fly whenever he could, but after a long illness has finally gone to the big hangar in the sky. Another one of the good guys that are gone,we will all miss you Kev. Brian
25. Thanks for that guys. We will see you there next week. -Linda
