  1. Cost me $15 for 45 mins at Brisbane International the other day... The first 4 hours free is a great way to attract people into the terminal rather then clogg up the roads waiting to pickup pax (such is the case at BNE)
  2. Air North also codeshare with Qantas, currently they operate Darwin-Gove-Cairns runs.
  3. Interesting reading about Airnorth, wonder where the plane will be based.
  4. Don't assume ATC can always see you, depending on location and height you may not come up on radar with or without a transponder switched on. If you hear a position report/departure call and may be in conflict, it's YOUR job to speak up and either tell the other pilot or ATC of your position and intentions.
  5. Also if the numbers are just renewals and initials does it include people who had a current medical for that year and didn't need a renewal?
  6. I'm not sure about the RAA form but the GA one requires a rego, could be an issue doing s RAA flight in other then an RAA plane (on the paperwork), Best to do the GA one and just send RAA the copy to meet the requirements of the ops manual.
  7. Yeah your right that it doesn't go both ways but why doesn't your mate after doing his GA AFR just send it in to RAA even if that one isn't due? Maybe an idea to save him some dollars
  8. Well No, you don't have to do 2. Just do your GA AFR and send it to RA-Aus
  9. I already had the part 61 licence so was just written on one of its pages
  10. I don't remember getting a new insert after my AFR, just the hand written entry from my instructor.
  11. So you are combining a rule which says a Design endorsement counts meeting the AFR requirement, and a rule that says a GA AFR counts for a RA-AUS AFR. Is the design endorsement considered an AFR or does it just meet the requirements to having one?
  12. Just my licence page (with AFR) was enough, no log book entry required.
  13. I did mine at the start of the year in a GA aircraft and emailed a copy to the office, no issues.
  14. Thanks Maj, I did send off an email yesterday and received login details within 5 mins. I guess my point was, we don't need to be appointing board members as the members seem to be electing ones with experience managing large organizations already.
  15. Do you think the public care about us going from 600kg to 750kg? I doubt many even know we have a weight restriction.
  16. Do you think the public care about us going from 600kg to 750kg? I doubt many even know we have a weight restriction.
  17. I'd be more worried about the intent. Clearly CASA (and maybe RA-AUS) wanted to include #19 as part of MARAP, they announced the program, saw the back lash and realised what they wanted to do can't be done under the current CAO so "revised" the program so #19 wasn't included.... at least until the CAO's can be redone so second plus owners can't do legal mods, and then MARAP as originally designed can be applied again.
  18. Just going off th Bio on the RA-AUS website, comes from company management and qualified CPA.
  19. It's not just about what damage you could do in your C172, but also what access you may have to RPT aircraft. Pilots are not the only ASIC holders, everyone who requires regular access to aviation facilities also gets one, including the teenager flipping burgers at the terminals McDonalds.
  20. I don't like having to pay car registration either, but if I legally want to drive a car I must cough up the dough.
  21. Unlike the medical field, in security you want to prevent the research from people trying to find holes in the system, that's why they don't publicly tell you that Joe Blobbs was stopped smuggling packages because his ASIC application sparked interest. At the end of the day the cost of an ASIC isn't much more then an hours hire in a GA aircraft. We should be focused on making the system easier, you already know where I've lived for the past 7 years can't I just tell you where I've lived since my last renewal :)
  22. We honestly don't know how many people have been prevented from flying after failing an ASIC check. We also don't know if any such check may have sparked interest with the Feds who then kept a closer eye on someone.
  23. Well the Reg that Kaz posted refers to flight crew license, which the RA-AUS pilot certificate isn't. In fact the CAO is quite clear in that a flight crew licence isn't required for our operations. Safe as houses :)
  24. My guess would be to find the regulation that requires the AVID/ASIC and see if it's listed in our exemptions under the CAO. Could be something related to Part 61 maybe.
  25. How big is the printer in commercial airlines that receives the "code" and prints out the latest weather info for pilots? Surely it's just as easy to learn what the MET products mean then trying to upgrade all the systems to display a greater amount of text.
