  11. Lethbridge Charity Toy Run is on again on November 29th (Saturday). This year the flyin will be bigger than ever before. The Geelong Sports Aviators have teamed up with the Antique Airplane Association to run a sizable event. We will have lots of different aircraft, stalls, activities for kids and market stalls. Plenty of food and prizes to raffle. This event is run to raise money for McKillop Family services. We are planing to have aircraft displays (pending Casa). It's marketed as a family day and we will have pilot (observers) areas and general public areas. We expect over 1000 public to attend and have several corporate sponsors. We want as many aircraft to attend as possible so please pencil it into your diary and I will keep puting in updates as they come to hand! I will update with GPS and pics of airfield soon. For those that don't know Lethbridge is 30km from Geelong towards Ballarat. Fuel is available L100 and mogas. Any questions please ask. Jim Tatlock GSA President
  12. At least she is awake!
  13. Some Media have definately stated first solo. Who knows the truth of it all. Sad sad news.
  14. Further to questions to ask: Is the plane insured?
  15. If weather ok I might arrive in my X-air Hanuman....... PS I will happily show it off!!!! Jim
  16. Wow, It's just statistics!!!! No it's not. It's an incident leading to fatality. Can we control it. Yes we can. I work in a petroleum where we used to have 600 'accidents' a year. We have recently achieved over 2 million man hours worked without an 'accident'. It is a mind set. Not fate. If someone at my work place says accidents will happen I want the off the site immediately. They are dangerous. Most 'accidents' can be determined. That means they are not acts of god but more so errors that could and can be avioded. Don't ever except it as a accident. If someone has to land in a hurry ask why. What could have been done to prevent the incident? Has maintence been correctly conducted? By a competent person? What failed and why? Most of us will now a pilot that has run out of fuel. How can that occur? Should they be pilots? How did we fail to train them? Lots of questions. Don't ever say it happens, that will lead to fatalities........ Yours in safe flying. If we continue to have deaths in the sport we will be taken over by a government body. You will be banned from maintaining your craft. It will cost a lot more to fly. jim
  17. I suspected that it could well be: 1. Skills a little rusty after winter 2. Plane not maintained to acceptable standard 3. Poor flash in old fuel creating less power So with that in mind. Do some taxi work. Practice circuits. Take an instructor with you. Give the plane an excellent thorough going over. Change out or at least top up fuel and expect PPP (Piss Poor Performance). If its a 2 stroke I'd service carby (oil build up in bowl and jets). Jim
  18. Wings and Fuse now avail. Anyone else ordering. Im very keen and would love to share some shipping. Post your interest here and I will start researching prices. Its about a 16 week lead time and need to pay 25% on ordering I think. Jim
  19. RV12 Wings and Fuse now avail. Anyone else ordering. Im very keen and would love to share some shipping.
  20. You idiot....... LOL
  21. I wouldn't rule out the hanuman. Have a look at www.xairvic.com.au If you are in Victoria I can take you for a test flight. Cheers, Jim.
  22. Yes well so far my experience has not put me into an uncomfortable spin. I don't particularly look forward to it however I hope to build both rv12 and rv6. I like to learn how to fly the plane not just potter around...... Hopefully all our flying leads to live and learn and not the alternative. Jim.
  23. :faint:Would adjusting power settings help you out? Changing the airflows?
  24. Great thanks for the updates. An RV 6 under RAA if that occurs would make a very nice option. And J430 I understand you opinion as to training and competencies however CASA are doing everything they can to get away from small aircraft. Hense they suggested the 750+kg weight not the RAA. I believe this was done to get rid of cessna's and some pipers. If that is true they should have no probs with people getting the lighter RV's. And as I understand it there is no speed limit on UL in Australia (yet). The Pioneers can get to near 150kt's. The RV12 in the states does not have spats to help 'slow' it to under 120. If you built one here some small cosmetic differences and make a inflight adjust prop and you might have quite a speedy machine. Cheers, Jim
  25. With the pending weight changes of RAA ultralight limitations will planes such as the RV6/7's be able to be registered and flown under RAA? I pressume the RV12 should hopefully be ok as LSA. Is that right? Jim.
