  8. Im not saying it is hard. I'm not an IT expert. I am saying it is not my role to be implementing it. In the past the board have interfered with the office on a daily basis and it has got us into the mess we now find ourselves in. Lets follow due process and improve. We are currently making great headway (though reading some threads you would think we are not). There are technical issues. Our server is outdated and running out of space. Wiring needs to be redone. These are all issues that are being addressed. It is not an overnight fix. I would also suggest if you cannot get it correct on paper then a computer might not be the answer. There is a lot occuring in the background at present. The membership have demanded good governance. That is what the Executive and Board are endeavouring to provide. Fly if you go to the RAAus website there is a members register that you can fill out and return offering your services. Please mention this thread in the reply and I'll make sure the office is aware that you are a resource we can access for assistance. Regards, Jim Tatlock RAAus Vic Representative.
  9. Turbo, What is that? If you know stuff then do share. You indicate you 'know stuff' but don't say it. As has been made very clear in this thread the board cannot and will not go into specific reasons for not continuing the Tech Managers employment. There was a probationary period and Waynes employment was not continued for multiple reasons that will not be discussed for legal reasons. Are you a paid up member of the RAAus at this moment? Or just fuelling an issue that you currently have no formal link to? On what basis would you say do not find out what went on from the board members? Do we lie? Have I lied? Do we not treat our legal requirements seriously? Regards, Jim Tatlock RAAus Victorian Representative
  10. John, In a recent conversation I had with the GM he indicated there is hundreds of emails not yet read. You must understand the current workload many of the office staff are under. Do not be surprised if you do not get a reply for a considerable time. As previously mentioned many times it is often best to contact your local board representative as a first point of call. In answer to your questions: 1. Darren Barnfield is the temporary or acting Techmanger for the RAA. 2. No and because that was the decision of the board in consultation with the General Manager. Regards, Jim Tatlock.
  11. Systems have been imlemented that are working better (not perfect) and agreeable to CASA. Obviously the future direction is to move to a complete electronic/computerised system. This is an operational matter and therefore the General Managers responsibility. Once the office is on top of the current registration issues and staffing issues I'm sure it will be progressed. Regards, Jim Tatlock. Treasurer RAAus.
  12. John, If you are a member of the RAAus you can access the members portal and will see an update. The home page will be updated soon. Regards, Jim Tatlock.
  13. John, Good point and currently being considered by the General Manager. Jim Tatlock.
  14. Work has not stopped at the RAAus office. The 500 figure is about 4 weeks old. Jim.
  15. Not at all true. The last figure I received was around 500 planes currently unregistered. Many awaiting info from the owners. The current executive do not wish to keep any information from the membership unless it is required for confidentiality or industrial relations reasons. Regards, Jim Tatlock.
  16. Over the last twelve months there have been several threads indicating doom and gloom for the RAAus. There were several suggestions we are in crisis, would be grounded, the new RPL will destroy us is the latest. Although our office systems have not been upto scratch and we have encounter a higher than normal level of attention from CASA (which is not a bad thing) there is only one thing that I believe would cause the RAAus to lose its flying privileges. A high accident rate! If the membership is seen to be reckless and or dangerous then without doubt the federal politicians will become involved. So with that in mind I urge all pilots and RAAus members to think safety in all their activities. To assist other members to keep safe. Always fly within our privileges and regulations. As we come out of winter many pilots will not have flown much and the spider webs will be all over the plane. If that is you consider doing a check flight or get an active pilot up with you. Go over your plane in detail. Replace fuel and oil. Ask for assistance. Regards and safe flying, Jim Tatlock Vic RAAus rep.
  17. Keith, as others have mentioned there are updates on the portal. Not as many as some would like but it's a start. The answers re the SMS are there. I am currently awaiting for consensus from the board to continue work on the casa model SMS. This delay is required for good governance. As to what is happening at the office they are working extremely hard and extra hours to recover from the awful position that the office was allowed to degenerate into in past years. There is still a substantial registration backlog and I personally believe it will take another 12 months to correct all the wrongs (my view only). The board (some at least including me) are finding there is lots of work to be done. Head down bum up and not just talking about the issues but actioning them. What is the gm doing? His job. Strange question. The SMS is being handled in house at present with consultation with casa. If you have serious questions or concerns call or email your state rep or me if you like. That is the best way to get information that is accurate. We will endeavour to keep updates on the website when we have information that would be of interest to the members. Regards, Jim Tatlock Vic. State rep.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbqDTuAQoi4 This give you an idea. Listen to the breathing.... Not perfect but good enough.... Jim.
  19. The statistic that I find interesting is in the for sale ad's. So many aircraft that engines hours do not match airframe hours. And this is on low hour airframes. And Maj one more on the filter. Make sure you are not getting some ethanol in the mogas disolving your tank and hoses to gunk..... Jim
  20. TP. Although I have said this before I will again. RAAus are not mandated to have a full time Safety Manager. CASA has stated this to the board. Do not take that to mean we won't, we might, but we do not need too. Read and print all the links you like. CASA interpretation (which is the one I care about) has been clearly stated. Regards, Jim Tatlock.
  21. I would have said, Factory Built 24 reg, Approved Engine, Holder of PPL with CTA endorsement and Rad47/Instrument 8 within last two years or Casa Exemption. Jim. Added: Current medical and CASA BFR + Current RAAus Pilot Certificate. Good Point.
  22. Steve, The report doesn't attribute blame to the aircraft. Not sure why you put my comments in your post. What short comings are mentioned about the aircraft? I don't know the aircraft from a bar of soap but the report address's the likely hood of poor airmanship and breaking of numerous rules leading to the most likely cause of the accident. Jim.
  23. The report doesn't attribute blame to the aircraft. Jim
  24. RAA members, Resources have been thrown at the registrations issues. As Andy mentioned after 12 months we as an organisation should be in a much better position. As to volunteers our office is full of staff and it is deemed by the office that they will not speed up the process. I truly believe we as an organisation are heading in the right direction at the moment. As a board we are aware some members are being let down by past events that have now surfaced. I offer you my personal apologies and encourage you to maintain contact as best you can with the RAA office. Regards, Jim Tatlock.
  25. Hello all. Interesting comments about the magazine being available on the net for download. I will look into this. It has already been discussed to some amount with the board. I think from memory there are some copyright issues. Will check and get back to the thread in the nearish future. Jim Tatlock Victoria State Representative
