  1. Greybeard, The incorporated body im involved with have to provide financial summary and AGM minutes to ASIC each year. Jim.
  2. Kaz, I totally agree. I think that is where we should head. Get five positions appointed. And gent of course you are confused. You seem to comment on procedures that you don't have a clear understanding of. If you want to understand the voting systems call a rep. It's fairly logical as John said.
  3. As a new member to the board I am trying to keep the masses on this forum informed. Please be mindful what I am posting is correct to the best of my knowledge. As to a board member not being able to vote I believe is incorrect as we all have access to the board members forum to which is our primary form of communications. Regards, Jim tatlock.
  4. David the majority of the board voted yesterday to accept the presidents withdrawal of resignation. In fact no-one voted against it. There is a legal opinion from slater and Gordon, I'm not sure if that is an archive opinion or fresh Regards, Jim.
  5. Jim, you sound like the board has been notified by CASA that they are intent on closing the operations of the RAA. Is that an accurate statement? Not at all accurate. Im stating my viewpoint only and putting myself in their shoes. Jim.
  6. Ok guys, gals let me put some info on here. Yes the board meeting this Friday is cancelled because it was organised at short notice and the majority of Board members could not attend. Me being one of them. I have been 'active' on the board for less than two weeks. Yes there are communication issues to both the membership and to board members. If I am still on the board in the furture I will endeavour to correct this if I can. Are there conflicts and is the board falling apart as so many posts suggest? At this stage I do not believe so. There are personality clashes which have led to less than professional conduct in writing. I have raised this as a issue and I can certainly state it is not just one person. It needs to stop. That will certainly be discussed at face to face meetings in the future. Further to the communication and members concerns if its not on the RAA site then call your elected rep. or send them an email asking for details. If they can answer I'd hope they will. If they don't respond then ask me. As to the problems with the Audits what needs to be made very clear is the majority of the detected problems happened under different technical managers and different Executive, although the Board has the responsibility to over see a lot was hidden and the job huge to repair. I admit it certainly has shown deficiences in how the office ran. Hopefully this can be corrected and not re-occur. On a last note I want to mention the upcomming meeting. The tone I get from lots of posts is that sacking members from board positions or possibly sacking the complete board would be a good solution. They will be two options that you could do if you have the numbers but personally I would be very careful with this decision. We (the membership) know that CASA are keeping a close eye on what the Association is doing. They have watched the Tech managers leave or be terminated. They have watched the CEO resign. Ask yourself what will they be thinking if the membership sacks its board? I would guess it might be along the lines of "can we trust this group to manage the privellages we have given them?" And if the answer is no then I would expect them to step in quickly. I'll let you all decide what action they may or may not take. Regards, Jim Tatlock Victorian Board Member. (For 2 weeks and counting)
  7. Thanks for the comments and I will endeavour to do my best. As to the small amount of voters it's not helpful. Hard to argue Vic needs more representation with so few showing interest.
  8. If anyone has the above service manuals I am keenly trying to seek a copy. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Jim
  9. Thats a very interesting problem. Please keep this thread updated so we all can learn from your issue. Jim
  10. Just to clarify to use a transponder it "must" be calibrated every two years. If your in Victoria I can do it for you. Jim Austec Avionics.
  11. Hi to all, As I have previously mentioned I am running for a position on the RAA board and would appreciate your support. Most of you should have received your sport pilot mag which has the ballot paper and return envelope included. I urge all to vote to show you care and hopefully some fresh blood on the board can help with changes. If you have any questions of me then post them or call me on 0403 228986. Yours in safe flying, Jim Tatlock
  12. David I'm not going in blind. I will do my best as mentioned in my statement. With that in mind I am one vote on matters that the board put to a vote. Rest assured I try to maintain open communications with members and work for the future of the RAA .

  14. If you have an exception to have a co pilot then I agree make sure you have an experienced jab man, woman, next to you. They are slippery little suckers. And def stay in your comfort zone. I find most who criticize are often very average pilots.
  15. Very sad result. From hearing pilots comments on the weather in the area it reminds me of comments from my testing officer. Treat those clouds as rocks in the air. Rip peoples. For everyone else, let's stay safe!
  16. Still hoping for the best. Hope this plane and crew, passengers found quickly safe and well.
  17. Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Jim Tatlock and I am a keen sports aviator. I am a middle aged father of two young children. In my spare time, in addition to flying, I operate my own small business providing Avionics/Electrical Technician (L2) services in Victoria. Thank you for taking the time to review my credentials, I hope that we share the same passion in the RAA and the desire to see the organisation prosper. For this reason I seek your support in my nomination for the position of Victorian representative on the RAA board. My association with flying commenced at a relatively young age of 16, largely through the Scouting organisation. In 2007 I was re-introduced to flying, rekindling the relationship and falling in love. I have since completed my RAA tickets, GA License and am currently training towards becoming a RAA Instructor. I own a share in both a Hanuman X-air and a Cessna 172 and am building my own Vans RV12 (slowly). I am a fully qualified process operator at a large Victorian Refinery, prior to this I served in the Victorian Police force for over ten years. I am experienced at representing the views of members: · I currently represent 200+ Operations personnel in many tiers of safety committees. · Held the position of President and Secretary of the Geelong Sports. · Student representative Box Hill Tafe College Council, representing a large student body. I believe that I have the ability to understand the differing views of RAA members, that some wish to fly with limited restriction, whilst others wish to expand the horizon. I do believe we as RAA pilots can achieve both with balance. I offer the following attributes to supplement the RAA board, · Strong Communication: Balanced representation of the Members of Victoria. · Accountable: Strong work ethic to ensure actions are accomplished. · Legality: My current and previous occupations have given me a knowledge of Law both corporate and criminal. I promote that the Association always acts in a manner that complies with the “SELL” principle. Is it Safe, Ethical, Logical and Legal. · Stability: My interest in representing the RAA members is based on my involvement in Recreational flying. With this in mind I will always work for the betterment of the RAA either as a serving board member or at my local club. · Integrity: I believe that openness and truthfulness is the best approach in any situation, and that much more can be achieved with sharing. I will always endeavour to keep the membership up to date with current events that are being discussed by the board. In summary, we are extremely fortunate to have the ability to ‘choose’ to fly many different aircraft in the Australian skies. There are lots of countries where this is a pipe dream. I believe we need to protect those privileges and demonstrate to the regulators (CASA) that we can be safe, competent and operate within the laws and regulations governing the RAA. I hope you will support me in my endeavour to assist the board with the future direction of the RAA. I can be contacted on Mobile 0403228986 or email [email protected] if you wish to discuss this expression of interest or any other matter. Regards and safe flying Jim Tatlock.
  18. Personally I would like to see the option to train upto cta but time will tell. As to the instruments they do not have to be tso just in cal and signed off every two years.
  19. The current issues is very open fly. Please ask a specific question. I have spoken with current board members and read all the forums. I believe we need some new people in the equation and try to build some stability. If elected that will be one of my goals.

  22. Well I can input some in here. I started GA, went RAA then returned to GA. Delt with some bad GA schools that really just want money. Then found a good GA instructor and completed the PPL. It undoubtably cost me much more that it needed too. So if you choose RAA first (which I would suggest) make sure the school and the individual instructor can and will do both. That is the only way it will save you money. PS. if you can fly some of the ultra lights in varying cross winds the bigger (real) planes are a walk in the park. Jim..
  23. Yes I have received my mag today and will vote yes. Specially the one about needing 5% to call a meeting. What a joke that is. Jim.
  24. Also if registered as Experimental GA you cannot perform the maintenance. Must be done by a LAME. Only the original builder can perform maintenance on the aircraft. Once it changes hands I believe it is like any other GA plane and must be maintained accordingly. If I am mistaking on this point please correct me. Jim.
  25. Casa introducing a recreational licence that will allow you to fly a 1.5 ton plane. Open up a whole new world of aircrafts to fly for some peoples i think. Jim
