Hi Geoff - after posting the above I got curious and went looking for Andy Hollitt. Guess what - he lives in South Oz and calls his Jabiru "Wild Thang". I also have an email address for him, so I will try and contact him tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. regards

No - sorry Geoff 'fraid not. I never talked with him, I just remembered reading it quite a while ago - well over 12 months or more. (Had to search via google to find it again) I would think that you could make a fit the cups to both sides of the mount. You may be able to contact Andy through the website address in my previous post. regards
  5. That's funny - (as in weird) ;) my manual says MTOW is 540kg. So where's that other 4kg? :yuk: regards

G'day Geoff, seeing your engine mount mod made me remember a similar fix to this problem. This picture was taken from the www.jabiru.flyer.co.uk/eng.html web site and posted by Andy Hollitt. They are turned aluminium. I've just done a 50 hourly on my 160 (now at 250 hrs) and my rubbers are looking a little distorted. Might be time for a "fix" regards
  7. One would assume that it is the old model LSA (which has nothing to do with the new LSA Class of aircraft) but factory certified under the new LSA rules - hence the 500kg take off weight against the old 470kg limit. You probably won't be able to modify it without factory sanctions. I don't think it will push the second hand price down as it will be in high demand from training schools and may even generate a renewed interest in the older style of Jabiru. What I mean is most people are happy to buy/fly the same as what they learned in. Call it comfort zone. So suddenly the older Jabiru is not old - its current. Remember the old days when a fresh coat of paint on the old VW made it look like the current model? There are some really nice Jabirus out there with all sorts of extras and personal improvement done by their owners. How many of you will be busting to paint J120 on the tail? regards
  8. Well, you know what they say  "Ya can't keep an old dog down" ;) good on ya mate! ;) regards

  15. Does anyone know the history/story behind this strip? It's at a small place called Redesdale. (Central Victoria) You can see the white tyres on the left that mark the start of the strip which runs behind the double ended hanger. (not far from the petrol station) I have flown over it but didn't have the camera. :;)4: It's bent like a banana in the middle. ;) regards
