...Bird Brain also managed to work out he needed extra fuel capacity to feed the hungry turbo. He discovered the rear fusilage would hold 827 liters of Jet-A1, and being a safety nut added two "NO SMOKING" decals to the exterior skin of each door.......
-
.... a complete mental blackout as he ducked under the low door frame (which unfortunatley managed to break the said "lighted bulb"). His wife found him later that afternoon dribbling and singing "come fly with me" while keeping in time by pounding his head with a 4 year old copy of flyers digest.....

Just then the phone rang again - it was the bank .....Your bank balance is again in the red, your overdraft is now $2000 and climbing, the good news is although your Testra shares aren't worth S:censored::censored:T there is enough of them for you to claim 2.3 go anywhere flyers from the OZ Stork aeroplane company.

OZ Stork aeroplanes have just released 6 cylinder diesel engined go anywhere flyer with a TBO time of 10000 hours while burning a measly 4 liters per hour, cruising at 175 knots and able to lift twice its weight while still stalling at 10 knots - at just over 19,234 dollars less $100 credit for any surrended Telstra share. Woetax have replied with......

"Whoa thar Bronwyn Bitch" (nee Bishop) said Dirty Dick. "is this a gun in my pocket" he said in an unusaual high pitched voice. "geez ya jatz crckers don't half take a pounding in these genuine imitation 100 per cent vinal leather saddle imported from China (and available free with the purchase of 10 or more imitation Scrotax pull and starter ropes. Bronwyn started to reach into her oversized breast pocket (the pocket was oversized) and pulled out.......

"look Mr Defect, I'm sick and tired of you having a few drinks, waking in the morning and looking out the wrong window. Give your head a shake, go to the other sie of the house and look to the EAST - your strip is where you left it" Joe went to the other side and looked out - sure enough the strip was there, he swore to himself never to mix his beers again. Suddenly he heard the sound of an approaching aircraft......

Hello my name is Tim and I'm a Plane nut (HELLO TIM! hello Tim)
BigPete replied to Timm427's topic in Just Landed - Welcome
G'day Tim, welcome to the fold. ;) Enjoy ypu're flyin' around the "Sunraysia" area. I was born and raised there. Good country. regards -
Well - I'm still on the ground. After what seems like forever my poor little Jabiru is still headless. :black_eye: Bad weather and work overload on the L2 doing the repair has taken longer than I thought. :;)4: The latest news is that the valve guides are worn enough to require replacement. So another wait while Jabiru send the extra parts. My motor was one that required the rocker chambers to be vented. As it was the number 4 pot (which runs the hottest), we believe that the oil pooling and overheating in the chamber caused the extra wear. ;) The good news is that I should be back in the air (at the latest) on Friday 22nd of Feb - the eve of the fly In. ;) regards
-
I'll be there - and I'll probably be doing some of the cooking. ;) so - I can make one with everything ;) or two with the lot!:big_grin: regards

I just tried and Adobe Reader says there is an error in the file. regards

Chris - I feel that handled correctly the 170 will land much shorter than th 160. You have to be make sure you're over the "keys" at around 55 knots in the 160 as it tends to drop as you near the stall. The 170 however can come in at say 45 knots and will still be reluctant to stop flying. regards
-
I own a J160c and I've tried the J170. Let me put it lke this.... The 170 wants to fly, ;) the 160 wants to land. The wider wingspan (and the wider elevator on the factory built LSA J170c) makes a huge difference, the aeroplane leaps into the air ;) while the J160 drags itself of the ground. :;)4: I have no problem landing the 160 (after all I now have over 600 landings under my belt). The 170 requires more attention to the approach speed and flare, otherwise your still flyin' and running out of strip. :black_eye: AS much as I love my J160c ;) - I do appreciate the vitues of the 170, mailnly this: shorter take off run, ability to loiter at slow airspeed (50 knots is a doddle), LSA take off weight of 600 kgs, slower landing speed (stall around 38 knots at full weight) regards

I'm listening, I'm listening.... :big_grin::big_grin::big_grin: egads

Look at it this way - remove the wings - will it fly? - NO Now put the wings back on and take away the lift - will it fly? NO regards
-
The wing is the thing! ;) If it is not moving fast enough thru the air then there is not enough lift. So if it is stationary (on the treadmill or whatever), in other words not moving forward thru the air, there is no lift and no flight. ;) Otherwise I could lock on my brakes, rev the dickens out of my motor and take off with no ground roll. regards

What would you want to know first?
