  1. Yes, Diggler - welcome. And if we don't know the answers - we'll wing it. (Wing it, get it? Aeroplane - wings? - Oh please yourself) regards :big_grin:
  2. Mike - I'm a bit confused (it dosen't take much these days!), didn't the 296 come with an additional antenna? regards
  3. OK - let's try this - River flowing at 25 knots. Wind blowing up stream 40 knots. Paddlesteamer with current at full speed (15 knots). :raise_eyebrow: Will the paddlesteamer take off? i_dunno NO :yuk::yuk::yuk: and neither will the bloody aeroplane!:big_grin::big_grin: regards
  4. Beautiful photos - what camera are you using? regards
  5. I saw some VG's on a Jabiru at Narromine - never got to find out from the owner about them though. rgards
  6. Brad - get off ya butt and join the EAC (Echuca Aero Club) as a social member ($25). Go to www.eac.id.au click on "Club Info" and you can download a membership application. Then on comps day (3rd Sunday in the month) you can get a flight in the back seat of the Piper Archer. Spend time and talk aeroplanes with us - we're a very friendly bunch. Plenty of younger pilots in the club (both GA and RAA). Learn to fly and then bulld your aircraft.:big_grin: regards
  7. I haven't got mine yet. (magazine that is) regards
  8. So where to now:question: With 90% of the poll wanting plain english weather reports, how do we lodge our bid for change? If the RAA is fast approaching 10000 members, I recon we stand a fair chance of bringing about a much needed change of weather reports. Let's get off our bums and actually do something.:big_grin: Who's in? regards
  9. Has the aircraft just had a service - as in oil and filter change? regards
  10. Let's see - YSHT - elevation 374ft. So circuit height for our type of aircraft (Jabiru's Tecnams etc) is 1400ft. The twin should be in the next level at 1900ft for the circuit. By your estimation (500 AGL + 300ft) he/she was at 1200ft altitude. :yuk: You were very lucky Ben - How could it be your fault? Incoming aircraft should arrive at correct height for their performance. I would have thougt a 10 mile inbound call would have been the go for a twin. i_dunno Did you get a chance to talk to the School who owned the aircraft? I always look at overflying too close to the end of a runway as asking for trouble (a 100hp Rotax in a RAA craft with one person on board and a stiff headwind can make the aeroplane climb like a homesick angel) (and still be over the runway at circuit height) - I also like to fly over perpendicular to the active/main runway. regards
  11. Three wives and you can still afford to fly? regards
  12. Well - I could claim that the name came from observations in the shower block. But the truth of the matter is I have grandson who is also called Peter. So the women in my life decided to name him little Pete and Pop became...... now you know. (size ain't everything) ;) regards
  13. Well - it wasn't that bad a landing - the pilot flared a bit early and the aircraft landed firmly on its main wheels and bounced back into the air. Unfortunatly it then came down on the front nosewheel thus sandwiching the spat between tyre and the bitumen runway. The 'plane then nosed over (shattering the wooden prop) and skidded down the runway on its engine cowling and left wingtip. As it came to rest it finally flipped onto its back. (yes Decca - thats me - talking to the law). and no Geoff - not my 'plane. regards
  14. How goes it Mark? - must be close by now. regards
  15. G'day Bob - welcome to the fold. How about a J170c. The 170 is a better 160. Here's why. Max weight 160 - 540kg - gives you 240kg payload. Max weight 170 - 600kg - gives you 290kg payload. Bigger wing on the 170 - stall at 40kts full flap - 160 45kts full flap Now 5 knots may not seem that much but when you add the extra 50kgs in - its a huge difference. The 170 will get you in the air quicker and shorter - you need to fly one to appreciate the big difference between the two aircraft.:big_grin::big_grin: regards PS the 170 is around $5000 dearer then the 160.
  16. Its that spare control stick that has me most worried!!:big_grin::big_grin: regards
  17. BigPete

    Fuel flow metre

Thankyou - will give it a try. regards

    Fuel flow metre

What Glenns said, and I too have a flickering fuel flow pressure light which I take as meaning I have good fuel pressure half the time.:big_grin::big_grin: regards (PS - How did Jabiru tell you to fix it?)
  19. Well done Mike. regards
  20. .......at last count Guru Swami (buggemetohismates) had well over 60,000 loyal and dedicated followers, who acted immediatly on his command........ "Now who the hell is going to clean up all this Sh:censored:." exclaimed his wife . Fortunately the multitude only follows HIS commands. The Swarmi's wife was no looker :yuk::yuk::yuk: - but she did have a few brains. (she did not however believe that Bigglesworth was a double agent "he's alway off somewhere with his soppy camel and some hair brained mate called Ginger looking for the Bosche." thumb_down "The swarmi swears by Champion - wouldn't put anything else in his plug hole." Just then, Ginger and some growth called Algie nockewd (yes, I know it's a spelling mistake - deal with it!) on the front door...... regards
  21. .....We interupt this ongoing saga to bring you the latest OZStork rumers. 1. We believe Bigglesworth to be a double agent - don't believe anything he says about OZStork (Unless of course you think he's on our side - then you can take him as gospel) 2. there will be another attempt at an Echuca Flyin - we're just trying to figure it out as an (aircraft related incident - so there's no blame if it comes off or not) 3. the latest offering from OZStork will feature, retractable undercarriage, in air adjustable prop, 3 seats (in case the rules change), 260hp at 2600rpm (you guys will believe anything), DVD and widescreen with the Foxtail option, (for all you old Holden 179 EH owners (my god and you guys are now flying!!!)) AND any colour from the light spectrum (as long as it is white) WE just need to find room for a few essentials within the weight limit (like pilot and fuel) before we commence production. :yuk: (Bigglesworth its getting cold outside and your dinner is on the table) we now return you to the current program........
  22. I use Garmins' Mapsource program to review my past flights as recorded by my GPS (Garmin Ique 3600a). The PC Base Map as supplied is very basic and not that accurate. :yuk: I understand I can buy electronic versions of VNC's, WAC's etc, but where from Do they last past the use by date As I use them to review and not plan my flights I don't feel the need to replace them every six months as I do with my paper ones - if you get my drift. regards
  23. The 100hp Rotax is more powerfull by 25%. I very much doubt if you'll pick up more than 10% performance over the 80hp Rotax. (It's all to do with that wing - so I'm told) - but hey I'm a Jabiru Jockey. C'mon you Savannah drivers (sliders, shifters, slickers ) What do you say? regards
  24. Stuff all the Wabbits with Carp eating Cane Toads - and sell em' to the Chinese. (well, after all they send plenty of to us) regards
  25. So sorry it didn't go well, Boleropilot. Your plight has made me put pen to paper (um keys to screen?) (you know what I mean) Rule No 1 - always "see" the seller as your worst enemy - not your best friend. This can be a very hard thing to do, but it does work - ask lots of questions and make sure you get answers. Rule No 2 - if you can't get to the item - have a knowledgable person do it (CFI etc) There are plenty of people out there to help if your stuck. This forum would be a good place to start. Rule No 3 - NEVER hand over too much money as a deposit. (sight unseen) - $200 is plenty. I always ask myself - if this goes pear shaped for whatever reason - how much money can I through in the gutter? Rule No 4 - take your time - the best plane might be the one after your hurried purchase. :yuk: There may well be a better proposition after you done the deal - but you have to be able to live with your initial decision. If not happy - walk away. regards
