  1. Thanx Ron-C - might even be tomorrow!! ;) regards
  2. Brentc - you bring a wealth of experience to these forums and I always enjoy your posts. It was an outspoken minority which spoilt it for everyone else. A true to life situation which seems so common these days. (What time is Matlock on.....) ;):big_grin::big_grin: regards
  3. (Wow Captain, you sure put the knockers on this story. i_dunnoi_dunno) ......unmentionables. So we won't...... Meanwhile - a lot of attention was being focused on a small Victorian hamlet called Nohopetown, which like so many of its neighbours (it once was a two horse town) was really feeling the pinch when it came to Aviation. Fear not, said...... regrads
  4. And that Kaz - is why I started this thread  - how do you get around the ASIC with the pre plan bit? regards :big_grin:
  5. I'd say it's your best bet - If you want to use the aircraft radio. If you're down low, and use 123.45 then it won't go far (line of sight) anyway. regards
  6. Don't you just land across the strip??:big_grin::big_grin: can't help myself. regards
  7. So what's the deal - do I have to 'phone first, or can I just drop in?:big_grin::big_grin: regards
  8. The last time RA-AUS ran a forum, it degenerated into a slanging match and fell into disrepute. I was a member for a very short time - taken over by a few people who were probably armchair pilots. :yuk: The reason why this forum survives is because of strict moderation. Aircraft1 - I'm sure you meant no disrespect to Slarti - but mate you need to check your spelling - your first word in your last post is by itself, inflammatory. :black_eye: regards :big_grin::big_grin:
  9. Wow - Rom - Some very sound advice there! and, Bendorn - I'm planning to be there as well  - just make sure the barby is ready to go!! (lets see, 1 x CT4, 1 x Jabiru J160c, 1 x Cheetah and what the Mildura boys are flying......) ;) regards
  10. Last Narromine I stopped at Griffith on the wy home to Echuca. Taxied to the aircraft parking area across from the Griffith Aero clubrooms and went inside to have lunch and a cuppa (as did half of the Narromine crowd on their way home). I don't think I spotted a single ASIC card on display.:confused: So my qestions are: 1. do I assume that if I leave the airport thru the RPT loung/access point I will need an ASIC card to get back thru the Passenger Terminal to my aircraft? 2. Have I (and many others) allready broken a law (by not having or displayed an ASIC card? Although I didn't leave the area? 3. Is this a similar scenario at other airports? (your airport?) regards
  11. LittlePete, (my 10 yr old grandson) is lookig for a Jabiru to fly in his FSX. Apparently they are only available for FS2002 and FS2004. Is this correct?:big_grin: regards
  12. Have you though about hosting a mini flyin - just for the day. Do a spot of advertising in the local rag and radio. Get the locals out to see and talk to the pilots etc etc. I'm sure most of us who live quite close would make the effort. Even if you could get 6 or 7 different aircraft it might help get things rolling.:big_grin::big_grin: regards
  13. One of my friends (yes, I do have some!) here in Echuca has a Zodiac 601HDS with an 80 hp Rotax in it (three blade ground adj prop). It flies beauitifully and is very responsive at the controls. Putting a bigger motor (Jabiru 3300/Corsair) doesn't seem to make them go that much faster - something to do with the chord of the wing (its quite thick) I'm told. The zodiac has large wheels and wide track which gives good ground control (and smoother landings and take offs). regards
  14. What a shame - a lovely looking aircraft, someones pride and joy. At least the owner will be able to build/buy again! :big_grin::big_grin: regards
  15. Fair enough, mate. Fair enough. :big_grin::big_grin: regards
  16. Hey Kaz - I'm very impressed with the quality of your photos.:thumb_up::thumb_up: What camera are you using? (Meant to ask you on Saturday!) regards :big_grin:
  17. Well Bum - I'm sorry I missed you too Brentc - nice looking bus you have, and I do like your description. Quote "...the stretched 160..." Unquote ah well, next time.:big_grin::big_grin: regards
  18. Wow - spare parts at Supa Cheap  - spark plugs, leads, caps, oil filters, and solenoids. (What else?) Not that many years ago people joked that you could just about buy Holden parts at the local deli (or just grab a bit of fence wire from the side of the road and repair what ever was broken). These days of course the Holden car is quite a sophisticated vehicle. I guess what I'm trying to say Slarti is I don't see being able to buy parts at Supa Cheap as a reflection of Jabiru qualtiy - I bet any Rotax, Continental and Lycoming driver would love to have spart parts available at automotive prices in so many locations across the country. If ya get my drift. I would also think that an auto solenoid would be quite a robust unit, given its intended workload. Just my 2 bobs worth.:big_grin::big_grin: regards
  19. Had a great day at the Echuca Airport on Saturday. With grandson in tow (LittlePete) we sat in the sun and counted.... three Jabiru 160's and one 170, one Sting, one Cessna 172 and 210, one Sabre, one Piper Chieftan, two Cherokee's, one Piper Lance, one YAK 52, one Savanah, one Quicksilver, and one Zodiac 601. "Well it doesn't get much better than this" I thought to myself as the radio speaker came to life ".....CT4 is 10 miles to the South at 2500 inbound Echuca" Now I'm not a fast thinker, but I knew there aint to many of those kicking around. (CT4's) This could be the famous Matt and Kaz flying duo I said to LittlePete. And so it came to be. Had a wonderful chat with our Kyneton neighbors and Ben Longden. LittlePete was so chuffed to get a sit in the CT4. (As soon as we got home he downloaded one for his flight simulator) All in all - a great day. regards
  20. Try here. Click on manuals on the left hand side. www.jabiru.net.au regards
  21. Yes - it's back, looking better than ever. The Jabiru is one tough little bird.:thumb_up: :big_grin::big_grin: regards
  22. You're best bet is to talk to Cliff Banks from Swan Hill. Cliff altenates between Wentworth and Echuca (once a fortnight) on Friday and Saturday. As he is only 60 miles from Hopetoun he maybe be able to work something in for you. But you would probably have to come up with 3 or 4 students to make it worthwhile, and it may have to be on a weekday. Anyway he is a mine of information, well worth the cost of a phone call. Cliff Banks - Mobile 0429 346650 Regards
  23. ..and come to think of it they did get my best side!!!!:big_grin::big_grin: egads
  24. Yes, but I'm not as famous as Ben, or Slarti....... (on the cover of the rolling stone...) sigh.:big_grin::big_grin: regards
  25. and a partridge in a pear tree.:big_grin::big_grin: regards
