  1. Hello young lady, well, compared to me you're young. How come you've only just gotten round to introducing yourself yet have already 2 like and 3 trophies. Where in South Australia do you fly and what rec aircraft?
  2. No way that's a problem Bex. Exercise is good for you. Also give you time to focus your mind on the day's task.
  3. How do I turn off email notifications? I'm receiving too many of them.
  4. I have to accept it being right but those mail wheels always seem too far back to me. Not a beauty in my eyes.
  5. We often got shown the intercept films. Just a fun game for pilots of both sides.
  6. Hey, no one else on this thread so no worries. I remember Blue Parrot, a bomber tail radar I think. My only dealings with gyro gun sights was the one designed by a woman and used air-knife technology. Used in the early V-bombers very successfully. A marvelous piece of equipment. I can't remember who made the double ganged gyros for the Lightning nav equipment, probably Sperry.
  7. This may be known to you or maybe not. However, if you have time on your hands, go and investigate. www.aviadejavu.ru/Site/Indexes/Arts2-4.htm#en If this link doesn't work, play with it a bit.
  8. Hey DL, whilst stationed at Leuchas I had occasion to visit Ferranti's factory. I can't remember as to why now but I did have the opportunity to question one of their designers re A.I.23/B attack radar fitted to Lightnings. My question was, 'In the equation relating to all inputs to the analogue computer, there are elements a and b. What do they refer to and where do they come from?' (or something like that). His reply was, 'We don't know, they're just there. ' Well, whatever they were, the radar worked very well, especially when you know that there wasn't a single soldered joint in it.
  9. This aircraft, the Argosy, replaced the Blackburn Beverley, also known as the flying Dutch Barn. I believe the Argosy was not as successful as had been hoped and became known as the Whistling TIT due to its turbine engines and nipple like radome. I saw the very first one delivered to RAF Abingdon, 53 Sqdn if memory serves me well. I was but a rookie in the RAF at the time and served with 47Sqdn.
  10. "Nevertheless I will answer: It´s my daughter" In that case I will behave myself. She's beautiful, you should be very proud.
  11. Oh what a good turn out. Beautiful weather but a testing cross wind. Pilots opting for slight headwind or tail wind depending on how brave you are to come in over Tim's home. Hear are a few photos and a couple of short videos. Hmm, can't upload videos sorry.
  12. Joachim, nice to have you with us. Now tell us what we really want to know, who's your beautiful companion.
  13. I made an inquiry: The Vampire is powered by a 60Hp, 2 cylinder, 4-stroke HKS-700E motor. Thrust is provided by a Bolly three bladed carbon fibre propeller. This Vamp has a one piece tilting canopy. The aircraft is designed to have the wings permanently attached to the fuselage and assembly from trailer to fly is less than 10 minutes as the control surfaces stay attached and adjusted. A custom trailer is available at extra cost. This is the most beautiful aircraft to fly. Please go to www.wedgetailaircraft.com.au to see a video of the Vampire flying. I hope this helps, please give me a ring if you need further assistance. 0468713545 Thanks Kind Regards Frankie
  14. Hi Searey, to our forum. Nice plane the Searey, hope you've got the engine well sorted before you fly it.
  15. I think it wasn't parked but had stopped to let the guy on the ground cross the road. White lines would indicate a pedestrian crossing.
  16. I'm left handed but when it comes two sweaters, I generally use my right hand, or both
  17. I flew with British Eagle back in the late 60's when posted to RAF Seletar on Singapore Island. One event I'll never forget was hitting an air pocket and the plane fell on my head. Flew home two and a half years later in a RAF VC10, a much nicer flight all round.
  18. OOPS, sorry George, should have read your introductory post more carefully. Posters very seldom add their true name to a post and we get used to calling them by a shortened user-name.
  19. Coincidence, I was researching this plane yesterday. There are other videos on line but not any techie details that I could find. The mid-fuselage prop reminded me of my Bolt design, which btw, many poo-par'd.
  20. Hmm, I'm not sure! My new instrument panel This or this Or maybe, all red.
  21. OK Phil, funny......sort of. Are you saying I've described the wrong aircraft. Wouldn't be surprised but it's definitely the same bridge over which it (whatever) flew.
  22. Actually I was referring to posts prior to Phil's Spitfire photo so you go unpunished. Obviously, several of us were typing at the same time and posts came in 'out of order'.
