  1. That's what I thought but they're a different pitch. I've searched for unused holes and there aren't anymore, not even on the boom.
  2. If you watch the earlier videos, especially the first flight one, you'll see it appears there is a problem with yaw control. We don't know what engine he had in it then.
  3. Having rebuilt my cockpit assembly, I'm in that awful position where I have 2 parts left over. Anyone know where they might go? This is where I'm up to.
  4. I once saw an advert for something similar but have not been able find it again so they're out there.............somewhere.
  5. Perhaps, one day, you'll be able to purchase a sprung hub wheel something like this one I designed.
  6. Thanks guys. Might look into a dash cam type and deconstruct it. Go Pro's are WAAY too expensive for my needs and pocket.
  7. I hope this is the correct page to be posting but here goes. I want to build-in a micro camera at the top of the fin on my Thruster, rather than have drag and installation/removal problems of a Go-Pro or similar camera. Can anyone recommend a suitable, tried and tested camera of the lipstick type, or even just a remote lens/sensor fitting? I saw a minute one years ago which had a fabulous resolution and was less than the size of my thumb-nail.
  8. Nothing wrong with the system and nothing wrong about thinking outside the square (see my avatar)
  9. Kerry, good idea to learn how to land and possibly save your life, and your husbands if he's still alive. But why stop at learning just how to land the thing, go the whole hog and get your own certificate to fly. You won't regret it, well, apart from the pain in the hip pocket.
  10. When learning to fly, my instructor made me try a strong cross wind landing which I totally f***ed up. He took control, went round and said, if the conditions are too bad, use all the available space to get down. One the threshold, he had the plane waaay over to the right, beyond the runway markers and then he turned into the wind, landing quite safely on the grass, crossed the runway and onto the grass the other side. A bit bumpy but a safe landing in horrible conditions. So, when you find yourselves in a similar situation, forget the center line, use the space that is available.
  11. Almost a perfect 3 pointer, but mains down first. At Christmas time, they fitted one out with a high powered audio system and flew around low and slow playing Christmas carols.
  12. Glad to see that my little video has started a conversation between you all. I'm 6ft tall and weigh 100kgs My waist size varies between 115cm and 105cm dependent on how hard I suck it in. Obese? Doc says I should loose 15Kgs for my age but my bathroom scales are stuck at 100. I just hoping that my Thruster will pick me up when it's time to fly again.
  13. Enjoy. Eat Like The One You Want To Be
  14. Can anyone aid my bad memory as I can't remember where the S/S shim goes in the under-carriage assembly. Is it used as a barrier between steel springs and the alloy cross member, or is it to spread the load under the bolt heads? There are spring washes under the nuts. Should have taken photos before disassembling the craft. OK, sorted it myself. It goes on top as a load sharer. Did take photos after all.
  15. Graham, can you tell us more about this mid prop flying flea?
  16. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who died. Very sad indeed.
  17. I don't know why, but that v-tail looks out of place on an otherwise beautiful plane.
  18. Thanks for that advice IBoB. I'll take it and find a way to 'boot' it.
  19. I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel in that my Thruster re-build is now underway. New floor in situ but not fixed. It's a snug fit and I might leave like that. New shock-cord fitted to rudder pedals, seat mounts re-positioned to take the seat and the battery tray clipped into place just for this photo. Next to-do is getting a new control column. the pivot point is now under the seat so I need a new one with a crank in it. Re-assembly of the boom supports will also take place this week. Whilst the wheels and suspension legs are ready, I'm leaving them off for the time being. I've got a question though. Plastic cable guides have a very narrow 'slot' into which the rivets go. How do you do it? A special rivet puller head? I met up with Ben/SVD (Bob) and his brilliant artist wife Margaret during the week and saw his 'gifted' Gemini. What a lovely find. Needs very little done to it but he tells me he's going to pull it to pieces so that he understands it's make-up. Skins are in excellent condition for it's year, not rotten like mine. Anyway, I'll leave it to him to talk you through his journey on a thread that I'm sure he'll be happy to open (get of of that, Bob)
  20. Re noise, yes, I agree. But just how much weight are those flimsy structures going to be able to carry. not as much as a drone unless they are HUGE.
  21. I start my day with a visit to this site (well, after F/b) and every day, I find snippets of advice for good or bad. Without it, I could be heading for trouble one day so, Ian, I fullheartedly thank you, and the moderators, for your time and effort in running this site.
  22. Didn't know about these spring problems, so thanks guys for the advance warning and advice.
  23. No matter how good the engineering, I personally can't see it being very useful, nor ever replacing the drone.
  24. You can see her from New Zealand IBob, bloody 'ell, must have done something right then. Thanks for your comment mate, it's much appreciated.
  25. Been a while since I last posted so.............................I said this would be a long journey and it's turning out to be longer than I thought. Whilst the "do a little every day" idea is good in theory, it's no so good when you turn 75, the weather is way too hot and you have visitors from the UK staying with you. I got a little despondent over my person skills whilst repairing the pod on my kite. I couldn't get a good finish on the f/glass and consequently, the following paint job is crap. (It's all in the preparation folks, no matter what you're doing) Anyway, here are a few photos of the journey thus far. Not started on the engine yet Hmm, wifey took over half the garage yesterday to store the overflow of her "craft stuff". Just another hurdle in the journey to the skies.
