  1. Bex, follow your dream, do your own thing and forget the nay sayers. If Boeing can mix metal and composite materials, so can you.
  2. gliderpilot from Norway just landed. Bl**dy long flight that. Must have had some terrific thermals.
  3. Motz, perhaps you should state the type of plane/s that prospective instructors need to be compliant with.
  4. Had it been a Cessna, Piper, Mooney or any other GA aircraft, I wonder what would have been said. Also, how much would it have cost and how long would it have taken to recover such planes. Indeed, would they all survive the out-landing at all? Tough birds those Jabirus. Flew again within the week.
  5. JohnC, you're quite right re re your comments on Japan, the originators of modern day quality. However, it's not 'control' that's important in the scheme of things. It's ASSURANCE. Q.C. comes after the product has been made, Q.A. comes before. Large companies pay attention to how their suppliers will assure that they follow the design to the 'nth' degree. No matter where or in what country the manufacture actually takes place. I worked 20 years for Tenneco's Walker Muffler division and was involved in the change from Q.C. to Q.A.. A long and tedious path to be sure. I won't go into details but, when it's set up correctly, even the Chinese have to follow the rules or face HUGE consequences. It does, however, take a lot of cash to set it up and I too, doubt that Jabiru are financially up to it or have the know-how to do it.
  6. As you say, a beautiful city and some great flying. Thanks for posting.
  7. G'day Antonius, welcome to our forum. Please share your story and pictures with us.

  9. Oi, you avin ago at me signiture?
  10. I'm happy with Squadron Leader.
  11. Hey guys, I wasn't having a go at you individuals but at those who set the standards in the American language/dictionary.
  12. Do birds get embarrassed? Good question, but it depends on to which type of bird you are referring. In the case of your story, well the answer is probably, no. After all, he never said "SH*T" after the event. Unlike a young nurse I was dating a long time ago who farted and then realized that her panties were wet. Sh*t indeed. Was she embarrassed, oh yes, bloody hell, YES.
  13. Spell check!! Yanks can't spell and most browsers use their system. I've tried loading the English version but even that seems to be wrong at times.
  14. Reported this morning in an overseas forum, Camit have closed their doors and are no longer trading. What the repercussions are likely to be for Jabiru is anyone's guess.
  15. Right Rudder, I liked it. You have a good imagination and a way with words. When's the next installment coming? Flyame started with but one short story and finished with a published book. Are you the to be the next author from these forums?
  16. This web address actually works Aquila Airpark
  17. Late in replying but I almost choked when I saw "€1200 + vat + shipping!!!" My Thruster seat was way too tight and didn't give me any back support so I've bought a rally-car seat and cover for just over $200. Before you say anything, yes, it is a bit heavier but a damned sight more comfortable.
  18. Thanks for your comments guys. Might have to try saving some of the money I don't have.
  19. Nightmare, it is a nightmare. I'm not sufficiently well off to complete my conversion and my restoration will be a long one for the same reason. A little at a time. The T83/4 what ever mine is, is a single seat aircraft so can't fly with an instructor. Might have to do it the old way, teach myself. Only trouble is, getting recognized as competent. The lessons I have had were in a Crafter's SportCub, tandem seat "Cub" like aircraft. Beautiful plane to fly and so easy to land. Pity costs have gone up so quickly and my pension has remained the same. Some how, some day, I will fly my plane.
  20. As you may know, I'm currently restoring a T83/4 Thruster to flying condition and obviously am looking forward to flying it. Problem is, I have an lapsed tricycle u/c license and have had only 2 lessons in a tail dragger. How do I go about being legal to fly it without paying out big dollars (which I haven't got) to get proficient and legal if using my plane to train in? Also, will I be able to re-register it under it's original number, 10-1346
  21. Hi Frank. As you have got this book in .PDF form, couldn't you put a link here on the forum so that we all could read it without bothering you further? I'd sure like to read it.
  22. I was so pleased to see our magazine back in the news-agents today. Obviously, I bought one as my membership to the new RAAus Ltd lapsed some years ago so it's been a while since I last saw one. Looking forward to some catch-up reading this evening.
  23. Why not Pilots Shop.com and have sub headings for supplies and aircraft for sale.
  24. Was looking at my existing ASI a couple of days ago and I'm damned if I can see how to open it. Yeh, I know I shouldn't but...................I have my reasons.
  25. Great video Pylon, thanks.
