Icom A22 from direct ship power?
Robbo replied to Soleair's topic in Instruments, Radios and Electronics
as an avionics tech in my former life, doesen't really matter but ensure you have some sort of protection fuse inline from the bus to the radio as secondary protection from the c/b. Some people have different opinions to this but it doesen't really matter in tech terms. Who told you the above? Someone trying to empty your wallet? -

The pros and cons of flight instructing?
Robbo replied to NT5224's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Mates who I know says "getting to fly everyday and helping people reach there dreams" it is not all about money nor hour building (well hour building maybe) -

Don't laugh when I say this, put hydraulic or electric rams on them so the hydraulics lift the lid.. Do you need to store them down below or can they just be held up? Oh crap now I am just confusing myself and making the task more difficult. Crawling back under my rock now!!

Sadly, I think in 100 years the children of our childrens children will be talking about this. It will be like a long lost ship wreck.

Then why do the update at that time? The update could wait if the data was important, they always say you will lose "anything on the device" even though most time it doesn't wipe apple still states you will lose the data on the device.

There is an option to get into a screen with quick access, cannot remember exactly on how to find it but it allows to create quick access way points, like favorites on your computer, maybe I am thinking of a different FMS but there is an option in one of them, forget how I got into it but I was shown it by someone and there words were "hardly anyone knows you can do this" Not sure if anyone uses the menu, but will check it out when I can and make sure I am not thinking of something else.

I remember using the wind sock as a guide during the first few hours of training, start flaring when you are halfway up the windsock. But ultimately in the end just continue to fly towards the end of the runway and slowly hold back pressure as you feel the aircraft sink, basically arrest any sink and do not allow the aircraft to land. She will touch down as smooth as hot butter on bread.

The first thing you do before updating is a BACKUP !!! I never do a backup, the reason for that is I have nothing on the ipad of importance so doesn't matter if I lose everything It simply runs ozrunways. Plus, once I have updated I fully reset the ipad and start fresh with the new OS and don't have to worry about update issues.

Sh*t... I was only thinking a week or so ago that ozzie had not be posting for a while and was nearly going to send a pm. R.I.P mate, enjoyed the stories via numerous PM's... mainly about base jumping and sky diving. I was nearly going to PM him and get his opinion on a post someone started about "do wing suit flyer's have a death wish". Sadly, if I did my PM would go unanswered. Keep safe people, and keep up with the doctors appointments.

The thing is on the FMS you have Perth/Penang in close proximity (in the menu) if you are suffering hypoxia or from smoke inhalation you are that dazed and seeing double vision you could easily hit Perth and off to Perth you go, until the plane is destroyed by fire or runs out of fuel and crashes in the ocean.

Ummm, well I updated and never lost a thing. But let me guess, you never did a backup?
