  1. Had the same problem when my last battery packed it in. Started with jumper leads. Whilst radioing my taxi intentions the radio went dead on Tx. It gave a squealing sound! Aborted the flight, installed new battery. PHIL.
  2. 2.5 amp does not work for my situation. PHIL.
  3. Sounds identical to my Jab problem. I do have two charging outlets, one either side of panel. Neither will charge the iPad. The same adaptor works in the car. I can only surmise that the voltage is too low for the iPad, as it charges the iPhone ok. PHIL.
  4. My iPad won't charge from the cig lighter socket, although works with iPhone. Purchased a couple of larger amp adapters, still no go. They all work in the car so I assume that the electrical system in just not good enough. Frustrated, I purchased a battery pack backup for about $100. Job fixed. PHIL.
  5. Patjar is north of Warburton, worth a look. Good strip and fuel if you ring. We decided to go that way after staying overnight at Giles enroute to Coral Bay. Probably a bit out of your way though. The community turned up and opened the "shed" fantastic display of art at very reasonable prices. Would recommend PHIL.
  6. Maybe it's a northern hemisphere compass. My first thought PHIL.
  7. Just claim it as an expense, like you would if you hired casual labour. That's my understanding. PHIL.
  8. I seem to recollect that we get an invoice per email acknowledging our nenewal. A printed copy should be ok. Phil
  9. I asked my accountant this same question a few years back. He said that it would be very hard to justify the business purchasing the aircraft Instead, he suggested that I bill the business for any legitimate costs associated with this. I.e hourly rate. Never done it but guess it would be OK if logbook entry records the activity to be claimed. PHIL.
  10. Just my personal feeling with no evidence or intent meant. If one was to do a search on this site for the most anti Jab comments, it may shed some light on the possible sources of "Our own investigations" comment from CASA. A witch hunt would probably be a backward step, IMHO. PHIL.
  11. Civil aircraft register | Civil Aviation Safety Authority https://www.casa.gov.au › standard-page This gives you details of a particular aircraft including owner name and address, manufactured date etc. Only GA.

  13. Thanks Eric, that clears it up for France. Still not sure about Italy ? Cheers PHIL
  14. Hi Eric, Just a question for you to clarify my understanding of your compliance. Is it mandatory to have ballistic recovery systems in EU? I visited an airfield in country Italy recently where all the aircraft had BRS. Due to the language barrier I was not able to confirm. Your reply would be welcome. Meanwhile enjoy your Sav. Cheers PHIL.
  15. Same thing happened to me with instructor when training in an old Jab. I made sure it never happened again by wiggling the flap handle to make sure it was in the slot. My memory was that it went off with a fair bang. Phil
  16. Can't remember where I saw a croc size. Sculpture, looked the real thing.
  17. That's why we have current Cv's before employment plus a thorough follow up of referees. Buyer beware comes to mind. I have in the past felt some empathy for out of work employees BUT from experience I now stick to my rules. This is probably hard to follow if employing a casual worker for a few days, which I think your post may refer to. Just my opinion. PHIL.
  18. A very interesting discussion here. Being a Jab owner for the past 10 years. One point I think that could have been asked by the Senator, "What does Jabiru have to do to get the instrument removed"? They, CASA acknowledged that the latest work done on the problems are some 900 hours of operation. How many hours do they want? Need? PHIL.
  19. I was onboard a jet ranger in the Kimberly. A croc attacked the skids. Happened on Mongomery reef. One mad croc. PHIL.
  20. Trevor Wright on radio today said that the pilot was from Maitland SA. Passenger would not comment on Elt until he made some phone calls? Phil
  21. 8 hr flight Caloundra to Loxton yesterday. I encountered a problem on Ozrunnways. I reversed the flight plan, it gave correct heading and track but the eta showed the time and distance FROM the waypoint. 296 GPS was flawless. In future I won't be reversing a flight plan, just enter a new one. iPad 3 is what I am used to and won't be changing to a mini. Phil.
  22. Guys, I have a problem keeping my iPad charged on longer day trips. The cig lighter charger plugged in sometimes gives a note to the iPad " not compatible with this device" although works faultlessly in the car. I will try turning off the transponder or one radio and see if that fixes the problem next time up. Noted in a previous post that someone mentioned a battery back up. Any info on these would be helpful, brand, cost etc. Phil.
