  1. Hi Porra, welcome, we are about 2 hrs north of the Gold Coast at Caboolture... if you are ever up this way let me know.. David
  2. Ok I will take a stab in the dark, was he....Richard VanGrunsven, I think he was the 1st President of the Kit Builders of America and designed the RV aircraft.. David
  3. Yes I watched it, it was a drawn out a affair and as I remember the whole thing didn't work to well, the plane was radio controlled of course and they had set up an area with sensors and all there camera equipment. The time come and in she flew but it crashed short of where it was supposed to crash land, I think they still got data and video but I think it was a bit of a disaster for them not landing where in was supposed to. David
  4. Sounds good to me Mark...how about that Alan...
  5. As I said before, I am all for whatever it takes, whether it be training or a 3rd party, we need to get this discussion going within our whole group and as a group I could not think of to many more things to spend money that are more important, now and into the future.
  6. Turbo sorry that's crap, this problem is all of our problem and as such needs to be addressed by our RA-Aus and with input for the membership if we want this changed, one person will do nothing !!!
  7. I am with you 100% Maj..
  8. Well that may be the case Turbo but just because it is done this way doesn't make it right, this policy helps no one..IMO..I think it should be a discussion issue, I don't how you do it, I am not in the a legal person but I think it it needs to be addressed and not just talked about.. people that I have spoken to and in general say it needs to be changed so that we get full disclosure after all the facts are bought together, well lets get off our bums and bloodly well do something about it..its just to important.. (I have just seen the class action tread, maybe I should have put this there) David
  9. Well I have one, I propose we are given full disclosure on the findings from accidents so that we can all learn what went wrong and how it went wrong, not just this sanitised version we seem to get, how can we fix it if we dont know? Was it a structual failure of the aircraft in which case we can send our a circular to owners to check their planes or was it a training failure in human factors or similar, we can include it into our training program or work harder on the particular problem that was indentified. We are losing good people and we need this info to try and fix it IMO. So their is my motion for the meeting. David
  10. Well Mark that is something that I have discussed with Alan about his new design, that is if later he can make it into a amphibian or on floats maybe. I too, really do want a Searey but if Alan can work his design to work for us on water, well I think it will be far cheaper than a Searey or Seamax..I am really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with and the price he/we can build them for. There are people that have lots of money to buy a 100K aircraft I am not one of those sorry to say, so I am with Alan 100%, I don't need to get somewhere in a hurry, it's not a job, I want to enjoy the scenery beneath me, I want to be able to feel the wind in my face with hopefully some big slide back windows and most important be flying a safe and the bonus, hopefully, of a nice looking plane that seats 2 people, that's what I think he will try and get us. David
  11. Yes thanks Ozzie, great films from the old days..it really does show where we have come from and where we are now..
  12. Hello Ryan, Welcome to QLD, I train at Go Fly in Caboolture and I agree with Scott, talk to Neil or Damien or a new young instructor Ritchie, great bunch or guys and a relaxed atmosphere, and great training, you can't go wrong IMO.. I might see you there David P.S .. No Neil I won't ask you for a credit on my next lesson for this recomendation
  13. Nice vid there CB, we had our share here in Caboolture but lucky for us the Caboolture river comes up fast and goes down very quick to...
  14. Yes you are correct mate
  15. Watching that video reminded me of this >>>>
  16. Would love to have had some real video of those times...
  17. Guess it is an amphibian..
  18. Welcome guys..
  19. Welcome Keith, I to have the same issue about WHO to give my vote to...good luck.. David
  20. Andy and Captain I thankyou for you responses...
  21. Andy, I believe that a minority is less than 50% of any club or entity? No I respect your opinions as I expect you to do with mine, but I am sorry, I didn't ask you or anyone to spend your own money on conference calls etc. See Andy this one of the problems, you say that you don't intend to stay a minority, well get up on your soap box and open up and tell everyone what you and your group intend to do now (before the meeting)and into the future, maybe then you will get more members (and proxies)to side with you and your group, and I am not saying this just for your group, but all the others should do the same if they want to be supported by the majority. Yes it is my right were my vote goes, and I would love to come to Canberra to voice my opinion but that is not possible right now. The Webinar is an idea that must be used in the future IMO. Yes that is a definate thing that has to happen if we want the bulk of our membership to be involved. Like I said Andy if you have chosen to spend your own money and time to the detriment of your family that is entirely your business, but I then have to ask what do you and your group expect in return for this sacrifice? Andy, I'm am sure you are an honest and a good guy but from where I sit, and as do many others I would imagine, I just see someone speaking words to me in a forum, with all due respect I don't know you from a bar of soap as I don't know anyone else on this forum personally, I just don't feel for this reason I can give anyone here my vote, maybe that will change in the future but as of right now, no..sorry that's just the way I feel about it. David
  22. It will certainly be interesting to see how many actually turn up for the meeting and how many proxies in total will be presented out of a membership of thousands.. I personally can not give my vote to people I have not met, when all I have read about their views is either on this forum or in other forms of media (our magazine), I would not give my vote to a politician from only what he has said or written and then let him go with my vote to a meeting that I can not attend, there is just no way I can do that. I won't go over again about all that has been said about web cams and all of that stuff to be set up at the meeting so that all can see what's going on, it' a good idea by the way, but I will say this, that until something like that IS set up for these meetings no one will get my vote. Out of the thousands of members in RA-Aus it would be interesting to see who else thinks like this, I am sorry to say that there will be a minority group that will drive the direction of our association into the future...until a fair and open playing field for ALL members is brought about..IMO.. I for one will be glad when all of this is over and we can get back to talking about things we all enjoy talking about..flying.. David
  23. Thanks Riley...I will contact you once I know some more details...and yes I think that will be a certain thing that I will have to do is to find a 3 rd party over there to do and inspection on the aircraft and a report before I exchange an money... Thanks for the inputs all... David
  24. FT not sure where it is from yet, I am waiting for more info on this particular Searey...
