  1. I think there are a lot of people following that story Alan, I hope too that Flyerme can give us another chapter soon..good story hey..
  2. Yes on the water is good..under the water is bad... I will certainly be checking that one out..
  3. Yes I am really looking forward to seeing more....
  4. Yes I would agree with a #24 rego but as far as my Searey is concerned there are already #19 registered here so I don't think I will have any problems there. FAA in the states, I believe have just given their approvals for factory built Searey's that could be registered 24 but they start at about $124k, which is a little above my budget, but one good thing I suppose with that, is that there will be heaps of really nice home built Searey's on the market soon in the U.S..
  5. Yes, not sure Hongie that's something I would like to know as well...hopefully someone might know the answer..
  6. Your planes were surely seasoned travellers by the time they arrived here at Brisbane hey. Yes I could imagine the suspense as you threw open the doors to that container and to see your planes for the first time...I bet you can still remember the feelings FT... David
  7. Ok thanks for the info FT
  8. Probably a good idea IMO...on ya bike.. back to the Bahamas...
  9. Yes looks fair enough, of course the GST etc would change depending on the final cost out of the US, plus I would need add to all of this, a L2 I would guess would need to put it all back together, it will need to be painted and then of course all the admin stuff for RA-Aus that they would require me to do, not sure what they would require an how much. Thanks FT David
  10. A Searey amphibian..an older model but it has been up dated with the latest hull etc..and yes thats what I am hoping that it will cheaper this way..
  11. I would like to buy a plane from a company in the U.S.A, it is a LSA kit plane and has been flying there only a short time ago but was pulled down to rebuild it, I will get this company to rebuild it there as I have no experience in rebuilding aircraft or the time for that matter and then it will need to be pulled down for transporting here. Could someone here tell me what would be involved in importing this aircraft here? I know I will have to pay GST on the plane etc and R-Aus rego 19 I would guess but what are the other things that would need to be considered, or is it just these things that I have already noted and it is all basicly easy to do. Does anyone have any experience with doing this that they could pass on to me, thanks. David
  12. Looking at the writing on the banner behind it I think it's a Russian contraption? ...
  13. I would say for a Tech Manager you would set up the KPI on not how much he would achieve in a day a month or a year but the accuracy that he performs his duties, maybe you would get an independant assessor in each month or every quarter to go through his work and check that he has done his work in a accuate and timely fashion and then give him a performance % say each quarter for arguement sake, which after 4 quarters gives him a total score for the year, that would then determine if he is performing or whether he needs extra training or the big boot ??? I don't know if that make any sense but how I would see a KPI working in this instance. David
  14. Ratchet, lets hope that you and your 1991 Camry never have a serious accident, you might then wish you went past the fuel injection technology and got the later model with air bags and ABS etc..
  15. I think it is some sort of light weight wool blowing in with the wind or a computer trick..probably the later ...
  16. Ratchet, The post heading said.. "Cheap 2 seater anyone", HIC is just trying to design us a new affordable plane using exsiting technology, I am still willing to look at it. All of us still go out and buy a new car from time to time it still has 4 wheels, doors, seats and a engine that in general has been around for donkey years but we buy one because it has some new or updated features and of course it has the new smell, same thing with a plane. So IMO until someone comes up with a entirely new propulsion and with an anti gravitational system like the Jetsons nothing that I can think of will be truely mind blowing its all about finding a great combination of features that people want at the time and combining them into a new aircraft and if you can do that well, I think you will do alright. David
  17. Hi Robert, Yes I am an older guy and I am still training as well up in Caboolture QLD, money is always a consideration while you are training and it never seems to get any cheaper, I have had to have a break over Xmas from training because of this, I don't like it because it is good to keep it all fresh in your mind but what can you do, real life before pleasure I'm afraid. I read how these other people go solo in 15 hrs etc and at times that depressed me as I thought, am I just stupid or something why haven't I gone solo yet but then, one day I was told by my CFI that it is not a race to go solo or get your pilots licence its a journey everyone takes their own time, so thats the way I look at it now. :) I have seen on this forum that there are a lot of very experienced flyers here so don't be afraid to ask questions, I think you will learn a lot just reading the posts, I know I have. Good luck with your training Rob and have fun... David
  18. Looking forward to the next chapter...its a great story....
  19. Maybe he is still trying to get the smell out of his plane..
  20. Hi HIC, No I see it all, seems to be all there for me, the models look nice, so are you letting the cat out of the bag yet on how you intend to fold the wings? David
  21. Congrats...Well done
  22. Well if you would like to come up the coast a bit further (12hrs or so from Sydney) to Caboolture airfield which is just north of Brisbane we have things up here that may of some interest to you, like the Caboolture Warbird Museum and the Beaufort Restoration guys , there is a Flying Club and Gliding club and some great places to visit like the Sunshine Coast and Bribie Island beaches. If you come up this way and would like a chat or a beer or both PM me and I will give you my contact number. Good luck with your holiday and have fun. David P.S Here's a link for you to look at.. http://www.beaufortrestoration.com.au/
  23. Yes maybe a glider endorsement would be like the equivelent of a defensive driving program where it takes you to the next level in being aware of all things around you and your flying skills...sounds like a good idea to me !!
  24. Yes you can certainly sack them but then you have all the time and trouble of getting someone else and setting it up again..bah blah.. blah....technology is wonderful when it's working but extremely frustrating when it's not and a lot worse when you are paying good money for it to be run properly...I hope you get it all sorted out without to much loss of hair Ian. David
  25. Ok you have made a bad mistake in judgement or whatever...like the post above said...but you and and maybe a pax don't have die because of your mistake...no matter where you stand on this I would think the main thing is that you will be alive to go home to your loved one's and the next day you can learn from your mistake so that it never happens again...
