  1. Thanks fatmal, I'll give them a call. Just trying to see if it will be cost effective to do it as I am based in Perth and usually have to drive about 2 hours to get to my usual airfield. I just want to get current again so could be a few hours just to get back up to scratch.
  2. Does anyone know if you can do a BFR at YPJT under this exemption, without doing the medical? No need for soloflight for a BFR as there will always be an instructor on board.
  3. Hi Guys - you may want to have a read here: http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/rpl-is-comming-but-whats-it-bringing.29882/
  4. Is anyone familiar with Aerial Surveying/GIS. I am interested in studying GIS, particularly remote sensing and would like to work with aerial surveying. I'm just information gathering at the moment pondering going in this direction. Could mean I get to do a post Grad degree in GIS....
  5. I've always seen the King Air a a thing of beauty, esp the 350 - awesome video of a complete flight including startup, taxi, takeoff and landing, with ATC As the description says: A full King Air 350 flight from APA (Centennial Airport in Denver, CO) to TEX. Telluride Regional Airport sits atop Deep Creek Mesa and is North America's highest commercial airport. At 9,078 feet above sea level
  6. It needs some "go faster" stripes ;) Site theme looks great.
  7. Yeah, it doesn't come with a SD card so you won't get much change from $400 landed cost, once you include the memory card. Thanks for the mounting tips, will play around with it - good excuse to go flying now
  8. Thanks guys, appreciate the advice, can anyone recommend a good video editing software package? I am a beginner so probably won't be spending too much up front. Needs to run on windows 7 64 bit
  9. I wonder what the conversion from RAA to RPL will entail, i'm guessing the medical declaration from your doctor and pass the RPL/PPL exams and relevant flight tests, much like the conversion to PPL except no controlled airspace
  10. Hi guys Just got the gopro hero hd2 (motorsports edition) as an early xmas present from the missus ( God bless her :) ) Has anyone used it yet, got any remarks good or bad? I like the fact that it now has a mic in jack so you can record cockpit audio, which the previous versions didn't have. Nevermind all the other cool features. I've also gone for a 16GB class 10 SDHC card. Looks like a demon little camera, can't wait to try it out. What's the best way to mount it in the cockpit?? - not game to mount it outside yet
  11. Will Casa will have a field day with this? Throttle locks etc
  12. At 6"4' and I did my training in a j160/J230 and fitted quite comfortably, also fit in the Tecnam P92 Eaglet no problems
  13. Went along early and watched the arrivals from 9:30 onwards. Good turnout, RV's seem very popular :) I realised once I got there that I forgot my camera on the table at home, spewin.... Anyway got some shots on my phone sorry about the quality just thought I'd share. Enjoy.....
  14. Nice looking bird there Paul, look forward to the article :)
  15. Well this thread has motivated me to dust the bike off and get out the joggers ;)
  16. Very happy to see this, saw this on the SAAA site:
  17. Good stuff Brett good to see you back on here. Congrats on getting your CPL (H). I haven't been fyling for a while been making too many excuses i think it's time. I also need to knock over my BFR (time flies)...
  18. 5001 ;) no pressure......
  19. Yes I like the name, can we change the name of the organisation to something along those lines too?
  20. Orbx are building a J230 for FSX but I don't think it will be out for a while.. hopefully before the end of the year fingers crossed.
  21. Great photos, would make a great read if you were to submit an article to the mag :)
  22. Finally had a chance to have a read, personally I like the new name "Sport Pilot" much more appealing that "Recreational Aviation....." No doubt it will get more people interested. I wish they would change the name of the whole organisation to Sport Aviation or something similar. To me recreational aviation sounds a bit, well, boring.... In terms of content, yeah that needs improvement, more articles, I like the idea about features on particular aerodromes.. maybe more articles on the adventurous side, not just we flew to this airport and then that airport. How about abandoned or out of the way bush strips, camping under the wing, going places (within regulations of course) you can't go with anything other than the aircraft we fly? Of course we don't want to be seen as cowboys but need to promote the fun side of it, and that it can be done safely and legally. I also find articles of students learning to fly (ab initio that is) interesting, was we've all been there, and what a ride that is ;)
