  1. Thanks Pud - I had no idea about them, well about having a foxbat anyway. Might have to wander down there. Don't they have an annual fly-in sometime at White-Gum farm?
  2. Damn, the that's too bad I have always wanted to fly a foxbat but have never seen one, don't know of any over in WA, esp the LSA with 290 kg useable weight ( handy for pilots built like brick $h!thouses :) ) No good if you can't fit into them
  3. I'm 6'4" and fit fine in the J160 and Tecnam P92 Eaglet - no problems. I'm led to believe the Foxbat is quite roomy, as is the new Zenith Ch-750 but haven't seen one yet
  4. I found that you can practice the procedures on flightsim very well. I have FSX with the orbx scenery for WA, and also use the Allan Blencowe airstrips, so it's fairly customised but I find the navs can be flown spot on, with actual landmarks like powerlines, lakes, wheat bins, transmission towers etc in the correct spots. I custom built my pc for FSX so the graphics are quite good as well. I manually put the weather in e.g winds 226\16 and plan it as if you were planning a real nav. I was amazed at how accurate the sim actually is, woulf find myself overhead at the exact times planned. Sure it's no substitute for the real thing but great for practising planning, inflight procedures, checks, diversions etc. I found the tecnam Sierra (payware) is a great plane for it as well. And it's alot of fun too

    CH-701 or 750

Excuse my ignorance. So currently the CH 750 can't be registered with a MTOW of 600kg in Australia? Why is that? Doesn't leave much useable weight if it's 540kg
  6. Thanks Patrick, I did go to both shows, but I was blown away by the red arrows display...those boys can fly!
  7. I too was at this airshow back in '95, so it's not fake. Would love to see the video. I also recall going to the airshow at Charles Prince airport in Harare and seeing the Red Arrows, not sure if that was the same airshow but memorable just the same. Damn I was 16 at the time.. seems like yesterday :)
  8. or "odd bunch in the east" as I was taught ;)
  9. I would say doing it part time, you would be doing it for the love of it, as you wouldn't get paid alot, and would probably have to pay your own insurance as well. But then I can't think of many things I'd rather be doing ;)
  10. Bunbury Aero Club have a Tecnam Eaglet for Raaus training/hire
  11. Anyone game to develop an android version to get NAIPS weather? Can't seem to find one yet.
  12. My Desire has the Amoled screen, have they changed this on newer releases? Side note: I installed this Zagg invisible shield to protect from scratches - bit tricky to install but looks and feels great, happy with it, no difference in screen sensitivity which was my worry. You can order it locally from their dealer for faster delivery, but cost me less to order it from the US (took a couple of weeks to get here.) They have a promo on the website which discounts it..
  13. I would go the Galaxy or Desire on Telstra (purely for network speed and coverage) Very happy with my HTC desire, got me back into development writing apps for android looks a breeze (famous last words ;) )
  14. Had my HTC desire for about 2 weeks now, fantastic little unit.. good to see more and more apps appearing too, prefer it to the iphone as its more customisable, nice to see a real alternative to the iphone
  15. Can the Sierra be registered LSA? Ticks all the boxes except for usable weight in my case, or do they have plans to get LSA certification? Would be a fantastic package then
  16. Welcome Steve, how far along are you? have they finished the new runway yet?
  17. Excuse my ignorance but does the government not offer assistance for pilot training (CPL)? Something similar to fee help or HECS if you want to get a degree at uni for instance? There are aviation degrees I have read about where you do a cpl (worth looking at?) e.g. Bachelor Aviation (flying Stream) University of New South Wales - UNSW - Undergraduate Information Again I haven't researched extensively into this but may be worth a look
  18. I had an ASI failure on my first session of circuits, luckily the instructor was with me and showed me what to do, simple power and attitude, if the engines right (rpm), and the attitude is right, then speed should be correct. Flew an uneventful circuit and after putting her down we taxied back. Turned out the unit failed completely and is now a paperwight. Suppose it comes down to knowing your aircraft. This was in a j160
  19. HI Mick, another westaussie welcome! Keep us updated with the progress hope to see you around sometime, am often down at Jandakot just watching the traffic, to get my "fix" when I can't get up in the sky myself..
