  1. Thanks Mark....what can you do that Nicopress tool for? Scotty
  2. Hi Mark...not at all! I have always recommended your good service but sometimes its good to be just able to order straight off a website which is what I did. I will still use you! Scotty
  3. I got an order from the last week! All good then.
  4. Hiya Russell.....Im using a Corvair in my Pietenpol. My progress is on my web site. www.scottyspietenpol.com I could put you in touch with a chap in Qld who has just recently flown his Corvair powered Pietenpol. Anyway, ask any questions and if I can, I will help. Scotty
  5. Thank you Maj....appreciate you knowledge! Scotty
  6. Maj...thank you for your advice. While I have you here, the swages are available in either plain or coated. What are the pros and cons of each? Scotty
  7. Richo...thank you! You have answered my queries! I would imagine you would need to swage a lot of cables for the jaws to wear! Scotty
  8. Hi all...hoping to tap in to some of the great knowledge on here. I am building a Pietenpol Air Camper and am looking into the feasibility of making my own cables. I know...just pay someone to do it but that is not teaching me is it! I have been looking at the Nicopress 64-CGMP and brand new they are around the $260 plus freight or I could buy one secondhand for around $160 plus freight. Do these tools wear out as such or can they be adjusted over time? I attended the cables forum at NATFLY 3 years ago put on by the mueseum engineers and it inspired me to do it myself! I plan on other projects too so it wouldnt be a one off use tool. First of all, am I looking at the right tool for the job? Can the aircraft mechanics out there help me with this one please? Regards Scotty
  9. Wayne...you can be so childish......
  10. robinsm......your in denial that Natfly is all hunky dory! I offered soon after last years NATFLY to organise and run a full kids program and it was basically chucked back at me even after calls for help were announced. Its not the facilities as I believe they are fabulous. Sure, people like Carol put a mountain of work in to it but if you cant see that something big is missing, I pity you. I would love to see NATFLY as the premier aviation event of the year and have offered to help in some way to achieve this so dont think we are all sitting here criticising without putting our money where our mouths are! Something big needs to change and that was obvious this year by the lack of exhibitors. Scotty
  11. This looks like it will have everything NATFLY didnt!
  12. Ladies and Gents......I gave up on RAA ever having anything technical in their magazine a long time ago and joined the EAA and subscribed to Kitplanes magazine for less than $100 a year. I receive both magazines at the same time as every other member around the world and they are packed full of goodies. To try to replicate what the EAA has is like trying to reinvent the wheel. If your looking for technical articles, stop wasting your time and join the EAA. You wont regret it! In my opinion, RAA is trying to please too many sections and should be concentrating on what it was formed for in the first place, fun and economical flying. Scotty
  13. I think he means we should fit B & S to our planes! Maybe the 24Hp twin I have on my mower might get my Pietenpol off the ground!
  14. Cool...nearly there! I bought the bearings today for the control system and bell crank!
  15. Will be even cooler in an open cockpit...
  16. AN Bolts website is good. I have bought off them or Ians shop or Old Man Emu on here offers fab service. Do a little research and you will find decent people here in OZ. If not, its very easy and painless ordering from the USA now. Exchange rate is good too. Scotty
  17. Yup...I bought Spruce direct from the USA and it cost $330AUD. Old mate who is the AS&S rep up there wanted $880 odd dollars for the same order and then tried to spin me some BS about I would need to pay import costs! Didnt have to and will never buy anything from him again and let everyone know as well. I dont like greedy people! Scotty
  18. From Tom. You will find out that the freight cost for anything other than the rib cap strip from the USA will blow you away. Got a quote when I was buying the spruce for the tail. Its prohibitive! It goes on length of the package. Scotty
  19. Bloody hell! Thats the best news I have had all day! As a builder, I was deeply disappointed at the lack of technical forums at NATFLY and this is exactly what I need. I will post once I put some thoughts together. Scotty
  20. Just placed the order for my fuselage Spruce Phil. Thought I better pull my finger out or you will catch up! Trying to get a price out of Performance Metals for the tube to make the control system but they havent replied. I was going to buy one built from the USA but will make it from scratch I think. Scotty
  21. At the OzRunways forum at Natfly, Bas said they cant answer that because it depends on what type of flying you are doing. Apparently the discussion is going on within CASA unless I misunderstood. Scotty
  22. Well there seems to be a trend here....... Scotty
  23. Don....why would you only be enclosing the survey in members magazines? Im not a member yet but was there so wouldnt you get a better indication if you sent them with all magazines including those to the newsagents? Scotty
