  1. Geez I wish I was "Holier than thour" as some of you guys. The guy has made a mistake, a BIG mistake. Nobody was injured thank goodness except him. Sharing a cell with Bubba for the next 2 years is not appropriate. Sure ban him from flying for a length of time. We dont know his prior record. This could be the first mistake he's ever made. We all deserve a second chance. From what im hearing anyway, any person with a two year or less sentence will spend it at home on home detention. The guy has suffered enough since the accident and will beat himself up about it for the rest of his life im sure. As others have mentioned here, we all make mistakes. Some are bigger and sillier than others but it could be you at any time facing the magistrate. Put it in to perspective. RAAus should be jumping on this with the media putting the organisation in a positive light. How not to gain your wings! Scotty
  2. Indian maybe?...but then what would I know...
  3. Ian ...I believe you cant have both and you should stop trying. RAAus has nothing to do with this site. They should have their own forum for their member's to discuss what they want and let them moderate it. Its not your job to provide a resource for the RAAus. Rec Flying should then be a world wide resource with little Australian bias and allow anyone to advertise for a fee. When I come here I dont want to read BS from certain stirrers who happen to unfortunately have an interest in aviation as well. You dont need to trawl through many posts to see who these members are. I want technical advise from the very skilled and experienced members on here and hopefully in return give them some sort of reward for sharing. Im not looking for a free ride but im not paying money for BS either! I cant be bothered reading BS from someone who wants to appear to know more than the next member. Its non productive and the reason why I frequent this forum less than I have done in the past. Im a builder and would like to see a section for other builders in my area who I can contact for advise and sharing the joy of building. I have heard through the grape vine there are several builders in my area but have no way of knowing who they are or how to contact them. EAA and SAAA have similar local build groups or chapters. You cant expect to run this resource by not charging for it. I understand you would rather not the member pay so do what many others have suggested and charge for advertising. Maybe advertise in some of the international Rec flying magazines as a start. Thats how I found this site. Scotty
  4. I like it but on a serious note....I was an Undertaker for 14 years and a public holiday never passed where I didnt ponder who at that very moment wasnt going to be returning to work after it as they were now laying on a cold tray in the Coroners office. Its a sobering occupation at times so everyone please take care. I dont want to read about you being the one on the tray! Scotty
  5. .. ...and do they squeal like a pig and do they have pretty mouths?
  6. Hi Mark....they are the Falcon brand from Aircraft Spruce. Scotty
  7. Hi Mark.....my pc is playing up and wont load the pic here so have emailed it to you. The hole is 4mm which is around 5/32? Scotty
  8. I have run in to a small hurdle that OME is helping me with but thought it may help someone else one day so have started this thread. Im mounting flight instruments in my panel and want to mount the ASI, ALT & VSI from behind the panel. OME has sent me the screws and clips but something is not right. I can slide the clip into the screw hole in the instrument from behind but the screw then will not screw in as it appears too big. With the legs of the clip in the instrument screw hole, I cant get the screw in. There is every possibility that I am doing something wrong which is why im posting this. Im sure OME will sort me out but interested in hearing other folks methods. I wouldnt think you would need to drill the screw holes out in the instrument which I havent done. Scotty
  9. LS...that would be inhumane. We need to treat these humans like kings and pump as much money into providing the absolute best chance of rehabilitation for them so they can then go on to be productive members of the community. We all know they are very remorseful for what they have done and REALLY want to change their ways. We just need to give them the chance...
  10. I would like to give them a roof over their heads, 3 meals a day, the opportunity to sit around and play cards all day, TV and all the education programmes they dont want. Hang on that is Gaol! Oh...there is always the unlimited anal that they never wanted...
  11. It has a real Polikarpov flavour to it! Scotty
  12. Hi Mark....I have been looking into the aluminium stuff and you will need to sell your first born to pay for it! There is a crowd in the USA the Pietenpol guys use which is supposed to be very good. If you can get a few orders together, it would be worth it with the freight I guess. Im not up to that stage yet. Have a look in the Matronics site under the Pietenpol category, im sure you will find it. Scotty
  13. Then there WILL be no flying then...at least till they get older...I like it! Scotty
  14. All Spruce and a Chevy Corvair 100hp. Scotty
  15. Just sent you a PM David.
  16. My old flying instructor lives on that road! He owns "Wakefield" strip. Im working Saturday morning and the Son is having 5 mates over Saturday night for a 12th Birthday and home Sunday so let me know when your around.
  17. Hi David...yes the Piet is coming along nicely. What would you be doing in Somerton? Our model flying field is out there. Scotty
  18. ...I was wondering where all you deviates had disappeared too! Scotty
  19. Tomo... I think there was a similar thread not long ago. I have a PPL and passes in CPL, Instrument & ATPL theory. Building a Pietenpol Air Camper and am a Pool Technician and Correctional Officer. I dont like working but have to so I can have my flying toys! Scotty
  20. Tomo...your outta be ashamed! Thats the worst pick up line I have ever heard....
  21. Geez Iggy....how do you shape up to that! Lets hear your credentials. Scotty
  22. Hi GG...have a look on my home page as there is a You Tube link to the first run of this engine. They are supposed to be one of the smoothest running engines around. Wayne...sorry I thought you were talking about the engine. My engine is in the USA now waiting to have the crank modifications done and an OT10 cam fitted. Once this is done, it will be shipped here and I will assemble the rest of it. I like fiddling with my website as I am learning all the time from it. It started out I got lumped looking after another club website and had to find my around that and eventually had the courage to start my own. Its not flash but it gets the message across I think. I will be ordring the Spruce for the fuselage soon so then it will start to look like a plane! Scotty
  23. Ian....I have found myself visiting this site less often over the last few months. It seems there was a few who were just stirring up rubbish all the time. I guess the old saying "Never argue with idiots as they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience". Im not into politics as I dont like liars. Lets get on with building / flying and do what we originally came here for. Scotty
  24. Hi Wayne....unfortunately that is not mine. Wish it was but that is what it is going to look like. This example belongs to a fellow builder in the USA. Scotty
