  1. What can I say other than WOW! How can this sort of error pass through? I know we are all human and make silly mistakes but this is big I believe. Whos checking on each others work? Scotty
  2. Looked at the thread and cant see anything about cable!
  3. This is a timely thread. Im researching cable now and I think I need 7x19 in 1/8 for the control column cable and off the top of my head 3/32 for the rest? Do you stock this stuff Mark or would need to order? Scotty
  4. Hiya Dave...Mark who is "Old Man Emu" on here im sure can help you with that! Good service and support! Scotty
  5. This is my favourite. When I need some inspiration to get out and build, I listen to this. Imagine flying in my open cockpit Piet, scarf blowing in the wind, leather helmet and goggles........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkNugqMMwxU
  6. I know when I started flying in 1997 you could buy an amendment loose leaf ERSA that you had to update. Im not currently flying so dont have the current documents to know if its is still available in that format. Scotty
  7. Its to do with them thinking with their third head I say! I have never liked the word "Mental". It has such stigma's! I think if they called it something else it would not have such a stigma attached to it. I think it goes back to the old days of Mental Institutions. I work in an industry that has a very broad array of "Mental illness". It is such a big range.
  8. I was contemplating if I should chirp in here. I just showed this thread to my good wife next to me who is one of those Psychologist type people. She informs me that GAD is classified as a "Mental disorder". She also said that we actually need certain levels of anxiety to survive! Something about the fight or flight response. This conversation is timely as she has had to do assessments for folk who are applying for firearm licenses and have disclosed a current or previous mental illness on their application. My response was, "dont disclose it"! She informs me that the information can be obtained through Medicare records so best to be upfront about it. Apparently the last client ended up forking out around $1000 for the necessary paper work and reports to satisfy their application process. Yikes! Scotty
  9. Im looking at the Nieuport 17 as a future build. Will be watching! Keep us updated Scotty
  10. Lanzo Bomber 90% Old Timer ready to cover nearly and Edge 540 before cowl fitted. Super Tigre 2300 swinging an 18x8 prop. Scotty
  11. Maj...when I did my ATPL it was 77kg if I recall correctly. I wouldnt use that as a guide for our size aircraft though...lol! It may have gone up now. Scotty
  12. Hongie your right I believe. I was speaking to an Airforce instructor mate here and although he has flown Hercs internationally, he doesnt qualify for an ATPL. Has to do all the exams. Kind of weird really. I was busting my gut to get an Airline job, passed my ATPL, but talking to another Airline Pilot he said it was the most boring job he has ever had! Solomon, If you love flying as much as I do, there are plenty of other far better paying jobs that will allow you to fund your flying in your recreational time. Christ im a Pool Technician now and earning more than Commercial Pilots! I get to enjoy my aviation time building my own plane! In saying that I would still give my left nut to be able to fly everyday and be paid for it! Weigh it all up and see what will best suit your lifestyle in the future! Your a smart lad from what I have seen and you can do anything you set your mind to but you have to do it! Good luck Scotty
  13. You know, I could be a real bitch here and say why are we even debating this? Im going back out to the garage to make the next piece of my control column so I can one day soon, enjoy some "Recreational Flying"! Wine glass in hand and heading out to my man shed..... Scotty
  14. Go simple classic! Pietenpol Air Camper (2 seater) or Sky Scout (single seater). All wood construction, minimal welding, can use Subaru EA81, Rotax, Corvair. Fabric covering. High wing, solid built with a massive amount of website support! My 10cents worth!...or you can just waste time sitting on here debating it while I go out to the garage and finish the control system..... Scotty
  15. Now that is what Rec flying is all about! Look forward to the day I can do that in my Pietenpol! Well done Tomo! Scotty

  22. Yes sounds great! We have had a couple of Trikes and Gyro's land there! Dont land on the sealed strip as I dont think it is that thick. You might upset the natives! There is a grass strip along side it. If you do, make sure you overfly the house on the corner as he is a whinger! Says our models upset his horses! We were there first! We fly there on a Sunday morning. The website is www.tarmac.org.au if you havnt seen it already. Scotty
