  2. Hi Everybody Without starting the all out debate Have IVO Props got a better name over the last few years as I am looking at the inflight adjustable to future proof myself a bit.. It is to go on a Subaru ea-81 tweaked to around 90hp in a Foxcon Terrier 100 the other choices are a warp drive ground adj, powerfin ground adjust or a local prop made in Bunderberg QLD Aus all at 72 inches. Thanks to all.. Peter
  3. Ben it is the terrier 100 parked now at YCAB I have to collect the wings yet. The cause of the engine failure is not certain yet I will not know until I get to the engine but a full report will be posted. thanks and hope to see you around. Peter
  4. No Injuries Thanks Ian Just to let you know that I suffered no injuries expect for the pride one but then I am here to talk about it. After a 1600nm trip 2nm from final destination this happens at least it wasn't over tiger country. A big thanks goes out to SAR in Canberra the local Police ,Fire Brigde and Ambo's also a big thanks to Caboulture Aero Club for the assistance in recovering my plane. Thanks again Peter
  5. Retro Fitting Senders Has anybody retofitted fuel senders into a fiberglass tank if so what is the best way to accomplish this and any suggestion on which type of sender to use.. thanks for the help in advance.. Peter
  6. To quote Yenn as well The other thing is if you are going to arrive 5 mins before last light and there is a herd of cattle on the strip, it could well be after last light when you land, a lessom I learnt a long while ago. It is these sort of reasons that shouldn't we be taught. Nev It is great to hear your views as an instructor but here in Darwin we have very limited places to land mostly bush strips. While on a recent trip I had picked a private landing strip to refuel but with about 50+ cows on the strip none of them moved, I had to do a precautionary landing on a road. We are taught that and it can be used before last light. I was just lucky I was following a major road. Cheers Peter Ps I guess you have taken Mannys course in advanced navigation I too would like to do this but Distance is a problem..
  7. Hi Great topic Firstly I am not against the rules that we fly under. Should we do a portion of training on landing planes on last light in the syllabus as as some have said enviromental issues may prevent us from landing on time thus last light comes and then we become unstuck.. Should we also have a landing light on our planes so that if this occurs we have some chance of landing safley.. Its just a saftey issue and should we address this with RAA.. Cheers Peter
  8. How tall is that building :clown::clown::clown:

  11. update Just to let you know Yesterday I was out at the plane doing some work I opened the rear cover where the antenna base is and knocked the coax, low and behold it fell off. reattached it properly. Don't know how it stayed on with all the landings. The reception is better but will take it up today to see what sort of range. I am still considering moving the antenna but will see. Thanks for the advice  Peter
  12. Just a side note After speaking to the Atterney Generals office the other day (Auscheck) the seem to charge around $80.00 to do the security checks for those beloved ASIC's where does the other $80.00 go as RAA now charges $160.00 Should we be shopping around to get better prices if you need one. Please do not start the Why do we need them debate. I have just Flown 2500 nm and got asked once if I had one. Now on the same if you use your plane to get to work am I right in saying that you can't charge directly for flying the plane.. Cheers
  13. thankyou Guys Andy it is coax but the wire from the antenna base to the ground plane is normal wire my thoughts would be to move the antenna but after alternatives without putting holes in the plane. or just purchase a new internal antenna like whats in the jabiru. Thanks Peter

  17. Hi John love the plane just missed out on tonys when he sold it . just a question who is the dealer for suburu ea-81 enginges here in Oz I belive that they are a good reliable engine and 100 hp to boot. thanks peter
  18. Guys thanks for all of the info. I have just completed my training with Airwings in Narranderra. Wally is a great and paitent teacher no question is to hard or stupid just ask. I had never flown a small plane before I started, I completed everthing in just over a week this included initial training, radio and x country i have only 3 hours left for passenger training was hard but going in prepared was good. Some people may shoot me down for the next comment but I had been using Flight simulator X with a combination of Joystick, Yoke, Rudder pedals and throttles yes I could have flown large jets but there are ultralights available. the only thing I now realize that I was missing is the tactile feel. Study is the best I read ,read and re read the manuals and had a good understanding before I got there, read these forums as tony (previous post) said listen to other peoples experiences. Best of all know your own limits. and don't forget the reserves.... now let the learning begin. Cheers Peter
