  1. I know the spot. Will have to visit tomorrow for my day off.
  2. Awesome. Will have to visit this weekend.
  3. Wish I could do once a week but am having real troubles getting the time to go all the way out to Caboolture. Might have to rectify this somehow. Likely a move to GA will see me flying more regularly, a shame though.
  4. Fingers crossed for ATC!

  5. I did a post on this. Australia does them as well but on 20 October I think it is (international ATC day).
  6. I wrote about this in my blog. There was a thread on RA talking about fees and how there are many supposedly flying unlicensed. I assume these people would need to be cautious of the same thing.
  7. It is a shame, but it seems like they are trying to compete with an inferior aircraft. I know manufacturing costs are cheaper overseas but I think their chances would have been better with a better designed aircraft.
  8. Owen your writing is great. You keep writing and we will keep reading.
  9. Starnge that it isn't on VH Freq...
  10. Hi All, I know after all the bad press and whinging that we have been seeing from the public lately it would be nice to have a good story. So today a lady I work with told me that her husband was given a TIF as a birthday present (out of interest, was with Pathfinder Aviation). She said that whilst he was a little apprehensive at the size of the aircraft to begin with, it didn't take long before he was having a blast. He said he enjoyed the flight, thought the staff were exceptional (he could tell they loved what they do) and at no point did he feel unsafe. I was just a little bit happy to hear a good story like this. Hope it keeps up. Cheers, Shags
  11. As always Owen, a pleasure to read.
  12. I go on holidays for a week and the sky falls in!!! In all seriousness, as always Ian you have my, and i'm sure many others, full support in realising "The Dream". I must say, the dream does seem like an ideal end situation and I think it would be great to see it fulfilled.
  13. I must admit I'm not very knowledgable on tailwheels but in the tricycle gear instructors have always taught that if you bounce just hold back on the stick and fly the aircraft to the end.
  14. Mag was very early this month. Leaves me with nothing to read now (I know complain when its early, complain when its late...)
  15. 25 march. http://www.parafieldairshow.com.au/index.html
  16. Sad to hear that, but at least you have the roulettes. Might have to try and make it down there for that one. Looks like a good event.
  17. Hang on... So he bounced so high that he decided he was airborne enought to go around? I mean I've bounced on landing once or twice in training but never that high. A bounce on landing would surely just require holding back on the stick and letting the aircraft come back to ground. Might be a bit bumpy but trying to take off when you are at landing speed just sounds really strange...
  18. This excites me a bit. I am actually very keen on this however I will still probably maintain my RAAus Cert so I can rent the usual aircraft I fly. TBH this change will probably keep the old school RAAUs COmplainers happy (you know the old grassroots vs the new HP aircraft debate). I don't think this is such a bad thing.
  19. Yeah, you'll get really good at crosswind landings... But it is a nice strip.
  20. Yeah now it's online test, phone interview, day at assessment center, reference check, start training. The pay still seems pretty good though. Better than what I'm doing now and more importantly get to be around aviation all day...
  21. Thanks for the best wishes. From what I hear getting in is just the start of the hard work...
  22. Well I am going for ATC here first. Will decide if I don't get into that. Thanks for the help guys. If i don't get into ATC I might take up this offer.
  23. I think it was Aviation Australia latest issue has a big article covering the delay and issues with design.
  24. Let's be realistic here. The costs for membership and for registering seem to be extremely minimal. You can compare them all you want to flying hours but in all reality it's still only a couple of hundred dollars.
  25. I have a bag of those also. Got them three months ago, and they are still in the plastic bag they came in.
