  1. Grats. Now the fun starts!
  2. Hi Jordan. Lucas and the guys at flight one are a great bunch. Welcome to the site. Cheers, Shags
  3. You can't go wrong with Go-Fly. School was originally setup by Zane Tully (now RA-Aus Ops Assistant?) then taken over by the new owners. The aircraft are extremely well maintained. I have been to 3 GA schools and 2 RA-Aus schools before I found Go-Fly (prosky back then). I won't go anywhere else till I'm ready for my ppls. I even drive an hour to get there. If you give Damien a call (number is on the website) they will be more than happy to show you around the hangar and the aircraft and fill you in on the wherefors and howtos etc. Their Human Factors course is also very well run. Again, can't recommend them enough. Also if you've never flown a tecnam, they are an absolute dream to fly. Couldn't be easier. Cheers, Shags
  4. Caboolture is just south of Caloundra (well a bit of a drive). There is an awesome school there GoFly. Definitely worth the trip. Sorry but don't know much about the caloundra schools. Cheers, Shags
  5. Welcome Tony. Good to see another Gattonite around. You should definitely post progress of both your aircraft and the strip. And if you ever need a hangar rat to help with the build, let me know. I just love being round aircraft being built. Best of luck, Shags
  6. Kindle. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Is one of the best devices I have ever bought. I read a lot and never leave home withouot it (20% though first light now).
  7. Well I picked up the first book suggested (First Light). Guess I have some work cut out for me getting through all these by christmas ;) Thanks for the suggestions. There looks to be some good ones in there. Cheers, Shags
  8. exciting doesn't half cover it. When you have a nanchang taken off on 06 while everyone else is operating on 30, gliders in the circuit, parachutists and kangaroos and those stupid white birds of the dump... Never a dull moment at ycab.
  9. Hi All, Just finished the latest book from a series I am reading and in need of another. Wanted a fictional WWII pilot book (just felt the need). Any suggestions in this genre or any other for that matter. Preferable available on kindle. Cheers, Shags
  10. Hasd a great time at the caboolture Flying Fun Games Day. Was a great day for flying!
  11. Grats Don. Did my first nav last weekend. Really looking forward to having the freedom to go where I want. Now I just need to work on getting an aircraft (or access to one)...
  12. Well i'm stuck behind a computer with a whole officeful of w###ers. Can't wait for ycab ffgd on Sunday!
  13. FYI Guys... I've had our life insurance team here at work looking into it and we may have found an underwriter willing to write without an exclusion. If you are interested, PM me. (Ian, I hope this is still in the forum guidlines, if not, delete the post). Cheers, Shags
  14. I'm lucky enough to be under a group life policy at work. Being a group policy it doesn't have any exclusions, medicals etc. (i do work for a company that provides life insurance though). If you need an adviser, let me know. Cheers, J

  17. Sue, I reckon you could get a whole team of volunteers to help clean up the "stock". Experience would be invaluable. I'd be in.

  22. Man, seems in QLD here we have troubles reading instructions properly. sad to say I didn't receive my notice until too late (my address was not updated properly). Grats to all the new board members and thanks again to Ian for providing the site for us as well as being a rep on the board and putting up with all that that entails. cheers, Shags
  23. Hi Guys, I have always loved riverfire, roulettes display, dump and burn (and where I proposed to my wife). I know no f-111 this year (the photo on my desk is probably the last I will see of them) but does anyoen know if the roulettes are going to make an appearance? It will be a diappointing day if they are not there either. Cheers, Shags
