  1. Check this out for 60% Scale Aerobatics... I reckon the fact it is a Cub makes is more impressive.
  2. The time for action was last year... when the members meeting was called (and then stalled into a big shmozle by the Board). I find this all so sad... you didn't have to be bloody Nostrodamus to see this coming... I knew based upon an application of simple logic that this was coming... I will admit that in the last few months I was actually beginning to think that maybe I was wrong and it may be time to renew my membership... but alas no... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam's_razor
  3. Given that the parts produced by Spectrum are for the kit built (non-certified) "Drifter".... are those parts able to be fitted to a certified Drifter? Can anyone clarify with accuracy? It seems that sails for Rag and Tube Ultralights come from many areas and it is generally accepted that they are legally certified parts... Do 95.25 aircraft require factory certified parts? Could you make your own sails in your loungeroom, fit them to your certified training aircraft... and be legal?
  4. I am assuming that Spectrum has a production certificate to produce certified Drifter parts? What does the production certificate involve?
  5. I know it is just one line in a large post... but I think it is not so much the idea that accidents can be reduced to ZERO... rather it is essential to safety that the out of date idea that it is a machine that causes an accident is stamped out. 99.99% of all accidents (which really aren't accidental at all) are caused by human factors... the idea that a certain percentage is acceptable is a big part of the cause it seems.
  6. I reckon you would have to mount the Drifter to the Merlin.
  7. As pointed out by others Yenn... Why should Tax payers provide Welfare to mining giants? Used to be that mining companies provided infrastructure... those of us who remember called them the good old days.
  8. Off topic... but... My opinion is that it should be mandatory to have a motorcycle license before being allowed to apply for the car license... Would remove those who will never have the correct mental attitude from the gene pool, teach those who haven't given it much thought the consequences to themselves of not being a safe driver and generally improve anyone's driving skills. I heard a story once about the head of safety at the car manufacturer Volvo being asked what he thought would be the most effective safety device anyone could fit to a vehicle... his reply was a 12 inch sharpened stake sticking out of the steering wheel pointed at the drivers face.
  9. I reckon once our kids have spent the first couple of thousand hours of driver training by watching us from the passenger seat that it would have to take many more thousands of hours to unlearn what is so deeply ingrained... Perfect conditioning really... and almost impossible to overcome in 100 hours of driver training.
  10. Awesome! How much did the model cost? And who?
  11. Nice Channel. You have some great stuff to sift through.
  12. The Hughes Engineering "Roadie"... Please if anyone has more photos I would love to see them.
  13. Looks like no one actually read the audit reports....
  14. The last "Sport Flyer" had an article on getting a Jab 6 cylinder fitted into one from the factory...
  15. Looks a lot like the Hughes Pocket Rocket Biplane... Any relation?
  16. The whole point is... your choice not to go flying in an R44 is based upon the information you have AND that the pilot had... The passengers as you point out trusted the PIC to make that decision for them without having that same knowledge... and the system of GA regulation we have in Australia (and in most of the Western Aviation World) was put in place to provide regulation to insure that this scenario does not happen... In this case there were several failures as your post points out... IMO this is not defensible.
  17. Crikey mate!!! If he kits the model I want one of them!!!
  18. I am guessing that not too many people actually read them judging by the relaxed manner about it all. If I owned an aircraft I would still be gravely concerned.
  19. I wonder how many people are not renewing membership? Up until mine lapsed I was as vocal as I could be in pointing out that the problems you guys were facing then were IMO just the very tip of the looming iceberg despite the smokescreen thrown up by a manipulative and vocal group of head in the sanders over the course of the EGM... Not taking serious action before the Board condescended to allow an EGM on their own terms was a very serious tactical error. Good luck and I hope I am wrong...
  20. Not having a go at you Motz... But I reckon "by the book" and professional should be the normal accepted minimum standard... rather than expecting to pay a premium for it.
  21. I was looking for the second engine!
  22. It is that attitude that has allowed the overinflation of prices and the almost destruction of many areas of Qld MM... I certainly do understand the "why not milk it" mentality but I certainly don't subscribe to it or agree with it... Sadly it is people just going along with this sort of thing that has caused so much of the problem... I may be an idealist... Heck I know I am... It is just a shame there is not more of us rather than a whole heap of people who are all too ready to stick the boot in for their own benefit.
  23. It is not about getting upset with the poster... but I will say I am damn upset with the smozzle that seems to be Ra-Aus. I have a HP endorsement only in my Logbook... if the aircraft is really an LP then it will cost me more dollars to get the HP endo if I wish to fly most Ra-Aus aircraft... It is all just bloody DODGY imo and not what I payed a lot of money for.
  24. Capitalizing... I wouldn't use such a "friendly" word for this practice... The owners must be morally bankrupt and let us all hope the school goes the same way. This is the sort of rubbish that is ruining rural Australia... if only people had the integrity to say no rather than just joining the sharks.
  25. I would have thought from a License Certification viewpoint it would be obvious by some people would care...
