  1. The possibilities really are endless for this technology...mind boggling really.
  2. IMO it is the Insurance Companies themselves we should be unhappy with... Steve...in all seriousness...I reckon the best thing to do is tell them to go away for at least a month... Or better yet get someone else to... You need to fix you first.
  3. Awesome work Don and all the others involved especially those board members who are assisting... there may be hope for the old girl yet.
  4. I guess at the end of the day it is a tradition amongst pilots to read them...
  5. http://eaaforums.org/attachment.php?s=259e46240d556c6b751d31a7bfa5b22a&attachmentid=3130&d=1374681562
  6. Still not sure about this...in my time flying RC models only twice have I seen an onboard fire...both of them electric...
  7. It would be nice if it was LSA... Would make sense even at that price to put one online at your school...
  8. Kookaburra would be correct...the ES52... they became the backbone of the clubs throughout Australia under the GFA... The Kookaburra in its most common variants had a wingspan of less than 12 metres...interestingly the Kangaroo had a wingspan of 18 metres...The two machines built achieved their goal admirably and were the first of what became the largest Australian designed aircraft fleet flying.
  9. Steve... What a bloody tragedy...fortunately you are still with us . I imagine you are reading this immobilized on your back so my advice is rest that back as much as you can. Good luck with the rehabilitation. Thinking of you.
  10. I recently found online from the Australian Gliding Museum ... This Edmund Schneider ES-49b was I believe the second of the two produced by Edmund Schneider in around 1953 heralding the beginning of serious production of a line of Australian built Sailplanes that became the backbone of Australian Gliding until the glass revolution put wooden airframes out of contention. When she was first born she was a world class performance machine and soon became a record holder. My Mum learnt to fly in this sailplane (taught by my Dad) before I was born... the video aboveshows Mum and Dad climbing in to her in the very early days (at 12mins30secs). This is the rudder... Please note... she was crashed after leaving the Isa... and my Dad was forever after broken hearted about that I kid you not.
  11. IMO based upon my reading of the regulatory requirement the key part of the SMS is the release of safety information to members...the framework was set up by 2011... Ra Aus did if I recall release some reports previously.
  12. From Sport Pilot Magazine...August 2011 "Mick Poole's final homily to Ra-Aus. We have introduced Accident Investigator Training and have trained over 40 investigators in the past 3 years."
  13. And this is the crux of it all...this culture doesn't exist widely/fully in Ra Aus in my experience...understanding this is not just crucial to the future of recreational flying but also our safety.
  14. I gave up my membership in February...and reserve the right to comment. As things stand without membership I am grounded from sitting in the pilot seat of an Ra-Aus aircraft...so if things don't fall in a heap I hope to re join. I think any prospective member should have the right to comment on these matters...after all who would want to pay their dues only to see the organization fold in the next month...I don't reckon there would be a refund offered.
  15. Sorry Alan... I think this could get messy... From an online legal dictionary... "and conj. this little word is important in law, particularly when compared to or. Most commonly it determines if one or both owners have to sign documents. Example: when an automobile registration reads that the title is for Barney and Sarah Oldfield, then both must sign off upon sale, but if it says "or" then only one will have to sign; if Barney dies then the title is automatically in Sarah if it reads "or," but not if "and.""
  16. Not a legal eagle... but I read "President, Secretary and Treasurer" as defining this as a group... If I said... "Roger, James and Peter will be over to visit you tomorrow" one wouldn't assume that either Roger, James or Peter will be visiting... I in my non-legal sense would assume all three...
  17. I see a different society... and it is a far uglier picture than the one painted... full of poor me-ers and paranoid although wonderfully creative in their level of paranoia participants.

    Problems

Would this indicate that (as of 2003) any Recreational Aircraft not manufactured in these countries is not able to be registered in Australia without full CASA type acceptance? Does this include LSA's?
  19. I vote for Cloud Dancer as suggested by Pete. Loved the movie of the same name.
  20. Libelle is the word for Dragonfly in German... there is only one other aircraft I have heard that carries this name and it is a sailplane.
  21. Sorry I was unable to help out with fueling this weekend Doug... I have a very busy weekend. I was hoping to have a look at your beautiful Lightwing... good luck with the trip.
  22. If I recall wasn't there a big fanfare about the former CEO being bought in to the organization on the basis that he was just the man to re-write the tech manual?
  23. If an "Incorporated" organization breaks the rules of incorporation I would imagine that any protection offered under those rules would be void. In this case who is held liable?
