  1. I've told you a MILLION times to stop exaggerating. Nev
  2. Just pull "Funny" faces all the time and as a bonus the other Pedestrians will give you a wide Berth. Nev
  3. To be able to do a circuit without one is desirable. Naturally you err on the safe side by being a little fast if there's any doubt. At West Maitland the Mud wasps were pretty good at blocking the Pitots in record time.. Nev
  4. U/Ls should be "head outside the cockpit" planes Why have a mini airliner cockpit when that is not the environment you fly in. Basic pilotage to a good standard is what you want . Anything else can come later IF you want it. Nev
  5. IF you get into that situation turn off everything electrical you don't need and the radio will go for longer. Check charging is taking place on the GROUND . If you've had a difficult start, the battery will be already well depleted . Nev
  6. Some of my mates used to use a mobile phone to contact the tower. With most of those alternators, with a flat battery, they will not self excite. Nev
  7. Thanks John. Nev
  8. I was with them for MANY years but they seem to implode now and again.. I'd suggest RAAus is still needed. .Nev
  9. He's the misfit that cops all the $#!t but still somehow manages to hang in there. Hence My choice of avatar. Nev
  10. That would be my Powerplant of choice because it's PROVEN to be a Practical thing. Nev
  11. In a group I see regularly I learn Today it seems Temora is going defunct for a similar reason. They have had to move away from VH EXP for Warbirds. Nev
  12. I'd reckon you'd be able to get a house cheap there, the rate people get knocked off... Nev
  13. Oils for 4 strokes contain friction modifiers that will short out Plug insulators internally.. Just use conventional plugs and save your money. I'd check the Inlet valve guide fit on the valve stem. At idle the suction is greatest in the inlet ports. The bleed may reduce the effect of the suction but not enough to stop excess oil getting there. Nev
  14. Do GA PPL or U/L pilots know about icing? To me it's obvious that at the height he reached the Plane was probably covered in it and was going no place but down. Most non IFR experienced pilots wouldn't have got as far as he did. Nev
  15. It was doing long approaches at idle. Plenty of motors don't like that. Pistons get loose. Inlet valve guide fit has to be good and can be .001" if the finish is good and parallel. The exhaust needs more and could also pass oil on a glide. Yes oil (and air can go back in if the flange leaks.) When power is on, some of the gas goes UP the exhaust guide and contaminates the rocker box. EXCESS oil can lower the Octane and cause detonation. Nev
  16. Keep your very) amateur Psychology to yourself Brendan . I've Put a lot of effort into those Posts on your behalf. . Nev
  17. You do them anyhow in a slow and draggy plane 500 ft. and I said MIGHT. under certain circumstances . Nev.
  18. Waste of time using any intelligence here. . Just when I thought/hoped WE might be getting somewhere. Dumb it ALL down, You deserve it but maybe your passengers don't. Nev
  19. Both including Low level and aerobatics. in GA. A wide range of planes in the AUF/ RAAus field . Having Height is a good thing where its applicable.. . When you are a bit advanced Lower level smaller circuits MIGHT be a good thing to practice . Nev
  20. Don't worry Brendan. We'll get there. Nev
  21. They usually vent a bit of oil when you do that. Nev
  22. I don't know what those little things MEAN. Nev
  23. And that's your basis for saying no training Unless there's 3000ft cloudless ? At a place where there could be Arriving IFR aircraft THAT would be a fair and reasonable thing to do. The Context is everything. It's called "Situational Awareness". A "must have" for Pilots. Pity HE didn't communicate it to you. I think I would have. Nev
