  1. Ain't that the same book that someone said Lazerus come forth, but he came fifth an was disqualified?

    Uhh!

Paddy came home drunk, walked into the bedroom to find his missus in the sack with the neighbor. They both sat up as Paddy went to his bedside cupboard and grabbed a 38. He promptly cocked it an put it to his head. His missus shouted "Patrick, Patrick, what are yadooin. He looked at er an said. Shut up woman, yer next!
  3. North Central Coast at kelso Marty. Waitin for my strip to dry out so l can head over to the North Island but that won't happen for a while, and the head winds are a bit on the wild side.
  4. No extra fingers, costs a bit when we buy hats though. Here's a pic of our dogs, cousin Bob an Phil, grandad and the Ducks. [/size]
  5. Good on ya Marty. Too cold wet an windy to be outside so I've been playing in the hanger, got the Polish an rags out an Givin the RV4 a back rub. Instead of having an argument with me other head I'm here talking an trying ta learn stuff. Where are ya?
  6. No chips Marty! Ya may have miss judged me. Old koreeleh If it were a 4x4 forum l could try some suggestions and if things didn't work out l may get stranded on the side of the road. I always check with three excellent LAME's on things I've read here any way, when I'm asking questions l like to know from what expertise the answers are coming from. As a Trainer / Assessor l need to show and validate my credentials and experience. I'm not trolling I'm just asking for validation.
  7. My two bob's for what it's worth. I have a friend that has an aluminum truck fuel tank obtained from a wrecker, he has an electric 12volt fuel pump and a good quality fuel filter all set up in his ute. Fills up with BP 98 Ultimate at the servo and his Jabba is very happy.
  8. Thank for the reply's, nobody has given a preference for either Carnet or Credit cards. The reason l asked the question is as follows: l had a Sky fuel card (Access to Air BP) as l needed one in a hurry this company will NOT issue a card unless you sign over your permission to retain your credit card info. They do not issue a receipt unless you demand it. Air BP require you to jump through too many hoops, gather too much personal information and takes payments for fuel directly from your account. Credit card purchase of Avgas shows up on your bank statements, is simple to get a credit card if you don't already have one, ( yes you have to pay a fee and interest) but you can use it to purchase other goodies anyway and it's a lot better than a Carnet card just for those reasons. Down under. I'd like to hear from you in a P.M. please If you have the inclination. Old Koreelah. I get my 98 Ultimate from a very busy BP servo so l, rightly or wrongly assume that it's fairly fresh it's mostly all refined in Singapore any way and to a standard. 440032. I, and probably along with a mob of others didn't understand any of that, Australia ain't America (yet) Fact hunter. As normal you find time to contribute to most posts, I'm always impressed with your knowledge (or research) I'd also like to receive a PM from you so l can get an idea of your huge range of qualifications on all avation matters, just so l can justify my confidence in your comments, I'm guessing you're a LAME. To everyone else who took the time to comment, thank you l sincerely appreciate your time and value you opinion, the bloke l spoke to from BP was not with Air BP he said he was going to contact a colleague from Air BP and get me some answers, he did say Air BP were very keen to boost their sales. He also said he would join Recreational flying and monitor the comments on this forum, so..... If you want to tell Air BP what's on your mind or how they can improve sales pull ya fingers out an get em busy. P.S. I do take ALL posts and comments on this site seriously, but my knowledge on technical aviation matters is very limited even after 43 years of flying. This is why l joined this site, to improve that knowledge but we all need the learn how to define the BS from the facts. I.e: dazzle em with brilliance or baffle Em with BS. Maybe the owner of this site could make provision for a listing of qualifications of those guru's on the site so we can have confidence in what we are being told is factual and from qualified experience. I'm NOT trying to cause trouble or be a smart arse, let would just like to sort the wheat from the charf, chafe, charffe. Stuff it, l left school at 13. An bein a Tassy bloke, two heads don't always help
  9. G'day. As I'm always lookin fer the best advice on anything, l ask whoever l think can give the best answers. I, like most others here like to pay the least amount for anything, and when it comes to fuel it seems to be a big part of my expenditure. So I've been using BP 98 Ultimate, in the plane, ute, pumps and any other petrol engines on the joint, they ALL like it. So I've bin doin a lot of go ogling an lookin at all the forums on the subject l can find, and Google BP's Web site on 98 Ultimate and it states "NOT for avation" so l rang them and asked why? The bloke l spoke to seemed to be a bit suspicious, and constantly answered my questions with questions, l asked if l could speak to anyone that could answer questions, l got the name and number of a considerate, friendly, patient informative bloke who was a pleasure to talk to. He is going to get back to me on a number of things, one of them is why can't Air BP refueling facilities acccept credit card's? I can't buy 98 Ultimate at any air strip, so l have to get Av gas, and it's a lot more expensive than Ultimate and a hassle to go and get 98 Ultimate. And if l buy it for a plane why do l have to pay the government all that road tax on it when I don't taxi down any road's. So...... how would you prefer to buy your Av gas? By credit card or carnet card. I suggested he come over to this site and do some research, and find out how recreational flyers feel about fuel and how they go about getting it. So he did, and was surprised, l also asked why l never see BP represented at any air show to answer questions. He seemed to think it would be a good idea. He also said the government intend to ban the use of Avgas in moter sport, and asked me if Air BP had credit card facilities what would stop the Rev heads (not his words) sneakin out to the local air strip and usin their credit cards to fill a 200 liter drum with Avegas an not bother to earth it. I said most air strips have security fences but it's possible, and the government in their wisdom never think beyond the next election anyway. So what engine am looking using BP 98 Ultimate in? (With some octane booster) Lycoming io-320 D1A Lycoming say 100 because of the compression. I usually fly from Tassy to NSW non stop at 2350 rpm lean of peak within Lycoming recommended CHT and EGT range, and get 28 liters per hour @ 8500 ft and 6500 ft coming home. The plugs look good, so dose the pipes and wallet. I'd like to get some feed back from people who are using BP 98 Ultimate in a Lycoming 320 or 360. Rotax, Jabba, Stihl, Marshall twin or compound, Briggs an Stratton in their planes.
  10. G'day Yenn Ya weren't thinkin of buyin any of that fancy underwear fer ya self l hope. How's the RV4 Goin? Had it in the air lately?
  11. You tell em cobber! The world's full of lying thievin moungrels, an most of em get around in suits an ties. An the rest of em are politicians.
  12. Readin this has been a good giggle, I'm not interested in their frequent flyer points, that's why l have my own wings. A cobbler on the North Island (the mainland to you single headers) had enough frequently flower points for a world trip and lost the lot, l couldn't stop laughing for a week. Don't have a shopper card, don't get spam and don't get conned with the promotion crap, nothing is free, l never buy anything advertised on TV l only watch the ABC and never listen to the radio. I live a boring life? Nah. I've got an RV4 and my health and an life don't get much better than that.
  13. We may have a mutual friend, his name is Cliff. You'll know who I'm talking about, haven't worked out how to send you a PM, l was given instructions by Bex some time ago but can't find it, or if you know how it's done send me one.
  14. No problemo, I've always flown on me own so think nothing of it. Not many people l know do a lot of cross country flights let alone across the puddle, a lot of circuits an hanger flyin. But then it's bin said l could be a nanna short of a bunch. I like the out of the way places. Swag, tucker, (7 day ration packs are good if ya know any CMF blokes) water an pass port if ya got heaps of fuel or a trailer with wings. What part of northern vic are ya?
  15. I run a io-320 D1A in my RV4, love the fuel injection, run it lean of peak @ 2350 rpm best run so far was 28 lph at 8500 ft. Normaly get around 30 litres ph. Running on BP Ultimate 98. There is a Hi-o 320 Lycoming out of time for sale on Gum tree out of a chopper 1500 hrs with a good report. Has a chopper cam but don't see a problem wit dat. Search under Lycoming.
  16. How did the trip go rudder? I'm all ears. I'm planning on something the same around Feb next year, Smithton, Apollo Bay, Warracknabeal, Wentworth, Renmark, Port Augusta, Cooper Pedy, William Creek, Leigh Creek, Pooncarie, Wentworth and back home. 2105 nm 880 minutes 670 liters. Or any other interestin joint
  17. That looks oright! I've bin tryin to find where all the other RV4's are to have a yarn an maybe a roundup but so far not much luck. If there was a registry with a contact and without all the personal details it would be a good thing.
  18. Nah! Don't think I'll bother, sounds Like a head spin. Last time a bloke decided to pay a friendly unannounced visit he tried landing on the taxi way and went through the fence, he was OK but his Sapphire wasn't the gem it once was. Crap! That's a short runway. Yer, but ain't it wide! If any one is interested there is a Lycoming for sale on Gumtree search under Lycoming.
  19. I've always thought it was a bit strange that CASA (cretins against sensible aviation) was able to publish private info. It would be even stranger if the Raa done the same without consulting its members first. I was just looking at the airstrip locations on this site and there is almost no information or locations of private air strips on it . lm wondering if it's not possible to list your private airstrip , any answers?

    RV4 Wanted.

G'day Bernie. Just got back to the forum and caught your post. Been busy and away for awhile. Just tried to send you a PM but can't see how. I bin try in to get rid of the Dolmio grin off my chin, for an RV grin. It's startin to comes through. Yep! Got mine in WA flew it back to Taswegian land, the land of ice any wind. Anyway, caught a nice breeze up the exhaust to Wentworth, managed to clock 210 kts and 27 litres an hour @ 8500 ft. 2350 rpm. Took a video of the instrument panel and the Ipad with Oz runways showing the data just for a keepsake, I've been waiting to crack 200 kts ground speed for a while. Called in and said G'day to the mob at Wentworth for a couple of days, (it takes a couple of days because of a certain depraved old coot that likes me to indulge in a drop of port with him) Then down to Iceland for a few small mods (axillary fuel tank 60 litres) then back up north to a warmer patch of red sand country. (north of Packsaddle) I stopped off at Warnambool on the way to top up but had l known there was a fellow RV'er at Lethbrige l would have called in, especially if he owned a Steen Sky bolt. I'm lookin at one on the market, you may know it, DDO. Makes me wonder if you mob at Lethbrige are as friendly as ya brothers (ok, an sisters up at Wenty? In closing, what's the latest on RAUS getting the weight pushed to 600. Regards.Thunda. I left the 4 at Swan Hill to have the annual done and a couple of mods to fit the bar fridge an pool table. Now tell me ya got more room in the 8. I've put a plan in on Oz runways (great thingy that) to visit Lethbridge if there's a chance of a yarn involving RV's and Skybolts. (no port, still recovering.)

    RV4 Wanted.

I have just bought an RV4 in WA. A very good aircraft at a very good price. He was able to sell it because he asked a reasonable price for it. It also comes with an impressive inventory, including navigation equipment, long rang auxiliary fuel tank, and other unexpected extra gear. And maintained to an exceptional degree. Giving eight hours endurance plus 45 minutes reserve, @160 kts and some guru said l was asking too much. And was concerned about my comfort and room to stretch out, maybe their not into endurance flying, but I am. What l purchased was an aircraft that suited my specific requirements and performance. After extensive research into what was available l decided on a Vans RV4, it is exactly what I needed and wanted. Not an RV6, or 8 or 3 or any of the others. Thanks to those that replied to my enquiry, and thanks Yen, l hope things go well for you overseas, don't forget to give me a heads up if you decide to sell your RV4. It is a fine example of a well considered build. There is only one thing better than owning a RV4.......... and thats owning two of them. Thanks again to you that replied, I can't see muck benefit on staying here now that I have achieved my goal, and that was through Avation Trader. There appears to be a couple of Google recherches here that can't help themselves, they sit in front of their computer 24/7 giving out advice that they found via the Internet, and have a finger in every pie gong and then find the time to bake some extras. I suggest they find something more constructive to do, like go flying instead of talking about it. I'm sure that with all their expertise and knowledge they could've get a well pair position with NASA. Cheers all, I'm outa here, I'm off to pick up me rocket for some long haul flyin.
  23. Thanks you blokes. KR: interesting stuff, maybe l should explain a little more about my requirements. The 4 that I'm possibly going to acquire already has the fuel capacity going by the owners figures. And I have no reason to doubt his word, as he is a professional and apparently has been for a good many years. The places I intend to get to, do not require flying for 6 hours non stop, and will be landing for a dingos breakfast, but need the fuel reserve to get back out again. As l have already mentioned l have been to these places before, both flying and off road, and know the requirements. So by now your starting to get a bit curious about all this. and so far not invasive enough to ask why. For many years I've been a prospector, also a professional shooter, remote area driller and a professional fisherman on inland rivers and lakes Driven a lot of miles cross country including the Simpson and some old droveing routes and the dog fence, this was all well before GPS. I've come across some very interesting places and things, I could drive it again but it's a lot easier by plane. I only intend staying a few days then come home for a few days or weeks and return again. There is nothing illegal immoral or indecent about what I'm doing, and doesn't effect anyone else. In fact if anyone else have a sense of adventure and wanted to accompany me in their own plane, their help would save me some considerable labour. Not to even mention the safety issues, all my life I've done things on my own and been in some smelly brown stuff (Don't take that the wrong way) and very lucky to come out the other side smelling like roses, due to good luck and good managment, you only get away with it a certain amount of times. And the older we get the odds build up. As long as they could keep their mouth closed about where we've been and what we've been doing. As most people have mouths like a torn boot, (big enough to whisper in their own ear) l find it very difficult to trust people. But for the right bloke or blokes it could turn out very profitable.
  24. Don't see many chairs around these days, good on ya. Back in my wild and crazy days a mate and I made a frame up and mounted an old club lounge on it, complete with table and food rests. Hooked up to a WLA. The coppers didn't like the idea that much. Almost needed a wide load escort.
