  5. Hi Steve, Thanks for posting. It is good that the brave young men that gave their lives so long ago are still remembered and appreciated so long after the event. Cheers Neil
  6. Tut tut, now Phil. I lived in the UK for 40 years and the electoral system in the UK is just as much a load of bollocks, if not more so, than in Australia. What hacks me off here is that you HAVE to go and spoil your ballot paper even when you think all the candidates are *ssholes - otherwise they fine you. Show me a country with a perfect electoral system and I will move there. All the parties in the UK think the first past the post system is crap......until they get elected by it, then suddenly they forget how bad it is..... And wouldn't it be nice to have the resources and money to do things properly. However one of our state politicians recently found out the hard way that this is fairytale land. While in opposition he promised to "implement ALL the recommendations of the BushFire Commission Report". Then his party got elected, and he realized he would have to triple everyone's taxes to fund putting all powerlines underground as per the recommendations. So his options were :- a) triple taxes, implement all the recommendations, and guarantee being voted out at the next election b) leave taxes alone, implement SOME of the recommendations that could be afforded, and hopefully remain elected (ie do the same as the previous party....) Guess which he chose. A good lesson in reality. Keep smiling. Neil
  7. Hi Seb, It is my understanding that Lethbridge have a C120 under RA-Aus rego all ready for tailwheel endorsements. Suggest you call Bruce Vickers and speak to him about how he got it registered. 0400849031. Cheers Neil
  8. Wow! Thanks for sharing - magnificent pics! Cheers Neil
  9. Hi, I am hangared at Penfield. We don't pay anything on top of the hangar fees. Visiting planes pay a landing fee (I think it's $9). Cheers Neil
  10. Hi Phil, I visited Old Sarum last year when over in the UK, mainly to look at the BE2A replica in the museum. Nice place and friendly people. Shame about the flip. Cheers Neil

  15. Hi Scotty, Great pix! I definitely intend to be there for 2015. Do you know where I can buy the DVD when it comes out? Do they have a web site I can buy it from? Also be interested to know if you organized your trip yourself or went with one of those group organized ones. Any advice on hotels/transport etc greatly appreciated..... Cheers Neil
  16. Hi Joe, Welcome to the forums. I also fly out of Penfield - so hope to catch up some time. Cheers Neil
  17. Good onya, Mark! The latest EAA magazine from the US has an article on their Eagle Flights scheme, and in the article a guy (Brady Lane) describes doing the same - taking friends up for a fly to get them hooked and encourage more people to learn to fly.... Cheers Neil
  18. Yes - if you are a member of TAVAS the December 2012 newsletter has an article about Bruce Clarke's Sopwith Pup replica which is an Airdrome (Rob Baslee) kit and is registered RA-Aus 19-7339. It has a VW 110hp engine. First flight may have happened by now.....He is based at Watts Bridge QLD. Cheers Neil
  19. Beeeeoooootiful! I want one! Neil
  20. Hi Roxy, Welcome to you and Norman. What aircraft did you build and test fly? Where did you build/fly them? Cheers Neil

  23. Hi Nev, There is a Flying Flea hangared at Penfield if you want to see one built fairly recently..... Cheers Neil
  24. ...so if your POH has the phrase "Normal Cruise Speed" with a figure quoted then you're OK. But if it doesn't then what do you use? Do you interpret the top of the AI green arc as the cruise speed? Do you use TAS, or IAS? Or something else? Cheers Neil
  25. ....and that's just the point, Terry. Where does it say what your aircraft is? I have a Gazelle and fortunately both an HP and LP endo, but I know people flying Gazelles with only an HP endo because nobody knows for sure whether it is LP or HP. So one day those nice people at CASA come along and ramp check you. They say you need an LP endo to fly your plane and you don't have one. Oooops! Busted! Until we have a reference document with each plane listed we won't know. Cheers Neil
