Geoff_H Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM I would never put my life in the trust of a Chinese made product. I have too much crap that was made in China. Bought carbide tool system to curt thread on lathe. It broke 10 tips without a single pass ( some at only a few thou deep) in steel. Dis cut a thread in aluminium 1 1
facthunter Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM The best adjustable reamers are Aust made Suttons. Chinese stuff CAN be alright IF they build to the right standard. Nev
Geoff_H Posted yesterday at 02:46 AM Posted yesterday at 02:46 AM I have a Chinese lathe. A dead copy of an American lathe. However it needed adjusting of the lathe from new. The Chinese However did not know the material composition of the critical parts. A high tensile steel part was copied as mild steel, the zero backlash devise is now useless. Sorry I don't share your acceptance of the Chinese propaganda that they can make good things. Look at their NPT threads are NP no T. 1 1

It is quite compact at about 70mm x 70mm. I have it velcroed on to the panel. It cost about $30.00 5 or 6 years ago The above Quell replaced an earlier one at about $30. The first had replaceable batteries (recommended @ every 12 months) the new one is good for 10 years and in comparison weighs almost nothing. Like you I have used Velcro to secure it and to place it in a position where it would be sampling Pilot breathing air.😈

kgwilson Posted yesterday at 05:46 AM Posted yesterday at 05:46 AM Quell is a well know local brand & part of the Kidde group founded in the USA in 1917. They produce fire protection, control and gas detection systems. The CO detector with replaceable batteries can be purchased from stores for about $35.00. Both the 10 year battery & replaceable battery models have a 10 year operating life. I'll probably replace my existing unit with one of these though it is a bit bigger than the unit I have but has pretty much identical features. It will be almost certainly Chinese made like just about everything else. 1 1

Dis cut a thread in aluminium I can hear an echo from the 1960-70' - "Japanese trash!" "You gets what you pays for" - you want good Chinese tooling - it will cost youas much as the Yankee stuff - want better - you may have to go German or English. The Chinese have put people in space, are only slightly behind Uncle Sam in warships, make most of the EV's and solar panels and had gunpowder, medicine and ceramics, while we were barely out of wearing animal skins 😈 1
