I'm hearing 5,000 will become 3,000 on 2 December.

Yeah! Basically all remains the same, except the hemispherical cruising levels become 'mandatory' at 3000ft AMSL. 

 

There's still reasons to break from this, such as safety due to weather or traffic etc, or if you are within 1500ft of the ground (i think its 1500)

Checked a couple of publications, found nothing……I will wait until someone produces a sticker for my control panel, THEN I might have the right information 🙂

The Visual Flight Rules Guide is the go to document for recreational flyers. It contains useful easy to follow information written in almost plain English. It has pictures and diagrams, recommend a hard copy.

The new rule is simple, fly hemispherical whenever possible, previously it was above 5000

There is only one page with AIP ENR 1.7-5 written on top. If you ever decide to go PPL and above, AIP will be your key book.
