  2. Yep agree If you get a chance to watch a video of trike in turbulence where the camera is mounted on the wing etc and not the pod or pilot, watch the horizon and it will be fairly static verses the pod which may be moving around a hell of a lot. A camera shot with camera mounted on the control bar that includes showing the pod front illustrates this very well. Ray
  3. Hi David From memory you are using HTC Desire. It has a setting to not use mobile web pages. Probably means larger downloads but I don't find this an issue and always use normal web pages, as like you I found too much info missing. Ray
  4. Industry word also has it, that apparently the thrill thing to do in Hawaii, is to fly very very low over the wave tops ( or below?) I assume the waves may be breaking and quite big! ( just like the news report from David) So that puts an aircraft extemely close to terrain that is continually altering it's height. ?
  5. Designed for truck pantec's so should be fine . comes painted one or both sides should also help. product is available x Melbourne.
  6. Hi If you are concerned about weight have a look at a product called monopan. . Not cheap but very light, strong and very easy frame free construction. Imo overall economy is more about number of axles rather that size / weight. Though size and weight does have an effect,, especially with speed and hills.
  7. Maybe It's there under a different name
  8. Hi FD Don't know the app or how to fix, but a couple of things that may help. Are you trying to uninstall in market program or settings menu. I think Settings menu may have more success than Market? Maybe restart your phone and try again? Ray
  9. There is a 10mm plug to the rear of the o/p sender that you can remove and install your after market gauge ( transducer / pipe) into. Works fine just need the right adapter. I am also now thinking that some of the intermittent pressure indication problems I have had in the past are cause by the Black box plugs and / or cable terminations. The cable terminations are just a spring loaded connection that to me seems quite poor for the application. Certainly wouldn't be my design choice or even a consideration.
  10. And I support your decision not to - The beauty of choice John. Life is all about compromise. There is no one fits all To me the trikes weakness is the tumble or no recovery from inversion. In that situation I don't know if I would even get to the handle but at least I know I have a handle to try with. The other prime scenario I guess is a pilot medical issue - especially if there is a pax on board to operate the handle - my wife often sits in the back. I avoid the 1st one like the plague and hope I never have a problem with the second one. So hopefully expensive fireworks, well one rocket launch anyway, at my place in about 10 yrs time
  11. They should really only be used when you can no longer control or recover control of the ac. I do know someone that has deployed one in anger. Pilot and pax survive with minor injuries and I think from memory about $2500 ac damage ( and no it wasn't in 1966 when $2.5k was a lot of money). There is a real stat for you cfi. And he has a BRS ( brand?) on his current ac
  12. mine didn't come with any instructions just a telstra message " do you want to update " why thank you - yes please  I"ll just backup first then lets go - OH Bugger:doh: That was a long while ago so over it now. and it is nice to store apps on the SD card.
  13. David If Murphy's your mate too Make sure you have enough ( don't know how much but probably the more the better) free space on the phone memory before you upgrade. Mine failed during my upgrade due to not enough free memory and I had to factory reset it and find and reload everything from scratch even though I did a backup (?) first.
  14. Personal choice sure - and that's how it should remain I have one - I never rely on it, or factor it in to any flying decisions - EVER. I think it is cheap insurance for the unexpected / unplanned hope it will never happen. Never a guarantee you or your pax are going to land alive, intact, uninjured or that it will even deploy correctly but If something ever does happen and I didn't have one, I know I would be wishing for a BRS I trying to kick my butt all the way to the ground. It just maybe offers another chance. My research showed most if not all of the negativies were very early generation BRS devices that did not have the fail safe systems built into todays BRS's Don't shoot me cfi without looking too hard It is a manufacturers site and it's not aerobatic specific http://www.brsparachutes.com/lives_saved.aspx
  15. RNAC have an RAA machine in their operational training fleet and it gets well used. - Why they even own a trike ( HGFA registered) and soon to be available for hire - how can you say they don't take recreational ac seriously?
  16. Hi Neil Android users? Does this mean you need to purchase a set for iphone and another set for PC planning or is the whole set included?
  17. Hi Win Did u request a loan phone? Just had mine fixed and they (telstra) gave me a loan ( not smart) phone. Took 2 goes for them (htc) to repair it. Quoted 10 days both times and guess what. Took 10 days both times. Yes it was 20 days of depression. :hittinghead:
  18. No Wrong latest is IN They seem to have gone out to the 25 mile line surface up Bugger - not happy
  19. Just a thought Try using just one file ( VNC or VTC) at a time ands see if that works ( again from memory only ) I get an error if I select the full set as there is one ( at least) map file without a supporting file (??? maybe the TAC's) If it is trying to do that first it may produce that error
  20. OK well 3 steps Is this better - does this work OK? Get demapper.exe run and select all the required maps select "decode maps" *.prn files will be placed in the same directory run Orux desktop Select "converter tab" in the "Calibration file" select the required map *._ozf.map from the "OZF Maps" Select "Image File" and select the require *.prn file I suggest you select multilayer checkbox, then select the % 's required ( more is better than less - probably all) Select a destination directory Then select create map. copy file/s to phone SD card Job Done
  21. mmmmmm maybe I was wrong ( I did say it was quickly from memory - sorry) I looked in my working directory and there are *.png files when I tried to use the ozfx3 file I got the same error (using XP) I remember doing the 1st map using a long winded method then finding the quicker way that was quite simple and quick Just have to work out how the *.png files got there. ( may have been a batch convert, I certainly didn't do them one at a time ) OK searched further I may have used a program called demapper.exe as it is in the Oruxmaps desktop directory and seem to generate the *.prn files required for the image files see here TerraPerfecta: GPS navigation solutions for PDAs and notebooks Hope the helps
  22. OUT of the 12 mile pacman  by 2.5 nm but in restricted so usually weekend are fine, weekdays mostly out.
  23. Hi Just a reminder that WILLY goes CTA today ( Sunday ) - 7 days a week from now.
  24. Yes I went down a similar path first until I re-read the instructions from somewhere Ok Just had a quick look and from memory Just use Orux Desktop. Select "converter tab" in the "Calibration file" select the required map *._ozf.map from the "OZF Maps" directory ( from my CD anyway) It usually loads the required "Image File" at the same time. If not it requires the required map file *.ozfx3 I suggest you select multilayer checkbox, then select the % 's required ( more is better than less - probably all) Then select create map. copy file/s to phone SD card Job Done basically a one step then copy to phone process
  25. the Ozi files from maptrax work fine. they have just restarted selling the latest aviation maps again. There is another thread on hear about the maptrax maps. You can also download and store google earth files ( satelite, map, terrain ) and many others for your phone as well and use them in Orux. Another app is Rmaps that's worth trying and watching developments. There is a couple of others as well but don't have phone with me at present to check. Oruxmaps seems the pick so far. note - best to use pc software to download the google etc files then copy to phone as it takes many hrs to download, convert and store on phone but only minutes to do the same on the PC.
