  1. Its a bit like the Dublin News report that " A light plane with four passengers crashed into the Dublin Cemetery this afternoon. All on board were killed. Police have recovered 831 bodies so far, and digging continues." Ben

  7. It might be real. it might not. I don't know. But a close look shows it to be possibly a digital creation when it meets the wet stuff. then again... Ben
  8. Music or no music, the answer lies in personal taste really. This is a recent flight in a Tecnam P92 Ben This is a You Tube version (with music) and stuffed up widescreen.. For the purists, without music.. and in widescreen.. part 1 Aviation Video: Tecnam P92 Echo - Private Part 2 Aviation Video: Tecnam P92 Echo - Untitled (two parts due to FL350s size restrictions)
  9. I gave up looking through the history books to find out what it was.... Ben
  10. Bring on the vid clips! Especially the home made ones. For those interested in home video, try Australasian Camcorder Forum - Index page This site, and the magazine, Auscam is the ONLY Aussie publication for the Aussie home video enthusiast. I should add that eye rite, er, I wright, dang, write for the magazine.. hence the blatant plug (sorry Ian..) Ben
  11. Oh darn.... I was going toask if anyone wanted a copy.... I have about 20 from non aviation mates - free to good home - the clip, not the friends, honest!! ;) Ben
  12. LOL!! You will love the Tecnam.. The biggest thing you would notice is the lack of what could be called "inertia delay". In the 172 and 152 series, there is a slight delay of aircraft movement after a control input is made, simply due to the mass of the aircraft.. the inertia. With the tecnam (And Jab) the response is instant. You make a control movement, and the aircraft is moving instantly. With the landings, do them as you do in the 152 - head for the three degree approach (350ft/min descent at 60kts in the Tecnam) and each landing will be a greaser. Do a helicopter approach as I was originally taught, at 700ft/min descent, and each landing is an "interesting experience".. Ben
  13. I had to go and film a fire for the news the other night.. Anyone share my sense of humour with this frame grab?
  14. I'm a Beech B58.... Ben
  15. The best devices for avoiding a collision was used in the two incidents described... Eyeball Mk1 and Ear'ole Mk2 Even with the latest and greatest technology, they all rely on the use of these two doovers, and the greystuff that connects them. Ben
  16. That reminds me about the two pilots from Ryanair, coming back to the companys base in Dublin, the captain makes the comment about the strip.... "Bejabbers, Sydney, thats the shortest runway oive ever seen!" To which the FO replies, "to be sure, Captain, but its the widest oive ever seen as well".. Ben (trying very badly to get the thread out of the gutter... lol!!)
  17. Sore from laffing, here... Ben
  18. Yeah.. makes you sick don't it ;) I'd go for the DC3 flight... Ben
  19. Matt and Kaz, you two are bloody legends. LittlePete will remember THAT day for the rest of his life. Ben
  20. Sooooo, If I fly to Cant-berra and invoice the airport lessees for one hour do you think they would take notice? But what.. if I called the firm Al Kyder, and signed it Terry Wrist.... ;) Ben *Think about it... and say the names out loud..*
  21. I hold a RAA certificate and am a student PPL. What I would like to do is buy my own plane. I loathe having to fork out $140 an hour, when I know it could cost me less. If I buy a decent RAA registered one, its going to cost me $90K + If I buy a decent GA registered one it will cost me $50K+ Thats half price. So much for 'affordable flying'. Sure, a 152 may have an old airframe, but they are 1) serviced by a LAME every 100 hours and 2) FULLY inspected annually by a LAME. If its not airworthy, s/he won't sign the release. It stays on the ground till its fixed. The comment about 80 year olds in a scarebat is out of line. I know a heap of pilots aged 60+ and one in his 80s who pass their annual GA medical with ease. For what its worth, I would prefer to fly with their 50 years of experience than a rookie. Thats my 2.2c worth anyway. Ben
  22. Because we are dealing with a government department made of public servants who do not know their aviation, as well as other organisations that may feel under threat by what could be seen as common sense. If you click on the CASA link and have a read of it, as well as clicking on the RAA site you will quickly understand that it would be a benefit to aviation, and a perceived threat to other organisations.
