  1. You guys are waaay behind the times....chap NQ built a ground effect aircraft 30 yrs ago, Cessna powered, trialled it in the Deeral river, last I heard he was chasing more power out of it. Would not be surprised if it's gathering dust up here somewhere. Same chap gave me a video of a massive Russian built machine, it appeared to go really well. ( lurker here frank A might be able to shed some light, we trialled it right at his back door , Oye frank, it was ken C's project ) Just googled Russian ground effect aircraft.......bingo
  2. LAME that did my topend refurbish 6 mths ago, payed particular attention to the refitting of the 4 inlet tubes to the heads. He said relying on the single O rings was not good enough, he as well, placed a small ring of silicon just inside each joint, as the tubes came together, the silicon created that extra seal. ( where the tubes entered that alloy distribution box.) he noted at the dismantle stage that a couple of cyls were running leanish. Hence his usual practice of better sealing. Now done close to 100hrs, and checking plugs the other day, they all looked uniform in colour. The comment was....perfect.

  7. A sentence within a mail from Camit......" We build / supply engines to jabiru, to THEIR specifications" .....period. The Camit engine is to Camits specs, jab forced Camit from further proceeding to "certification" ( this now situation has curtailed things, but stay tuned ) ...I hope

Way back when, casa signed off the " C " series, as structurely sound, engine etc delivered test figures to agreed values, etc etc, now they are saying it's no longer reliable, so it must follow.....the package ( type C ) is now not certified. ( hello mr Camit, I'll pickup my new engine Friday )

  10. My 160C.........is casa type certified, that must include the engine I assume. So they've certified my original engine as operating to set specs, reliability etc, so it must follow, I'm exempt from this hoo ha,........( just a thought )
  11. I think......" Glide from populous areas" as mentioned in the casa document, excludes takeoffs and arrivals. Clarification might be needed here.
  12. The gyro folks have similar, it was " self " .....asra, initiated, yrs ago, never heard a case where the newbie bolted after reading the form, they signed, they flew.

  14. The SOONER jab and Camit take a breath, realise each can save the other, and continue pumping out a great product, with reliability issues fixed, the sooner everyone's a winner. ( that's everyone )
  15. One issue I have on Mogas is at shutdown, it sometimes, just as it's about to stop, it reverse runs for a couple of prop revolutions. Why ?? Trialling different shutdown methods to stop this.
  16. My thoughts.....maybe......a reverse vented panel on the top of engine cowl. ( create a largish low pressure there to drag out head temps from above ) ?? An area of small rear facing vents. Just a thought.

  19. Sure does... 16.3 LPH ...28ish revs........me same revs 15 ish. Latest jet kit too. ( did you jet even bigger ) ??
  20. Why the "PM" to find out your mods, share them for all to see / evaluate. Post a disclaimer if that helps. Strange to me, to express your " fix" but only accessed privately. .????
  21. About 150mm......the " angle " is a factor as well. Converted to 98 prem, adding moreys top end lube, as per their specs. Pull throughs etc, are always good. Acquaintance talked me into all this, he's accumulated 1500+ hrs! just keeps purring away
  22. This works a treat, I can maintain full power indefinitely, Max's to mid green, cruise sets at the bottom green. I've got the numbers somewhere. Full power, 250f = 121c Cruise........205f = 96c That's reading from LHR cyl head ( cyl 4 ...I think ) Your figure 150......f.....or Celsius ?

At wide open throttle my manifold press guage reads around 28, reduce revs to cruise it shows around 20 ish Fuel consumption at full power reads 35 LPH ....cruise reads 22 LPH. This is my gyro ( Subaru ej25 engine ) .....I'm interested to know what can be concluded from these numbers ...eg, is this engine fully performing at full power, and just how hard is it working at cruise. Full power revs 5300, cruise revs 4200 Thanks....Russ.
