  1. 94 Grange, no way .........I'd be drinking that myself, However....I too got the run around, rego eventually expired, mails to and fro, got slightly agro when 3 weeks expired rego, still flew, bugger em, then rego arrived. I do intend submitting next rego 6 weeks in advance, let's see how that goes. Week or 2 back, I got my license renewal paperwork......full of incorrect data, unreal, wrote correct info over their data, let's see how that goes. The gyro folks have a great system to keep your details up to date, you log into "your" account, update whatever, and management at any time hook into it, and access info as needed. Messages requiring your attention are lodged there as well, so you read, and action as needed. If "you" fail to read, update, etc, well just blame yourself, not admin, easy as. Actually they have a pretty slick operation.
  2. I enclosed a bottle of "Grange" 94 vintage, was re registered next day, no complaints here.
  3. Somewhere in another thread, I recall our resident petro chemist, saying shandys are Ok. ( avgas .....pulp )
  4. For sale.....new, Ivo magnum 74", 3 blader, inflite adjust, constant speed propellor. Suit pusher, cost $4000plus......sell $2500 plus postage. 0418276747
  5. It's the side slipping I'm keen to master......in me jab
  6. I'm reticent posting this, as some here leap at a chance to " flame " folks.......but to hell, here goes. Skidding, slipping, was never taught to me, but I know of its advantages...uses....so..... My aircraft has a ? Min airspeed to stall, so if I'm sideways skidding ......what next Pitot tube is not aligned to incoming air, but I'm tracking straight. Can I " over skid " Observations to expect, react to, how, Skidding in on a reasonable Xwind ? In a nut shell.....info And......I intend getting quality training before I utilise the technique, just now chasing background info
  7. Me being sooper dooper smart....might just submit my license and rego paperworks 3 mths in advance of expiry date......now how smart is that:roflmao:.....
  8. IRMT www.rotaxirmt.com/ This website is the independent Rotax Maintenance Technician (iRMT) training page of the Rotax Flying and Safety Club (RFSC, Ltd.). This website shows the ... Chaps name...Matthew Reid, Townsville, will travel, progressively building client base.
  9. Guys.....copy of mail from moreys...........( edited ) Sorry Russ, I will try to be more specific. Our Upper Cylinder Lube (Moreys) will not effect the RON in any way, if it did then you would most likely have excessive engine knock From: Russ Sent: Tuesday, 24 June 2014 10:40 AM To: Stephen Subject: Re: Morey Oil Thanks,....but my query was......does moreys lower the RON ( octane ) of petrol, your reply here refers the product is " not an enhancer " .......enhancing is too improve. Can you please clarify. Russ...... On 23 Jun 2014, at 11:01 am, wrote: Hi Russ, Moreys Upper Cylinder Lube is not an Octane enhancer and yes you can use it in Air Cooled Engines. Please feel free to contact me for further information if reqired
  10. Today I was advised that a chap ( Townsville ) has travelled to Rotax factory, has gone through their servicing training school, and is now available to competently maintain our engines, to Rotax specs. Excellent news, being some L2's produce some pretty ordinary workmanship. Stay tuned......I'm chasing his contact details.
  11. I've used this in my soob ej25 powered gyro, the soob being EFI and unleaded. So the times I fuelled up with avgas I added decalin at the rates instructed, no problems at all, all good. The soob with all it's censors feeding back to the ECU, I was concerned with avgas, and then again concerned if the decalin really was a good move, it proved ok. Now onto me jab.......99% of the time avgas, occasionally topup with 95 premium, more and more I'm hearing guys running nothing but 95 and adding top end lube ( Lucas....mooreys ) ...all having no probs whatsoever, infact when heads are pulled off, internally clean as.......my 2 bobsworth.
  12. Acquaintance recently attended a casa meet at caboolture, folks told ....by casa, the iPad is ok......no print backups required anymore.
  13. Ok, month or 2 back I prepped, and re painted my wooden prop with wattle Airosol polyurethane clear lacquer, came up great. But......got caught in some drizzle rubbish the other day, and the paint got a workout, so......any good reports of other paints, or just redo with same wattle product.
  14. Ol mate removed cleaned relief valve, noted slight "wear mark" polished it out, oil pressure right up there now, and holding. Comps and leakdowns being done later this week, let's see what comes of it. ( BTW...all parts were ex Bundy ) ol mate doing the work, does great work, so low comps so soon will probably have him a tad disappointed......and me. ( Camit........where's me certed engine ?? )
  15. Shell aero 100. ( I think it is straight mineral oil, )
  16. Less than 40hrs from a rehone, replace rings, head job etc, I've noticed differences in cyl comps, 1 is super good, the other 3 vary quite a lot from the good pot. When we pulled the pots off before, there were 2 pots with stuck rings, hence low comps. Surely now the same happening this early again causes concerns to me. The first 20 hrs after repairs the engine was run in on shell aero, then changed back to aero plus, avgas fuel 98% of the time. CHT's never got high, infact right down the scale green. ( sensor attached to LHR pot ) I run the engine on cruise around 2800 revs, so any feedback here would be appreciated. Russ
  17. Nar.....women are like floor tiles.......lay em right, then you can walk all over them for ever. ( I'm gone )
  18. Didn't you have a low oil light glowing, vibration, high temps.....whatever. They would have bucklies getting fees for that scinareo.
  19. Yea, can be hard to find, best way....truck spares/ accessories place. ( lot of drivers swear by it ) Maybe........super cheap...autobarn. If not......I have a spare bottle, I will sell it to you. ( $16 + post )
  20. A good waxing protects that area. ( "wicked" top stuff )
  21. Lift off, drift 50+ m to one side of runway! flying parallel , climbing! noise stops, whatever, if a turn back is your decision, your completed 180 is nearer to centre line, rather than way out over rubbish, then having to get back to somewhere near centre line. ( works for me ) Flying a high wing does make position referencing harder, when my wing obscures full vision. ( tight turns ) More experience will rectify that.....I hope. If doing the above is breaking rules......tuff.
  22. Champagne mix perhaps.....avgas 50/50 with 95pulp......yes ??
  23. VFR at all times, ( broken cloud ) Cruise alts...0 to 179 15...35...55..75..95 180 to 359 25...45...65...85 Charts onboard as backup, as always Always.....knowing exactly my position Obtaining up to the minute weather from folks ahead.....so what's wrong with that. A possible divert can then be tracked.
  24. Blue sky's, 20kt tail winds, nice trip. ( getting flamed for " assumptions" by some........no next time, mums the word ) Next trip, NQ to NT to WA.....coastal as much as possible. 6 plus weeks duration, lots of folks, places to see....stay tuned.
  25. Young chap, with family, craft was a eurofox I'm told. Mishap on landing I'm hearing. Sad day indeed, I hope his grieving family have good support.
